SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS
"...Long ago, something unusual happened to me that taught me the most valuable lesson of my life. I was blessed by misfortune. I mean that sincerely. I was blessed because I served in the company of heroes, and I witnessed a thousand acts of courage, compassion and love..." John McCain
Yesterday I posted a humorous commentary about why Republicans are different from Democrats. I left something out in my little 'snark'. The DNC ended with god coming down from on high. There was this amazing display of fireworks, new age music, and a reverent 'downer'. It was depressing. John McCain's convention ended with prayer. I watched, and prayed, as men and women though-out the convention center
In his acceptance speech at the RNC, John McCain spoke of the blessings of his life, including his cruel captivity at the hands of the North Vietnamese.
"...I've been an imperfect servant of my country for many years. But I have been her servant first, last and always. And I've never lived a day, in good times or bad, that I didn't thank God for the privilege. Long ago, something unusual happened to me that taught me the most valuable lesson of my life. I was blessed by misfortune. I mean that sincerely. I was blessed because I served in the company of heroes, and I witnessed a thousand acts of courage, compassion and love. ...I'm going to fight for my cause every day as your President. I'm going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I'm an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach..."
John McCain, soon to be the 44th POTUS, in his speech last night, reminded me of something I've not been practicing lately. I should be, since I have basically used it as my philosophy of life:Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God
in Christ Jesus for you.
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God
in Christ Jesus for you.
I Thess. 5: 16-18
Last night we were treated - and I emphasize the word "treated" to the life story of a true American hero, a man who came close to giving his all for his country. He literally put me in my place when he called his imprisonment a "blessing". How many of us have the courage and the personal strength to admit that the bad, the horrible things of life are blessings? I'm learning, but the bad thing that happened to me did little beyond psychological scars that have basically healed. The only thing I have in my life that has come close to John McCain is a badly broken right elbow that hasn't healed properly.
While I was dealing with it I was horrible. I was a total you know what. Someone should have given me an attitude adjustment. John McCain did that last night. What did I learn from the blasted broken elbow? It still hurts like you know what. I've learned compassion for people who have bones that do not heal properly. It has helped me understand the courage of Virgil Earp after he was so horrifically injured on December 28, 1881 in Tombstone.
This evening I listened to the body language expert on O'Reilly who criticized John McCain for not standing with his hands behind his back, instead holding his hands, "in front". From what I gather his arms were so injured during his years as a POW that I don't think he can stand with them "in back". I know it is very difficult for me to get my right arm "in back". Yea, the injury has taught me sympathy. I guess it was a blessing.
If we have given our lives to Christ, those steps along the way, the ones we find to be so traumatic, while not coming from God, who does not do bad things to us, can become blessings. We take the lemons and turn them into lemonade.
John McCain is correct. If we can take the worst things that have happened to us and say "Thank you, God", offer up our praise and pray always, we have defeated that specific evil.
Evil cannot exist if we are praising God! Bad things can still happen, but the evil has been defeated. I've learned the hard way. Once I began Praising God because of the things that happened to me as a child, I obtained victory over them. I learned how to reach out to help others. There literally is at least one woman who is alive today because she did not take her own life over her abuse. I was able to help her. In some weird way, it was all worth it - the abuse, the trauma, and the stalking. I leaned how to reach out to others, helping them.
I understand how John McCain feels.
Do you realize how remarkably the Lord has blessed this nation? By McCain losing to GWB in 2000, we had the right man in office when this horrible war against civilization began. GWB is described as a person who could shoot Old Yeller' between the eyes, not blink, then be upset about it later. He is the right man for the right time. By allowing John McCain to be defeated in 2000, our Heavenly Father is protecting our nation. McCain is now the right man to succeed George W. Bush.

God's in His heaven.
All's right with the world.
All's right with the world.
Our nation is being protected and preserved. This election is a very real spiritual battle. We are literally at war with Barack Obama and Oprah's New Age theology of lies. Let's be honest here. In the year 2000, Al Gore was more a dufus than an agent of darkness. In 2004 John Kerry was more an agent of ambition and the ultimate gigolo. This is something different. We are dealing with a man who is a puppet, a shell, and a sham. The contrast between John McCain and Sarah Palin could not be more remarkable. It is no wonder Oprah is afraid to allow Sarah Palin to be on her show.
I don't know about you, but John McCain's speech last night has had a tremendous effect on me. I was going to complain about something and someone yesterday evening. After the speech I realized we are all in this together.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
I guess it makes me wonder why Democrats/Liberals are afraid of Christians like John McCain and Sarah Palin. Why?
