LET SARAH BE SARAH
I was discussing Sarah Palin's little media problem today with my RNC friend. He says he's never seen anyone be treated so very badly by the press or the Democrats than Sarah Palin. My friend is also complaining about the growing litany that the McCain Campaign needs to let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin and leave her alone to be herself. IF YOU BELIEVE THIS
NORTH TO ALASKA
Sarah Palin is being ridiculed for stating that Alaska is quite close to Russia. Actually, Alaska and Russia are about 53 miles from one another. But, there are two islands that are only 4 miles from one another - close enough that you can see "Russia" from "Alaska" and "Alaska" from "Russia". Get it?
"...During the Cold War, the Bering Strait marked the border between the United States and the Soviet Union. The island of Big Diomede in the USSR was (and is) only 4 km (2.4 mi) from the island of Little Diomede in the USA..."
If "global warming" continues and our world grows colder into another "ice age" then the whole darn thing will freeze and create another land bridge. For the brain-dead history-impaired among you, that's how North America became occupied by humans. People WALKED from what is now Russia into Alaska. Yes, Barack, they walked. They did not take planes, trains, or submarines. They walked. The distance from Alaska to Russia is 53 miles. If the "land bridge" were intact, someone like the First Dude could snowmobile across from Alaska to Russia in less than two hours. There are some engineers who are even conceptualizing a bridge between the two countries. "...The TKM-World Link is a planned link between Siberia and Alaska providing oil, natural gas, and electricity to the United States and Canada from Russia. The plan includes provisions to build a 64 mile (103 km) road and rail tunnel under the Bering Strait which, if completed, would become the longest tunnel in the world. As of 2007, the 53.85 km Seikan Tunnel is the longest tunnel of this type. The tunnel would be part of a railway joining Yakutsk, the capital of the Russian Yakutia republic, with the western coast of Alaska.
Vladimir Putin, the Russian ex-president, has approved a plan to build a railroad to the Bering Strait area, as a part of the development plan for the years until 2030. A Bering Strait tunnel could be built after this railroad is built. The funding is however doubted. The 64-mile tunnel would run under the Bering Strait between Chukotka, in the Russian far east, and Alaska. Putin discussed plans for a tunnel to link his country with America when he met with Bush on March 2008. A cost estimate was £33 (US$66) billion..."
During the Cold War, the Governor of Alaska was on the front line of defense against the USSR. Unfortunately, the ignorant sluts in the media and the Obama Campaign don't realize this. With the changes in Russia and Putin trying to revive the old USSR, the Governor of Alaska is once again on notice that if something nasty starts, Alaska is the front line.Vladimir Putin, the Russian ex-president, has approved a plan to build a railroad to the Bering Strait area, as a part of the development plan for the years until 2030. "...Using the pretext of an imaginary red scare, J. Edgar Hoover lobbied hard to seal the Bering border. Then, in May 1948, as the ice was breaking up in the strait, the Soviets notified the State Department that passage was no longer free. Word trickled slowly down from Washington to distant Nome and on out to the bush telegraph of the islands. ...TO REACH THE NATIONAL Guard outpost at Gambell on St. Lawrence, one flies west-southwest from Nome out into the very middle of the Bering Sea. The native name for the island, Sivuqaq, means ''something squeezed and dropped out in the water to make an island.'' In a deHavilland Twin Otter, the workhorse of the Arctic, the journey takes about 90 minutes in pallid polar daylight over a jigsawed desert of ice. The eye searches eagerly for a color, a contrasting feature, even a discrete shadow, but the frozen sea merges into a rimless hyperborean sky. The bush pilot points below to the almost imperceptible line of our landfall at Northeast Cape, an abandoned Air Force listening post, which a single soul used to man, alone and unrelieved, for a year at a time."
Billy Mitchell once said that he who holds Alaska holds the world."...''HE WHO HOLDS ALASKA will hold the world,'' Gen. 0, 30,30>Billy Mitchell, a pioneer aviator, prophesied to Congress in 1935. Today, the region sits astride and thus controls one of the world's great international air hubs for conventional military and civil aviation, the great circle routes connecting the West Coast to the Orient and the Orient, over the pole, to Europe. Equidistant in flight time to Norway and Japan, Alaska billets forces able to defend both Northern Europe and the Far East. Military air transports based there get over the pole to Norway 15 minutes faster than those out of Fort Drum in upstate New York, and to Japan 90 minutes faster than their counterparts out of Pearl Harbor.
Closer still are the various Soviet missile and bomber vectors leading to American targets in the lower 48. Facing these along the frontier and out over the icecap, the Air Force in Alaska must fulfill the functions of intelligence gathering and long-range reconnaissance, early warning and first line of defense. The succinct charter of its mission emblazoned on billboards at its bases is to provide ''Top Cover for North America.''...The keystone in this arch of defense coverage is the gathering of intelligence from the Soviet Union. Along the 34,000 miles of coastline in Alaska, there is virtually no way to intercept an approaching intruder - as the Air Force regularly does - without advance hints that one will soon be coming. But just as Alaska is an accessible target, it is also an invaluable platform from which to monitor the Soviet mainland and offshore Soviet military activity. The quirky curvature of the earth's electromagnetic spectrum near the poles makes many high-ground locations in Alaska magical places to eavesdrop. ''Especially for SIGINT [ Signals Intelligence ] ,'' one intelligence source said, ''Alaska has become the great big fat listening post.''
Our harvest of stolen signals from the critical Pacific and Northern coasts of the Soviet Union comes from intelligence satellites in continuous orbit, elaborate fixed listening posts on the islands of Adak and Shemya and on the periphery of northern Alaska, sensing platforms on trawlers, occasional flights of high-altitude supersonic aircraft such as the SR-71 (Blackbird) and, more regularly, from half-a-dozen refuelable RC-135 aircraft specially configured for long-range optical and electronic reconnaissance..."

According to Alcee Hastings, she is evil because she is white and knows how to use a gun. I don't know about you, but I always thought of something like this as racist hate-speech. If Sarah Palin were saying this about Alcee Hastings, she's be under the jail now for inciting hatred. But - let someone say it about her, and it's cute.
"...“If Sarah Palin isn’t enough
of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack
Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention,” Rep. Alcee
Hastings of Florida said at a panel about the shared agenda of Jewish
and African-American Democrats Wednesday. Hastings, who is
African-American, was explaining what he intended to tell his Jewish
constituents about the presidential race. “Anybody toting guns and
stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and
blacks. So, you just think this through,” Hastings added as the room
erupted in laughter and applause..."

A DOUBLE STANDARD
Michael Medved raises some excellent questions about Joe Biden and his personal finances, proving there is a double standard. IBD takes FOX out after the way they treated "Our Sarah" on Tuesday.
"....Instead,
outlets from AP to Newsday to even Fox News busied themselves hollering
about access. They made themselves the story. Then they conjectured
that these were "tutorials" and "burnishings of resumes" instead of
messages to the world. Obsessed with pink sofas and Alaska-shaped earrings,
and on lookout for a mispronounced word, they complained that they got
only a briefing, not a seat at the table. In the end, their braying
only underlined their lack of interest in foreign affairs.
How do we know this? Because there really was news out there about what was discussed in Palin's meetings, like the one she had with Uribe. Details were reported in Colombian newspapers like El Tiempo, agencies like EFE and other Spanish-language press, where interest in what a President McCain means for a nation like Colombia is very real. Any American who wanted to know that was out of luck unless he could read Spanish.
This emphasis on our strongest allies is a stark contrast with Barack Obama's academic tack on foreign policy, centered on former power centers of Europe and along the beaten track of the Mideast. Those are the places where he chose to visit and meet leaders. And most of the media didn't insist on access to his private sessions.
Palin is denounced as "inexperienced" by these media, but she's no rube in grasping an emerging new world with implications for U.S. policy. In fact, she is looking at the picture with fresh, non-Beltway eyes. Countries like Colombia will grow more relevant as its economy expands, its internal war is won and the threat builds from Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, armed to the teeth with big new weapons.
Obama has never set foot in Latin America. He has yet to sit down with any Latin American leader in person, though he's made the offer to Venezuela's Chavez and Cuba's Castro brothers....That's the real shame of it all. Palin's visit with Colombia's Uribe, our battered ally surrounded by a hostile Marxist state, sends a major message to the entire region about McCain's commitment to our loyal new friends.
Obama, meantime, imagines that hate-filled, obscenity-spewing Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez will turn docile if he sits down to tea with him without preconditions. Even with that offer on the table to Chavez, he didn't bother meeting with Uribe. Don't think that a tyrant like Chavez didn't notice. The self-absorbed media missed the real story about McCain and Palin's foreign intentions that the rest of the world is watching and reporting on. Who, again, are the real rubes?..."
A man never had to put up with the partonizing of the president of
an Islamic country hitting on her looks. We expect Bill Clinton to
declare her "hot" which may explain why Hillary refused to appear with
her on Monday. Evidently it's open season on a woman who has handled
the redicule, the hate,
and the intrusion into her personal life with grace and charm. She has
behaved like a lady. She was, in South Carolina terms, "Brought up
right."How do we know this? Because there really was news out there about what was discussed in Palin's meetings, like the one she had with Uribe. PALIN DERANGEMENT SYNDROME
The
PDS left wingers hate this woman. While there is a theory that PDS
(Palin Derangement Syndrome) is the new BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome)
I think there is more too it. Over at Hillary or Bust, it has been declared that enough is enough! "....Keep
it up. Because if this sort of misogyny, from women, by women, against
Sarah Palin continues, I will not only vote for Palin this November, I
will vote for her in 2012 if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee. I
will then vote for Palin AGAIN as long as she is on the Republican
ticket and there is no female Democrat to vote for.
I have had it. I am absolutely shocked, disgusted, appalled, and sickened by the far left right now. As a former member of not only NOW but the very radical Women’s Action Coalition (WAC) in the 1990s, I am amazed at how far the feminist movement has fallen...."
I'm
mad. I'm furious. I've had it. Let's face the fact that there are far
left liberals who have taken over the DNC. They are taking their
marching orders from Barack Obama who appears not to really like women.
It is rather fascinating to watch previously honorable liberals who may
hate the Bushes, turn into head-cases over Sarah Palin.I have had it. I am absolutely shocked, disgusted, appalled, and sickened by the far left right now. The fact is, Sarah Palin is being treated worse than ANYONE in either party has ever been treated.
AJ Strata has a piece about CNN denigrating Sarah Palin's meet & greet at the UN "Speed Dating". They would never do this with a man.
"...The
Situation Room (the lair of “Wolf” Blitzer - how’s that for irony) has
done it again. I am fairly certain it is simply echoing slimey DNC and
Obama camp talking points, meant to be subtle swipes at Governor Sarah
Palin. Here is how it played out today (links and video if/when
available).
Trying to set up the fact Sarah Palin would be meeting with 9 top world leaders this week (including the heads of Iraq, Afghanistan and Georgia) the CNN video related Palin’s schedule with “speed dating”.
It was a crass and demeaning analogy clearly sexist in its context and message. No one claimed Obama was “speed dating” with world leaders in is most excellent world tour this summer. And the impression is not to be glossed over. The term speed dating conjures images of desperation on the part of a woman. Clearly, with her family situation, Sarah is not in need of speed dating anyone. It was a gutter-level swipe at women in a man’s world...."
Atlas Shurgs has another example of what she calls "Media Sexism". Yea. But then, if my legs looked as good as "Our Sarah's"....
To be honest here, I like taking photos of people's feet - their shoes
and how they are standing. I like doing this with kids because of the
colorful socks and shoes and the strange way they will sometimes pose.
(You can also protect their identity that way). It is different, but is
it sexist? Once if someone does it, maybe not. Frankly, I think it's
a great shot - one I would like to take. Trying to set up the fact Sarah Palin would be meeting with 9 top world leaders this week (including the heads of Iraq, Afghanistan and Georgia) the CNN video related Palin’s schedule with “speed dating”.

CNN has a very real problem with Sarah Palin. Is it political or sexist?
TROOPERGATE - WHER IS IT?
Have you noticed that "Troopergate" has disappeared from sight? Is it perhaps because the good-guy blogs have proved it is nothing but a Democratic smear? American Power Blog discovered that there is NO EVIDENCE to confirm CNN's report that Palin charged rape victims for their own examinations while she was mayor. That's another media lie. How many are there now? The evidence that the men who are at the center of the whole "Troopergate" mess have proven reputations for being violent. In many ways the way Sarah Palin is being treated is much akin to abuse. Then, when you realize the man at the center of the whole problem is a wife beater, well, it all makes sense.
"..."She
apparently has difficulty compartmentalizing personal feelings from
official acts," said Walter Monegan, who spent 33 years in the
Anchorage Police Department - five years as chief - before Palin named
him as the state public safety commissioner late in 2006.... It turns
out that well before he was jettisoned for what he says was his refusal
to fire trooper Wooten at the behest of Sarah Palin, Monegan had his
own share of domestic troubles - some of them spilling all the way down
to the Bay Area. In October 1994, Monegan's estranged wife, who had
moved from Alaska to the Peninsula with the couple's two daughters
after more than 10 years of marriage, sought a temporary restraining
order against him - accusing Monegan of threatening to kill her, waving
a gun at her and dislocating her shoulder, according to her declaration
on file in Santa Clara County Superior Court. In an interview last
week, Georgene Moldovan said Monegan had threatened several times to
throw her body in an Alaska river. Monegan, 57, who has since
remarried, vigorously denied Moldovan's allegations, both in court
papers filed at the time and in an interview with us last week. "I'm
not a door slammer - I don't punch walls," he said. Monegan admitted to
dislocating Moldovan's shoulder, but said it was an accident that had
happened before they were married, while they "were wrestling and
tickling." Moldovan was an emergency room doctor and professor at
Stanford and shuttled back and forth from Alaska to the Peninsula the
last seven years of their marriage. Monegan asked her for a divorce in
1993, but snapped when he learned he might lose the couple's house, she
says. One day in April 1993, she said in her court filing, "he pulled
out his gun and waved it at me outside my home and yelled he would kill
me if I stopped him." In the interview, Moldovan said Monegan "would
show up unannounced and break into my apartment and do threatening
things. I was forced to get a restraining order because I was really
fearful he was going to harm me." Monegan denounced the allegations as
"either half-truths or pure fabrications." He points out that Moldovan
made her accusations in the midst of a bitter fight over who would get
the couple's daughters. If any of the allegations had been documented,
he said, he would have been fired from his Anchorage police job and
never been hired by Palin as Alaska's top cop in 2006...."
