OBAMA HAS ONE
Once upon a time there was a wonderful country that was described as a 'shining city on a hill' where people were free. Once upon a time people living in that wonderful country had the freedom to grow up to be the president, vice president or even a dog-catcher if that's what they wanted to do. Once upon a time people in that wonderful country had to freedom to be rich or poor. They could basically do what they wanted to do. If a person wanted to buy one pair of shoes a week, no problem. If someone wanted to own seven houses, and could afford it, no problem. If someone wanted to own 50 cars, no problem.
America was once a Representative Republic, which, for those of you who are ignorant of history and "government" is closely akin to "Democracy". In other words - we are not Marxist. We are not Socialist. We are not Communist. We are not a Monarchy. We are a FREE nation where people are reasonably free to own as darn many cars as they darn wish to own. Something very strange happened this year on the way to the November elections. Suddenly private ownership is WRONG. Becoming rich is WRONG. Inheriting wealth is WRONG. Owning more than one house is WRONG. Being successful on one's own without gaining it by compromise is now WRONG. Being honorable is now WRONG. Being decent is now WRONG. Being patriotic is now WRONG. Having faith is WRONG. Telling the truth is WRONG. Standing up for what is right is now WRONG.
When did our culture go so wrong?
Is our culture wrong, or is the MSM and are liberal Democrats compromising every value they have in order to make their anointed messiah, The One, look good?
Cars are one of the Great American Dreams. My father chronicles his life via the cars he has owned. There were times, years ago, when we never knew what he was going to be driving, he traded them so fast. Since he's no longer working, he and my mother only have the 2006 Caddy for driving. He has my old 1967 robin's egg blue Buick LeSaber convertible that I drove to college, and absolutely refused to sell. He also has an old pick-up truck (his first ever) that a friend gave to him so he could drive around the "cat ranch". I have the Durango and my 1988 Chrysler convertible turbo. I refuse to allow anyone to touch it, let alone drive it. I would consider it in about 80% "mint" condition. My sister has a cute little VW convertible. My niece, Laura, now has her father's old Mini-Cooper. Dustin has an old VW, and Rachel is on her way to "moving up" to one of her own. This is the extended family (which I think is how they are hitting the McCain's).
My sister needs a new vehicle, but as a new small business owner she can't afford one. Rachel is just about ready to afford her first "on her own" car. She's frequently driving a "company" car now that she has gone Hollywood. I want something cute, little, new, sporty, and flashy, but just can't legitimize it. I keep trying to talk the parents into buying something cute, little, new, sporty, and flashy so I can drive it once in awhile. The way my mother drives, she'd end up doing the Smoky and the Bandit thing with every cop in New Mexico and Texas. (That's why she never drives - she's not allowed to drive). The last time I rode with her I looked over and she was doing 98 going into Hereford, TX. My niece, Rachel, was stopped for driving 90 through the same area, so I gather it is genetic.
Maybe only Democrats are allowed to collect cars. Jay Leno does. John Kerry owns a few (remember)? I'm trying to figure out how many vehicles Al Gore owns, but just can't pin it down. He has a Lincoln-Mercury Hybred. Evidently he had a Lexus. He may have a TownCar, etc. Barack Obama only has one vehicle. That is so sad. I guess the real problem is no one's given him yet. Or - more likely, he doesn't have a connection to a car dealership.
Evidently Newsweek thinks there is something wrong with this. Evidently Newsweek is no longer interested in the fact that America is still a "free" country where car ownership is not rationed. I know their Democratic handlers want it to be, but for the next few weeks, at least, we're still not a Marxist nation.
