KILLING LUIS RAMIREZ
There are still anti-immigration conservatives who are blaming Luis Ramirez for being here in the US illegally.  That's the real reason he was murdered.  He forced a handful of innocent high school football heroes to kill him because he was an illegal immigrant.  It's like the rape case of Cheryl AraujoShe was asking for it.
"...On March 6, 1983, after putting her two daughters to sleep following the older daughter's third birthday party, Araujo left her home to buy cigarettes. The store she usually purchased from was closed, so she stopped at Big Dan's tavern in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Two men approached and asked her to leave with them. When she refused, a third man grabbed her from behind and threw her onto the bar's pool table. She was stripped below the waist, and several men raped her. According to Araujo, she heard people "laughing, cheering, yelling", but no one responded to her cries for help. Sources indicate that during the subsequent media circus that surrounded the trials of Arajuo's attackers, the idea spread that a crowd had cheered on the rape, but that in actuality, less than a dozen people were in the bar, and no one cheered. Eventually, Araujo fought off her attackers and ran half-naked into the street, screaming that she had been raped. Three college students passing by in a van came upon Araujo in the street and drove her to the nearest hospital. Six men were originally charged with the rape, though only four were eventually tried in two separate trials because some of them implicated each other. The trials attracted international attention. The three college students who drove Araujo to the hospital testified as to the state of terror she was in when they encountered her. The four defendants were convicted of aggravated rape, two men were acquitted of the charges..."
According to Wendi Medashefski, of PA Pundits, evidently Ramirez was "asking for it" the same way Cheryl Araujo was.
"...It’s very interesting to note that the local Shenandoah paper (Republican and Herald) has avoided mentioning the intimidation being wrought upon at least one family of the accused teens. Brandon Piekarsky’s mother received death threats by phone from someone in Boston.
The Piekarsky family notified the Shenandoah police department that van full of Hispanic people was parked outside of their home, and had been there for some time. When the cops arrived, the van drove away. The police pursued, eventually chasing the van occupants on foot.

When the officers arrived back at the Piekarsky home, they found a drunk Giovanni Garcia Cruz prowling on the property. He was charged with underage drinking and prowling at night. Giovanni is the brother of Victor Garcia Cruz, husband to “eyewitness” Arielle Garcia.

Garcia Cruz’s charges were filed on August 8th. The Republican and Herald should have printed the story in the August 9th edition under the police log. Oddly enough, the only police log missing is the one for August 9th. The incident was not mentioned on any other date, either. It’s becoming more and more obvious that the teens are being scapegoated. I had started out on the side of the cops, believing that they would have gotten rid of illegal aliens if they just had the resources. I was incorrect on that account. The Shenandoah police are sympathetic to illegal aliens (Heaven only knows WHY) and don’t check immigration status on those they pick up for crimes, not even violent crimes. The 15-year-old girl’s father tried to get help from the law when he found out his daughter was being violated by this illegal alien, yet nothing was done to save the girl from her situation. I have my own theories - some include, who exactly is involved with the distribution of drugs in Shenandoah?..."
Brandon Piekarsky (16) and Colin Walsy (17) are being charged with 3rd degree murder and ethnic intimidation.  Derrick Donchak (18) is charged with aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation.  Another teenager, Ben Lawson (17) testified that Walsh punched Ramirez and Piekarski kicked the victim in the head.  All three were illegally consuming malt liqure.  Piekarsky, the poor young man Pa Pundits considers "framed" consumed about 80 ounces of malt liqour.  After attacking Ramirez and leaving him unconscious, the group met at Piekarsky's home and worked out a story to lie to the cops.

The PA Pundit, like all anti-immigration hard-liners damn illegal immigrants because they have broken the law. Evidently the young men in question were all consuming illegal beverages - malt liqure.  They were breaking the law.The PA Pundit, is playing fast and lose with the facts.  According to court testimoney:
"...Elizabeth Schlack of Shenandoah testified that she heard sounds from West Lloyd Street as she watched television in her bedroom on Mount Vernon Street the night of the crime. She said she looked outside and saw that the noises were coming from the feet of three men repeatedly thudding against Ramirez’s body about 80 feet away. The kicking continued for at least two minutes while she spoke on the telephone with emergency dispatchers, she said. She could not identify the three who were doing the kicking.

Also testifying was Eileen J. Burke, a retired Philadelphia police officer who lives near the crime scene. Burke said she heard screams, then went outside her house and recognized the defendants, who were among a group of teenage boys running from the scene. She said that before they left, Walsh and Piekarsky pounded on a vehicle driven to the scene by Arielle Garcia, whom investigators said Ramirez had called for help from his cell phone before the fight started. She said Piekarsky yelled at Garcia, "Tell your ... Mexican friends to get the ... out of Shenandoah or you’ll be ... laying next to him." Pottsville attorney Fred Fanelli, who is representing Piekarsky, denied his client was the one Burke saw striking the vehicle or yelling at Garcia...."
I guess if you were going to make "degrees" out of crime, doesn't murder trump being in the country illegally.  These are bad boys, out of control. The fact that they were consuming copious amounts of illegally obtained alcohol and had also harassed Garcia point to the fact that they were up to no good.  To defend them and to hint that Ramirez was distributing drugs is nonsense.

This is one of the problems with small town America.  High school football players are allowed to roam the land with impunity (exemption from punishment, harm, or recrimination). The fact that their parents are not holding them responsible for their behavior is also deplorable. We're dealing with high school jocks who are out of control.  I also imagine if you were to get honest answers from girls in the area you would find they were harassing them, too.

They are local heroes, they can do no wrong.  Their parents are not holding them responsible or demanding good behavior.  Where the heck were the parents of
Brandon Piekarsky when he arrived home, roaring drunk?  Where were they when the boys met at Brandon's house to come up with a story?  Were they home?  If not, who was taking care of their 16 year old son?

That evening, on July 12, the boys were drinking.

"... another Shenandoah teenager testified that after a night of drinking malt liquor on July 12 with friends and a run-in with a firefighter at a block party over rowdiness, the group had another run-in on the way home -- and it led to Ramirez's death. Joseph Benjamin Lawson Jr., 17, during three hours of testimony in a preliminary hearing, said he and his friends encountered Ramirez with a teenage girl in a dark park just blocks from the party. A brief exchange led to a fistfight, he said, and worse -- several from the group kicked Ramirez in the head and torso as he lay on the ground. But Lawsons said it was after Ramirez had regained his footing that Walsh threw a running punch that caught Ramirez when he wasn't looking. The punch sent Ramirez to the pavement with such force that his head bounced, Lawson said. Then Piekarsky administered a final kick to the head, Lawson said...."
