The Pink Flamingo :: The Malicious Duplicity of Rush Limbaugh

This week Human Events is honoring Rush Limbaugh. Mark Levin has a Human Events column that can only be described as nothing but abject fawning, gushing, and outright worship. I am fully aware of Limbaugh’s good points. He is well known for his charitable work, and he donates a tremendous amount of money to very worth-while causes. He is one of the single largest donors to leukemia research. For that, I am personally grateful. His donations may have been the tipping point in the medical research that is keeping my cousin Jim alive (and maybe even in remission).

Mark Levin is a prime example of all that is wrong with the leading voices of conservatives. He doesn’t give a tinker’s-you-know-what about the Republican Party. He is only interested in promoting an alleged conservative agenda that mirrors the false god of Reagan that he worships. Levin has the same problem most of his ilk have today. It is called amnesia. Webster defines the type of amnesia conservatives experience when it comes to Reagan as “the selective overlooking or ignoring of events or acts that are not favorable or useful to one's purpose or position”.

Rush Limbaugh is guilty of two things. First, he has pushed the admiration of Ronald Reagan into a religion. Secondly, he attacks, with satirical humor, anyone who does not fit his definition of someone who isn’t conservative. I willing admit I have thought, and still think 95% of it is hilarious. But, when Limbaugh attacks someone who is a friend, then it isn’t funny.

Several weeks ago I had a rather inflammatory email conversation with a family member. He was complaining about SC Senior Senator Lindsey Graham, pointing out how little support he had in SC for his re-election bid. I immediately pointed out that if it had not been for a pocket of Ron Paul bots in Greenville County, Lindsey’s primary win would have been greater than the 3-1 victory that it was. My brother retorted that Rush complained about Lindsey being liberal and not a good conservative.

I pulled out the nuclear tipped warheads. I’d had enough. Once upon a time, before Lindsey became friends with John McCain, he was the darling of the conservative world. Suddenly, just because he was hanging with McCain, Rush Limbaugh decided Lindsey was evil personified. The day I heard just one little portion of one of the parodies against Lindsey, I’ve never listened to Rush again.

There’s nothing wrong with satire. There is nothing wrong with parody. The problem is demonizing good and decent Republicans who do not deserve such malicious treatment. We have problems enough with Hollywood and the MSM without Rush trying to destroy them. The worst part of a Rush Limbaugh betrayal is the fact that his malicious millionaire minions of the talk show circuit follow goose-step in his shadow. With the exception of Michael Medved who is very independent in his Republican thinking, very few conservative talk show hosts even bother to look beyond the parody. They jump in and soon we have over-kill.

And so there’s not a goose-stepping copy-cat conservative in the country who doesn’t hate and revile Lindsey Graham, who has done nothing to deserve this vile mis-treatment except be friends with John McCain. You see, Rush Limbaugh hates John McCain. If he doesn’t, he sure acts like it.

For some strange reason Rush Limbaugh has this abjectly irrational hatred of John McCain. His dislike of McCain and anyone who embraces him is extreme to the point of pathology. There is no logical reason for it unless we sit back and realize that John McCain as President of the United States of America is the worst possible thing that can happen to Rush Limbaugh. If John McCain wins, Rush Limbaugh loses.

Rush likes to think of himself as the person who made the GOP majority possible. That’s fine if you have the ego for it. If he wants to take responsibility for the now defunct Majority, then he needs to take blame for the Minority. If Rush had remained loyal to the GOP and not constantly pointed out all their alleged short-comings, we would still have a majority in the House and in the Senate. He was then joined by Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham. The little trio of defeat is uniquely responsible for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Frankly, I think they should be held accountable for the nasty mess they have created.

And, it is nasty.

Nothing breeds imitation like success. Limbaugh saved AM radio. Along the way, it was like a scene in Galaxy. When the dingy TV stars learned how to run the star-ship, they figured out they could drag a collection of “mines” from the mine-field, and toss them at the enemy’s ship. That’s what Rush has done. The radio star some how transcended entertainment and became the focal point for the birth of a new religion, worshiping the false god of Ronald Reagan.

Once upon a time Reagan was a great man and a great POTUS. Now, though, he is worshipped as the Great God Reagan. He is used to destroy Republicans who do not meet the new ideological purity of the false religion created by Limbaugh. Lesser practitioners of the false religion, or should we say imitators of Limbaugh imitated Limbaugh. Then the conservative minions of the internet picked up on the worship of Reagan.

The Reagan conservative Taliban was born complete with their own version of shira, and ideological purity. If a person does not pass their tainted version of what Reagan would believe, that man or women is basically pummeled to the point where they are destroyed. They take their cues from Limbaugh, then go on from there.

If Rush makes fun of women, then all of a sudden feminists are to be put back in their burka and forced into submission. If Rush hates John McCain, his pathetic little imitators must do the same. If Rush degrades my friend Lindsey Graham, then he provide carte blanc for Malkin and every little twit on the web to pick up not only the Limbaugh version, but to go a step farther. Suddenly parody becomes hate and character assassination and decent conservatives, taking their cues from the minions of hate, adopt their stance, not bothering to look beyond the façade and ask “Why”.

Then there is this false worship of Reagan, turning Ronald Reagan into a tin god. The worst of it is the fact that the very individuals doing the most manipulation of it, and are promoting the “conservative” over the GOP using Reagan to destroy the GOP are the very ones who detested Ronald Reagan the most. These con artists (and some of them literally are just that) have managed to create their own revisionist version of Ronald Reagan, making him into something he never was – making him into what they wanted him to be. Never mind they spent his entire Presidency denouncing him as not conservative enough.

Without taking the time here, I suggest you look up the following individuals: Richard Viguerie, Howard Phillips, Paul Weyrich. Today they are among the most avid promoters of this new religion. The problem is, once upon a time, they were the very ones who were trying to prevent Reagan from having a 2nd term. They were his most avid critics. You see, Ronald Reagan was not conservative enough for those who are among today’s leading luminaries of conservative Reagan values. They detested Reagan. They detest the GOP.

Viguerie has taken his con-job now to the Libertarian Party and is behind Bob Barr’s candidacy. If you will remember, Viguerie is the author of a nasty little book about GWB. Arch-conservatives have taken some of their Bush-bashing cues from him.

Howard Phillips founded the Constitution Party. Chuck Baldwin is running for POTUS on their ticket. The point of the Constitution Party is basically to torpedo the GOP by using conservatives against the GOP.

Conservatives like Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Coulter, Ingraham and their little brain dead followers are too gullible or too duplicitous to admit they are wrong about what is going on. Conservatives on the web take up their nastiness and promote it. Good, decent and honorable Republicans have become so dispirited by this movement of lies and dis-information they no longer call themselves “Republican” but use the word “Conservative”.

The problem is the fact that the majority of “conservative” organizations and individuals who are promoting themselves over the GOP ARE NOT REPUBLICAN. They have been so successful brainwashing the more cowardly Republicans, especially in the US House, that they’ve basically destroyed the GOP.

Their new agenda, if you’ve noticed in the past few days, is to promote the fact that Conservatives have no enthusiasm for John McCain. You see it repeated all over the internet now, and being picked up on by FOX News, which is in the tank for Obama. We are now being lead to believe that no one really cares about John McCain. His campaign is a disaster. He is a disaster. He is going to lose because conservatives don’t want to vote for him.

These mindless conservatives have now been co-opted by the anti-immigration agenda. The problem here is this agenda is not conservative. They’ve been brainwashed into thinking it is, and absolutely REFUSE to acknowledge or even consider the fact that once again they are the object of a big con job. The whole anti-immigration movement was created by a man named John Tanton, who is an ultra liberal, environmental freak who is one of the biggest promoters of Planned Parenthood and abortion on demand in the country. FAIR, NumbersUSA, and a dozen other anti-immigration (Conservative) groups are his brain-child, financed by him. The whole Minuteman movement has been financed by Tanton’s acolytes.

Thanks to these fake conservatives, the GOP has lost standing. We’ve lost the Hispanic vote thanks to the likes of Michelle Malkin and her little puppet-masters at Vdare and their neo-Nazi counterparts. The whole Minuteman movement has been infiltrated by the KKK, white supremacists, and neo-Nazis. Look up Hannity’s friendship with Hal Turner. Look up Vdare’s neo-Nazi background via the Brimelows. Look up Michelle Malkin’s involvement with them. Do a background check on John Tanton and the Social Contract Press.

This is what is wrong with conservatives. If Rush Limbaugh and his followers like Levin, Hannity, and Ingraham were honorable and intellectually honest they would admit they’ve been bam-boozled by the far right freaks of hate. But, they don’t have the moral character to do so. Instead, it is destroy the messenger. Trust me, I know all about it.

And so, when Lindsey Graham is honored by LaRaza for honestly doing what is honorable and right, he is maliciously attacked by those minions and followers of hate.

John Tanton endorsed Lindsey’s racist opponent, Buddy Witherspoon. You see, John McCain and Lindsey Graham are a thorn in the side of John Tanton, a rip in their machinery of alleged immigration reform. Both men know the score. They know the truth behind the movement. Ergo, the movement must destroy them. The movement adopts Buddy Witherspoon, ignoring his connections with some very tawdry conservative organizations that have been designated as “hate groups”, with real reason. What John Tanton wants, John Tanton is going to get. What John Tanton has done is destroy the GOP majority by destroying the relationship George W. Bush built with the Hispanic Community.

Rush Limbaugh parrots the Tanton Party Line, spouting the Tanton talking points like he was a broken record. The beautiful irony being that Rush Limbaugh, conservative icon, is promotting the agenda of a radical, liberal environmentalist who is interested in population control through eugenics and forced abortion. The lesser lights on the radio pick up the message. It spreads like a social disease. John Tanton has decreed that John McCain and Lindsey Graham must be destroyed. Instead of looking beyond the FAIR and NumbersUSA hate, Rush embraces it. Why? Well, let’s face the fact that he hates John McCain.

Limbaugh needs to remember the lessons of history. Hate destroys the hater.

We are now left with nothing but rubble. Spineless Republicans have been so terrorized by Limbaugh, his associates, Tanton, his associates, and the conservative agenda non-profits that they are afraid to be Republicans. They are now “conservatives.”

Once upon a time (3 years ago) it was known as The Republican Party. Today they are simply “conservative”. Republican is no longer good enough. Taking their cues from the spineless cowards in the US House, they are bowing to the canards and prevarications promoted by “movement” conservatives.

This conservative agenda is now being promoted by a failed POTUS candidate who, without reservation, accepted donations from known neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and members of the KKK. His followers haunt the internet, viciously attacking anyone who disagrees with them. They are doing their best co-opt the GOP, leaving a wake of manipulations, subterfuge, and destroyed county and state GOP conventions in their wake. They are nothing but the conservative version of Obama followers, as mindless, vicious, and oppressive as their ultra liberal counterparts.

Unfortunately they have taken their pretend Republican Party “membership” to the point where good Republicans don’t know the difference. All that matters is “conservative”. Nothing is more important than the “conservative agenda of Reagan”. It doesn’t matter of Ronald Reagan left office in 1989 and has been dead for several years. It doesn’t matter this version of “conservative” is something Ronald Reagan would not recognize and would be the first to denounce.

Those of us who have the courage to denounce the theatrics and the false agenda become the subject of malicious lies and character assassination. I’ve been on the receiving end of it for some time. It doesn’t matter that our values have not changed. My “conservative” values are the same as they were when I worked to elect and re-elect Ronald Reagan. Because of my embrace of the “Star Wars” agenda, I was considered extreme right. Today, because I refuse to embrace the anti-Republican conservative agenda, I am no longer “conservative”. I am denounced as a liberal.

To completely misquote Ronald Reagan himself, I’ve not left the conservative agenda, they’ve left me. I hold Rush Limbaugh responsible for that fiasco.
