My very level headed, anti-feminist mother is furious. Let me explain my mother. The spoon she was born with was gold. She’s never worked a day in her life, never had to. She could be a Palm Beach socialite but she couldn’t stand the life-style. The estate she created in South Carolina and the house was so remarkable, it was a much coveted request on the GOP POTUS campaign trail, year in and year out, not that she would ever give in and host a fund-raiser. She didn’t want to be bothered with the Secret Service. HOWARD DEAN'S DNC
I acquired my passion for all things political from her, my activism, and my dogged determination not to let the little guy suffer, if he/she was deserving. Many years ago she decided to rid Seneca and Oconee County of illegal drugs. She and her best friend (Effie) morphed into something out of a really bad episode of Murder She Wrote, complete with about 3 dead bodies of “snitches”, death threats, a cop on the take who threatened them, amateur snooping, and finally a warning from my fathers’ big time CIA agent cousin to shut up, sit down, and bug off.
That final straw came when the drug informant they were working with ended up murdered and tossed into our front yard as a little message. She calls the FBI. They decide she’s the bad guy and threaten her. The phones end up tapped. She ends up being tailed, bugged, and who knows what. Disparate she finally calls my father’s cousin, who uses more profanity, she reported, than she’d heard before. He told her to get off the phone. A few days later he shows up for a visit and basically takes her to the ‘woodshed’.
Lesson learned: Never go to the FBI. You don’t know who you can trust. Bug out of trying to rid the world of drugs because you don’t know which neighborhood cop is on the take. The other comment was to hope and pray George H. W. Bush should be elected because he knew the score. Fortunately, about that time, my sister found out she was pregnant. Then she lost the triplets. Three months later she was pregnant with Rachel and my mothers career as Jessica Fletcher was over.
It was about the same time she was asked to leave the local Baptist church because she managed a clothes bank and told the minister off because the church refused to allocate money to help buy shoes and coats for a family in need. (She and her mother had already done so). The church did not want the undesirable element coming into their large building, so that was that.
She’s never really identified with working mothers or working women. There’s never been a need. She’s never really identified with the social elite because they thinks they are worthless. There are no clubs, bridge, or country clubs. She’s not a feminist because she has no need. She is the poster child for the series Daddy’s Spoiled Little Girl. Unfortunately she raised her two daughters to be the same way. What my mother gets she wants. She has never had regards or sympathy for women in politics.
The reason I am a good Republican is because of my mother. If it were up to my father, I’d be grumbling that all politicians are crooks and complaining every time the news came on. My mother taught me that it did not really matter what side my sister and I took, as long as we chose a side or a cause and fought for it. My sister ignored the lesson. Unfortunately I did not.
Her current mood today is fury. She is so mad at Barack Obama and the Dems for treating Hillary Clinton like a “2nd Class Citizen” and stealing her votes, like she said, if she weren’t a Republican that alone would be enough to make her vote for McCain! I have a feeling she reflects the sentiments of a number of women right about now.
I’m ticked. No, I wasn’t going to vote for her, but I was sure pulling for her, even though I now she’s a bigger threat to John McCain than Barack Obama. The Republican version of a feminist in me is furious over the way the rank and file in the DNC and the Obama Campaign have treated Hillary. Today as I watched her concession speech I saw a battered, whipped, and emotionally brutalized woman. The reason I told the above story of my mother is that she saw the very same thing. Quite frankly, I don’t know how Hillary kept from crying. But – that would have been seen as a sign of weakness.
You know, I don’t think a heck of a lot has changed. The Big Boys let Hillary play for awhile, but in the end had to sand bag her so their chosen man de jour could be nominated, no matter the fact that Hillary won the popular vote.
I wanted to see a woman up there. It’s time. The worst of it is if a woman comments about this, she’s a bad sport, feminist, or just plain complaining. It’s time to end the good old boy’s system. Evidently the Dems are more interested in pandering that they were not racists, and so acted like he-man women-hating misogynists.
I don’t think our good and loyal allies who are Hillary supporters are going to let this thing drop. I think they realize the price we could all pay, the danger, and the abject duplicity of Barack Obama.

According to a news source, impatient House supporters urged her to draw a close to the campaign, or at least express support for Obama. Her decision to acquiesce apparently may have caught many in the campaign by surprise. Logistics and explanations may need to scramble. Just about 17 months ago Clinton seemed unstoppable. But because Obama and his supporters played dirty tricks, used sexist comments, intimidated people in some caucuses and played the race-card against Hillary and her supporters all the while claiming to be a “new” kind of Democrat with “fresh” ideas to unify the party and our country, Obama has become a dirty word in many Clinton circles. In my opinion, Barack Obama will only pick Hillary as V.P. if he must. Right now, he doesn’t have to.Many Clinton supporters will simply support Obama. But a large minority may end up either voting for McCain, writing her name in, not voting for president, or voting for a third party candidate. This could tip the scales in favor of a McCain win in an otherwise Democratic election cycle thus far….”
