HERE HE COMES TO SAVE THE DAY!
“…Genuine guys are sometimes known as retrosexuals, to distinguish them from metrosexuals, who are men with the good taste of gay men, only they're straight. Metrosexuals are scrupulous about their grooming and are great consumers of men's cosmetic products. They use hair gel. Retrosexuals are scared of hair gel. Some people think that retrosexuals automatically have Neanderthal views about women, but this is not the case. A retrosexual is simply someone who doesn't know the difference between teal and aqua, and frankly couldn't give a damn….”

They call him Retrosexual.  The modern day prototype is a man not afraid to get dirty, sweaty, get his nails broken….the only thing he’s afraid of are snakes.
I’m loving this stuff (sigh).
“…1. Your mind is uncluttered. Consider the female brain, filled as it is with multiple anxieties about its owner's hair, figure, health, diet, clothes, shoes, emotions, digestive transit, sex life, competitive female friendships, multi-tasking duties as a worker/lover/ wife/mother/whatever.
Instead, your mind is focused on the important things in life: sex, beer, football. Women secretly envy a mind like that.
2. You can make decisions on your own. You don't need to talk it over for hours with all your friends, or consult a horoscope, or worry about feng shui.
3. You have strong arms which come in handy whenever bottles need opening, cases need carrying, or a girl just feels like gazing at a strong, muscular limb.
4. You do not clutter up the bathroom. No woman wants a man who owns more beauty products than she does. A man who showers, shaves, then gets out of the way is ideal….”

There is a Retrosexual code
You pay for the date – cash.
You open doors, you stand, you carry packages.
You do not cook unless it is nuking a an of baked beans.
You like sports on TV
You will never ever go see Sex in the City.
You need a car.
You never ask directions
You do not use onstar
You have guy pals, nothing gay, just pals.

In other words, think Tim the Toolman.

The era of the "metrosexual" is over.  "Real men" are now all the rage.  Somewhere in the post I read that John McCain was an example of the latter and Barack Obama the former.   As a woman actively interested in the other gender, I am  sick and tired of sensitive, prissed-up, smelly (perfume), manicured men.  I've started noticing, recently, that there is this sea change coming.

Is John McCain responsible for it? Or is Indiana Jones?  Maybe it’s just that time of the decade.   I'm not quite sure, but he may have helped give the prissy men the boot.  I don't mind admitting I've been what I consider a "Republican" version of a sorta conservative feminist most of my life.  There is this John Wayne allure of the "real man" that is rather attractive.

Anyone who says they do not react to people on some basic, primitive level is just plain lying to themselves.  Speaking as a woman, men like Barack Obama (race has nothing to do with it) repulse me.  I put him in the same league as Tom Cruise.  There is this aura that they don't have what it takes to do the real "man" things in life.

John McCain could appeal to some of these women.  I think one of the other things is how he treats women around him.  If we see  him treating his wife, daughters, aids, with respect, consideration, and as equals.  I've talked to a number of women, liberal and conservative, many of whom have noticed that Barack Obama is not "respectful" of women.   It's rather the exact opposite of Bill Clinton who may have a serious problem with women, but he always appears to "like women".

Race 42008 has the whole tawdry tale of how a few of the Democrat women are feeling about John McCain.    His almost over the top praise of Hillary Clinton today isn’t going to hurt, either.
“…Yes, Sen. Clinton is still in the race," McCain acknowledged to scattered laughter among the conservative crowd.   "I have known Sen. Clinton, I admire her and I respect her.  She has inspired generations of American women to believe that they can reach the highest office in this nation and I respect that."

McCain's praise drew a nice if not boisterous round of applause --  but he wasn't done.

After noting that he and Clinton had "stark differences" on issues, McCain continued: "But I admire the campaign she has run and I think she deserves a great deal of credit."

And, perhaps hoping that she'll keep the Democratic contest going into the summer, McCain said by way of punctuation that she ought not be totally discounted.

"I think the few of us who have been around politics for a while learned a lesson way back in 1992: that you better not count a Clinton out of any race."…”

John McCain is a Metrosexual. Barack Obama probably knows the difference between teal and aqua.  Need I say more?

There is a reason for this entire silly post.  I sense that trends are changing.  They do every so many years. Are we starting to see a trend change here?  Is the Barack Obama and his prissyness, exemplified by his limp-wristed bowling stance on the way out?  Personally, I find men like Barack Obama repulsive.  I don’t like dealing with them.  I’ve come to wonder if you can even trust or rely on them? There is a person Obama reminds me of, and in this case – no, you cannot.  There will be an implosion.

What does this have to do with Indiana Jones, Tim the Toolman and John McCain?  Maybe nothing.  But – maybe it is the whole election.  Remember back in 1992 when Bill Clinton ushered in that whole Metrosexual era – it was a tidal wave and a trend.

Like it or not, we are living in a time of a very serious war.  It has embedded itself into the American psyche.  For all the horror stories of liberals who mis-treat our soldiers, there are a thousand stories of people who are doing everything they can to let our heroes show how much we appreciate them.  The new face of the young American male isn’t a Barack Obama.  The archetype of the modern American is our hero soldier.  They are America.

Maybe John McCain’s time has come.  America has rediscovered her heroes.  Soldiers are the new “in” crowd.  If this is indeed the trend, then a Barack Obama is bucking the ‘trend’.  We don’t need some pampered pet of a poodle as POTUS, we need a real man who knows how to cuss, swear, spit, drink, take a punch, and is a real life genuine war hero.

Things could be changing.  If so, John McCain is the man of the era.
