The Pink Flamingo :: Amateur Hour, Abject Arrogance, or Both?

If any other individual running for POTUS were conducting the current version of the campaign the Obamassiah were conducting, it would be an object of much derision and laughter. Let’s face it, the current incarnation of the Obama National Campaign is not ready for prime time! Maybe it’s not the campaign, maybe it is the candidate. You can only coast so far on smoke, mirrors, and arrogance.

Over the years I’ve watched people enough to know that there are times when arrogance is a cover for incompetence. Then, I went back to the Merriam Webster definition of arrogance:
“an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions”

That could be one explanation. Another is incompetence. I found this fascinating article about incompetent people.

“…One reason that the ignorant also tend to be the blissfully self-assured, the researchers believe, is that the skills required for competence often are the same skills necessary to recognize competence.The incompetent, therefore, suffer doubly….``Not only do they reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the ability to realize it,…This deficiency in ``self-monitoring skills,'' the researchers said, helps explain the tendency of the humor-impaired to persist in telling jokes that are not funny, of day traders to repeatedly jump into the market -- and repeatedly lose out -- and of the politically clueless to continue holding forth at dinner parties on the fine points of campaign strategy….”

It is called the Dunning-Kruger effect. In other words, people who really know what they are doing have a tendency to underestimate their competence.

Why would someone opt out of federal funding when there is a possibility that the money isn’t there. If what went down in New Mexico the other day is any indication, it is possible the Obamassiah campaign is in need of funding.

Why constantly change position? It’s one thing to have an epiphany and change one’s mind about something. There’s an old saying that a wise man changes his mind but a fool never does – but this is ridiculous.

CHICAGO CORRUPTION
In today’s WSJ Opinion Diary, John Fund wrote:

“…"You will recall that for my entire political career here, I was not the endorsed candidate of any political organization here," Mr. Obama told Chicago reporters. "My reputation in Springfield [as a state legislator] was as an independent. There is no doubt I had friends and continue to have friends who come out of the more traditional school of Chicago politics but that's not what launched my political career and that's not what I've ever depended on to get elected, and I would challenge any Chicago reporter to dispute that basic fact."

Throwing down a challenge to reporters might prove uncomfortable for Mr. Obama. Good government groups in Chicago have long deplored his seeming indifference to the corruption in the Daley machine that has dominated the city since 1955. Indeed, Mr. Obama's chief strategist David Axelrod is also current Mayor Richard J. Daley's top political adviser. And while Mr. Obama was not originally elected with the help of the machine, once in the legislature he became a close ally of state Senate President Emil Jones, a cog in the Daley machine who has been the chief obstacle to passing ethics reform through the state legislature.

"Obama may pretend he is Obambi when it comes to corruption," says Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass. "But the fact is that you can't come from Chicago without having your involvement with its politics scrutinized." At Mr. Obama's invitation, here's hoping enterprising reporters start digging….”

How long is Obama going to get a pass here. Is he so arrogant he thinks no one will notice.

I’ve been reading several bloggers, columnists, pundits wax poetic on the fact that Barack Obama is not of this country. It has nothing to do with the great birth certificate kafuffle, but something else. Until moving to the mainland US to go to Harvard, Barack Obama lived in multi-cultural Hawaii, home of Magnum PI and McGarrett. I think the best analogy is comparing it to Ruidoso. This is a resort community. Any resemblance to real world, home town, heartland America is purely coincidence. There’s no reality here, only resorts, casinos, and tourists from Texas.

I take that back – the only resemblance to reality here is how close one’s friendship is with George W. Bush and family. If you can’t pick up the phone and make just one phone call to someone who can directly call the Oval Office, you don’t count here. For the past 8 years we’ve lived in this never never land knowing if something serious came up all it took was one phone call.

That’s not reality.

Barack Obama has no reality in his world. He went from a rather sheltered existence of Marxist purity to the socialist halls of Harvard, to the corrupt world of the Chicago political machine. He doesn’t know the mainland US. We’re a heck of a lot different from Hawaii. In fact, I’m wondering if some of the racist undertones we hear about on the Islands. There’s the native culture against the whites. The average people are against the upstart Japanese who have come in with money and pushed everyone aside, hogging all the real estate. If this is the case, and if indeed, he spent many years under the tutelage of Jeremiah Wright, then his view of America is so skewed and so corrupted he has no business running for POTUS.

If he were to go out and hoof it, put his family in the Obama Family Truckster and play “Vacation” driving cross country, no cells, no secret service, no hype maybe he might have an encounter with Cousin Eddie and end up having to put Aunt Edna on the roof of the car after she died halfway between the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff.

He doesn’t know the heart and the soul of the United States. No one, regardless of race or gender should run for any federal office if they don’t know America. If we were to require this, maybe our country would be a heck of a lot better off.
