PINK POLKADOT PIGS FLY

The thing I dislike most about Barack Obama is the fact that he’s made me defend Hillary Clinton.  This is one of the last things in the world I would expect to be doing, right up there with watching pink and lavender polka-dotted pigs flying.

There are some women who consider Hillary Clinton’s run for the Rose Garden something akin to a second magical mystical mystery tour.  There are those who all her efforts mythological. To that I say Bull! Magic has nothing to do with it.  There’s nothing mythological about it.  We’re watching a very ambitious woman who has positioned her ride to fame and power on her husband’s coat-tails. Dick Morris is right when he describes her POTUS run as entitled.  I think it is more like abject blind ambition.

I know a little about Hillary Clinton’s background.  During her school years she lived next door to some very good friends of mine, now long gone. She was driven, obsessed, and ambitious as a student, arrogant and cold.  Their children, who grew up with her, did not get along, especially the daughters. According to my late friend, Hillary Rodham attached herself to the rising political star of Bill Clinton and never looked back. Like the heiress who earns her money the old fashioned way by inheriting it, Hillary Rodham did the same thing.  She married it.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with inheriting money (my sister and I were disinherited) and marrying into power.  But to me it just doesn’t seem to be as honest and honorable as Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska rise to prominence.  She did it herself.  She did not marry power.  She did not inherit power.  She had power thrust upon her.  And – she is excelling as a natural born leader. She has been proven under fire.  She has strength, backbone, spunk, courage, and knows what she is doing.

Hillary has strength, spunk, and backbone.  I don’t think it takes much courage to rise to prominence on a spouse’s resume.  And that’s my problem with Hillary Rodham Clinton, aside from the fact that she is an extremely liberal Democrat. I’ve always thought she betrayed the feminist movement by doing things the old fashioned way – by marriage.  There is nothing wrong with assuming position, wealth and power through marriage, but that does not qualify a woman to be a dog-catcher let alone President of the United States of America.

Like Sarah Palin, I have worked for everything I’ve done, professionally.  Nothing has been given to me.  No one has helped me. I’ve not had one iota of assistance – nothing, nada, nilch. What I have achieved, I’ve achieved on my own – my very own – with no help from the peanut gallery. Granted, I’ve had the fortune of earning what little I do have the old fashioned way.  It has made life much easier, keeps Meow Mix in the bowl and allows me to be one of Amazon’s best customers. But – I can honestly say – professionally – I’ve fought for every single thing I’ve ever achieved.

That’s what I like about Sarah Palin.  She’s worked for her position.  Those of us who are pulling for her to be named John McCain’s VP are familiar with her achievements and her life-story.  She did not ride to power on a husband’s position.  She did not start life with the vaunting ambition to change the world.  She’s a wife, a hockey mom, the mother of a soldier, and a staunch defender of the unborn.  Six week old Trig Palin is a Downs baby, who goes to work with his mommy and is proof that Sarah Palin is quite a person.  Nothing has been given to her.  She has earned everything. She has earned the right, through hard work, to be under consideration as the first woman to grace a GOP ticket, and the first former beauty queen to be on either party’s ticket.

Hillary Clinton worked for the Rose Law Firm.  She was First Lady for 8 years, and is currently the junior United States Senator from New York.  She moved to New York a few months before announcing her run for office. She has been investigated.  She is detested by the far right. She is arrogant, and probably deserves many of the nasty things said about her.

BUT – she does not deserve the treatment thrust upon her by Barack Obama and the MSM.

And so, now I must defend Hillary Clinton as pink pigs with lavender polka dots dance and fly through the air. The way she’s being treated by the Obama campaign, the MSM, and Howard Dean, we may as well burn her as a witch, they way they did some poor women in India this week.

There has been a steady mistreatment of  Hillary Clinton by Barack Obama.  I would almost consider it a form of psychological abuse or psychological warfare.  She has been treated as though she is not respected.  She is not an equal.  She is someone who is being an annoyance and keeping the select from his coronation. Perhaps part of it is the fact that she has come to her position through her husband’s prominence, but that’s not the point.  She deserves to be treated with respect.

The woman has spunk.  She is a fighter.  I respect that in anyone.  She refuses to quit, sure it for political and economic reasons, but that’s beside the point.  No matter how hard Barack Obama bullies her, she stands, steadfast. I think that’s why Barack Obama is hemorrhaging “white” women. If you check the demographics of the group, you will note they are the ones who have been on the front-lines, demanding equal pay for equal work, shattering the glass ceilings, and becoming pioneers in every career choice.  After awhile the ability to tell just when one is being patronized and belittled becomes second knowledge.  That is how Hillary Clinton is being treated.

I will never vote for her.  I think Sarah Palin is a much better example of a woman who has fought her way to the top.  Hillary Rodham Clinton has coasted her way to her current level.  Maybe that’s as far as she will ever go.  She deserves to be recognized as the first woman in American history to fight the ‘big boys’ on their own turf.  If Barack Obama had not been such a coyote, she would be the person facing John McCain in the fall.

It is entirely possible Hillary Clinton’s political career may just be finished in a few days.  I hope not.  She has guts.  She hasn’t cheated, nor hit Barack Obama where it hurts, which is more than I can say about her opponent.  The one beautiful irony in all of this is the fact that the one who got her where she is may one day be considered the person who prevented her from being the Democratic Nominee for President of the United States of American in 2008.

On the other hand, Sarah Palin’s career is just getting started.  For all the Democrats posturing about feminism and minorities.  The most beautiful irony of all will be when the first woman sworn in as either Vice President or President of the United States of American will be a Republican.  If Barack Obama had not seduced the Dark Side of the Force, and if Hillary Clinton had been treated fairly by both the DNC and the MSM she would probably be the first women to be elected President of the United States of America.  But, she managed to out manipulate herself in both Florida and Michigan. Ergo, no delegates.

A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO VOTE
Years ago, I think it was Ronald Reagan’s 1nd term, my great aunt Mabel Perkins was adamant about voting, and don’t even think of doing it absentee. Born in 1886, she saw the world change.  She, my grandmother, their sisters and their mother (who survived a massacre by Little Crow in 1863 where her grandmother, siblings, and parents were butchered) they were some of the very first women in the city of Minneapolis to vote for the very first time in 1920. They all marched for women’s rights and the right to vote.  According to Aunt Mabel, we women must ALWAYS vote no matter when because a right given can be a right taken away.  “They gave us this right to vote.  They can take it away from us if we aren’t careful.”

I always remember Aunt Mabel when I vote.  At the time, I thought very little of her comment.  Now though, as the 19th Amendment comes under fire from Nativist and extremist Christian groups who want to repeal the right to vote for various  minorities.  This is even advocated by a Vdare columnist.  Ultra conservative Ann Coulter sarcastically mentioned repealing the 19th Amendment.
“…If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women….”

There are a few libertarian factions who think women should be disenfranchised.
How about this:
“…The power and ability to expand the size and scope of the Federal Government to effect the changes to society to corrupt the nuclear family and subvert the national identity was to give women the "freedom" to vote. Except the first thing women collectively did was to vote to limit, reserve, restrict or outright eliminate individual freedoms, starting with alcohol consumption. In all seriousness, the 19th amendment is a Pandora's box. Ron Paul has a more realistic chance to win the Presidency this Fall than there is any kind of hope that the 19th amendment would ever be repealed. Too many generations of women have been indoctrinated into the idea that their "freedom" is defined by the right to vote for more government dependency, more misandrist gender advocacy, the institution of unconstitutional peonage and unmitigated support for the divorce and abortion industries. It's going to take a society-wide, cataclysmic upheaval of apocalyptic proportions to reverse the trends that started with the advent of female suffrage….”

Or this:

“…Far too many women are fascists at heart. You can see this at work in almost every female-dominant organization and in the way that women's organizations constantly attempt to force change on everyone, men and women, who don't want it. Some people think the Founding Fathers had never even considered the thought of allowing women to vote, that it was just a historical oversight on the part of some unconsciously sexist men. I suspect that they knew perfectly well what they were doing, given the obvious connection between the female franchise and the West's continental drift into socialism….
Hate filled “Christians” call it “The Curse of 1920”.   Women are not considered “real persons”.
“…At the founding of this nation, our government emulated Yahweh’s government: (1) when a man and a woman were married, the two became one flesh, and (2) the man ruled over the woman.  This country had a patriarchal form of government; therefore, property was held primarily by men, and they governed exclusively.    The thirteen colonies established their governments and the government of this nation under the significant influence of Blackstone’s Commentaries, 1765 to 1769.  Blackstone stated:  By marriage, the husband and wife are one person in law; that is, the very being or legal existence of the woman is suspended during the marriage, or at least is incorporated and consolidated into that of the husband, under whose wing, protection, and cover she performs every thing; and is, therefore, called in our law—French a feme-covert, faemina viro cooperta; is said to be covert-baron, or under the protection and influence of her husband, her baron, her lord; and her condition, during her marriage, is called her coverture….”

There are perverse reactionary forces who are seriously trying to destroy the freedom women have in this nation.  Ironically these vile forces have nothing to do with Islam.  They come from the very far Christian Right.  Granted, we’re only dealing with a hand-ful of crackpot idiots who have nothing better to do than gripe about women.  There are even women, Ann Coulter included, who make snarky comments about women voting liberal, so they shouldn’t be allowed to vote.  Then there are the dim-wits who think women are so stupid that that do not make up their minds until the last minute. I don’t even think they are worth discussing.

Seriously, though, there is group within the Dominionist Movement who think women need to have their rights repealed. More about this – later.
