STICKS AND STONES
This evening after a long cooking session (nothing caught on fire or exploded, FYI) I sat down to start working on a couple of articles about Sarah Palin. My inbox was being accosted by requests for me to remove blogs from the I Vote the Elephant blogroll, to protest yours truly. First things first, I don't know what is the big deal about any blogroll. I know the requests were intended to insult, which is fine. To each their own. But to me a blog roll is no big deal. The world does not begin or end with them. If you find you can't stomach being on the same planet with me, deal with it. I do want to say that I removed the dump the UN blog roll, or what ever it is called several days ago when you told me to remove all of your blogrolls from The Pink Flamingo. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, but I don't see it.
NONE of this matters. My niece Laura is alive today! She had a life-threatening injury last night and the Lord touched her, saved her life. That's all that matters! In the ER they did not understand why she survived the injury. She's home holding court! My niece was nearly killed in an auto accident today. None of this petty you know what amounts to a hill of beans!
The only reason I am even writing about it is because it proves my point about the way the 'cult' conservatives have lost it. I think the more we can expose the forces manipulating the media into thinking the "conservative" base is against John McCain, the better.
Someone I thought was a blogging "friend" had turned out not to be one. I guess I'm right about certain versions of conservative turning into a cult where a person is no longer allowed to speak their mind. What this person wrote about me proves it. The thing is, through all his insults and misrepresentations about what I wrote, he never once was able to disprove any of my sources or facts.
I don't mind being insulted or misquoted. It puts me right up there with anyone else who has ever been misquoted. No big deal. I do find the reaction to what I wrote a bit over-blown to put it mildly. There is one thing and I want all those who are reading what Texas Fred wrote. I am very careful about my sourcing. I must be. I am a writer. In my specific field absolute impeccable sourcing is a fact of life. I don't care about the petty, silly, and rediculious names you people want to call me. Just spell my name correct and link to The Pink Flamingo when you do.
There is one other thing. Texas Fred actually thinks I would be so dishonorable as to remove the offending post from The Pink Flamingo or alter it to make me look better in his? eyes! Forget it. The post stays as is. I am proud of it. I can back up every thing I wrote in it.
When I was writing TRAVESTY: Frank Waters Anti-Earp Agenda Exposed, I learned something about the difference between "TRUTH" and verrifiable fact. Truth an be manipulated at will. Verrifiable fact is another thing entirely. I deal in verrifiable fact.
An Old Broad's Ramblings (I gather I am a GOP suck-up - GUILTY!) I think what she said about me is hilarious!
SOME OF THE EMAIL AND COMMENTS
(Names removed)
"...Just read "SEPARATING CONSERVATIVES & REPUBLICANS" on your site. I'm sure, if you have read NAME OF BLOG REMOVED, we are another 'evil' site right along with WorldNetDaily and others.I ask that you remove BLANK from your blogroll. Just remember, it is not conservatives who have ruined the Republican party, it is the RINOs like John McCain that have destroyed our party...."
This one is from someone who is a McCain supporter (I thought was another blogging friend). This one really hurt my feelings.
"After reading your insulting post about conservatives (of which I am one), remove me from the blogroll and your mailing lists."
This is such a to-do about nothing that it is silly, especially when I'm not the only one who feels this way. "...But this crack-up with the GOP won't just include conservatives pointing fingers. Moderates and pro-business conservatives will blame "talk radio conservatives" for making the party look xenophobic during the immigration debate, in turn, driving away Hispanic voters. If Obama can somehow manage to win two or more western states (like Colorado and New Mexico), it will give this argument more credence. These infighting episodes that political parties go through aren't called civil wars for nothing, so trust that the finger-pointing will be all over the place. Obviously, a McCain loss would also be coupled with a potential GOP slaughter on the House and Senate level, creating all sorts of new factions trying to blame one Republican constituency for the loss. In short, the GOP infighting under this McCain-loss scenario would be ideological in nature and very ugly...."
Harold Hutchinson at Called As Seen calls you guys UNPATRIOTIC CONSERVATIVES! And you thought I was rough? The other day Harold wrote:
"...Take some time to peruse those blogs (outside the posts I linked to), and see if you can describe where SJ Reidhead, The Anchoress, AJ-Strata, and myself tend to stand on issues.
I dare to say that most people would think that the four of us are probably in the mainstream of George W. Bush's political coalition. They'd peg us as Republican and right of center.
Yet all four of us are feeling less and less welcome in the GOP, and that is largely due to the fact that people like Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, and Ann Coulter have routinely talked down to us as if we were somehow not good enough to be in their club, and a lot of party leaders have gone along with their commissar act, and have not called them out on it. then of course, when this "new brand" of strict compliance was no savior at the polls, they demanded even stricter compliance, claiming a lack of principle was the problem.
The fact that people may have looked at their "true conservative" brand and decided to reject it does not seem to have crossed their mind at all. So they try a harder and harder sell, ticking off more and more people. By insisting on a coalition of the pure, they are literally shrinking their base of support. As long as the GOP goes along with that, then they will find their base of support shrinking as well...."
AJ Strata linked to the above post and wrote:I dare to say that most people would think that the four of us are probably in the mainstream of George W. Bush's political coalition. They'd peg us as Republican and right of center.

"...Some other folks people should be listening to on this matter of whether there is a conservative GOP (big tent) or only ‘true’ conservatives (pup tent). The Anchoress, who is leaving the GOP, and Harold Hutchison, who links other voices who have decided the purists are not the future.
If I may be so blunt as to remind those on the right that we are at war with religious fanatics who demand purity to their views at gunpoint. I am not equating Islamo Fascism with ‘true’ conservatives. I am only pointing out that a country which is tired of the war on fanatics, but sees no path out except to keep soldiering on, may take its frustrations out on the next best example they can find and impact.
There is too much demand to toe-the-line on ideological grounds for this nation to stomach anymore. By far the most cancerous and destructive variant comes from the Jihadis. But the endless griping between far left and far right is not earning respect or support either. At some point America is saying enough to the purists, we are going back to the respect on peaceful coexistence of diversity and impurity.
The reason the far right is losing so badly is they have not given up their purity wars. We are a war weary country and would trade diversity and peace over anger and fighting any day of the week. Just as the Iraqis are settling into their diverse, common ground to end the real fighting there, America is doing the same. With or without the fringes...."
I sent this letter to one of those Texas Fred readers who is angry with me. " I stand by every source and every reference. I've spent 2 years researching this stuff. That's why I am so mad. As for WND - I've called them down so often for mis-representing sources, manipulating, and just plain not telling the truth.
There was one instance down in Florida - WND basically lied about a specific situation. I decided to follow up on it myself - contacted the local media, people in question, law enforcement - lives were destroyed over their lies. I have one person who wants to work with me about what happened, but evidently she is rather close to the story and is afraid of someone there at home - someone WND supported.
Then there was a piece about a man who had lost his business location due to a business owner catering to immigrants and Hispanics. WND made this big deal about this man - basically sainted him. Problem was he was behind in his bills, his business had been purchased by someone else - there were a number of lawsuits against him - the owner of the location was fed up with him and basically kicked him out. I tracked his movements, he was kicked out of one apartment after another, year after year. WND never said any of this - made the property owner's life a living hell.
Why would I bother writing what I do if I did not have a story and were not telling the truth - considering all the hate mail and the death threats? I am a writer. I write books. I am in a field where you are only as good as your sources. I would no more use a "bad" source in my blog than I would a book or article I write. You can get mad at me and Texas Fred can slander me as much as he wants. Problem is - there is no way he can dispute the facts or sources on anything I write. I can back it up - every single thing. With the exception of Texas Fred and a few other sore-heads my work is very well respected. I am considered "fair" because I check out every angle of a story. Just because something is "conservative" is no sign it is good and something is "liberal" is no sign it is bad.
You haven't read much of what I write, I gather. What is so ironic is the fact that the article that sent Texas Fred into orbit is nothing new. I've been writing the same thing for two years. I've not changed one thing, only added new sources, material and dug deeper. I bet Texas Fred never told you that I have mentioned him in the past an example of an intellectually honest independent conservative, did he?
If you go through The Pink Flamingo and follow my sourcing and my links, you will find everything I write is completely referenced and linked with reliable sources. I know conservatives consider the SPLC a reliable source, but the only thing I've been able to unearth about them in 2 years is the fact that Morris Dees has a very messy love life. (So does my uncle). Once upon a time, before Moon started buying his way into power, he was considered one of the most dangerous cult leaders in the world. Now though - he's a respected conservative.
Did you know the owner of the Washington Times is Sun Myung Moon? (Moonies). If we were to apply illegal immigration laws fairly, as a convicted criminal (big time) he would be forced to leave the US. Did you know the former editor and his wife were good friends with Bill White, one of the top Neo-Nazis in the country. There are editorial ties to the CofCC, which has their annual conference with Stormfront another neo-Nazi group?
The top anti-immigration groups are all financed by John Tanton. Why do you think Sam Brownback went after Tom Tancredo during the primaries. Brownback discovered that Tancredo had taken over $28,000 (over the years) from Tanton, who is one of the top pro-abortion people in the country. Tanton's publishing company, Social Contract Press, publishes things connected directly to the KKK and neo-Nazis. This is true - it is confirmed - it is documented. They don't care.
This week an organization with Tanton ties - Grassfire - sent 75,000 faxes calls, emails to the offices of 10 Republican US Senators. Numbers USA sent something 624,000 of the same to these same people. Both are operated by John Tanton. They are the most vocal lobbying groups on the Hill. Tanton detests John McCain. He controls another organization which has vowed to destroy my friend, Lindsey Graham. Lindsey is my friend. He is probably the finest man to ever serve in Washington. I am so angry over what is being said about him that I get fighting mad. He is too good and too decent to deserve what is being done to him by conservatives.
I feel so passionately about what I write that I have 4 to 5 books I've put on hold. I've made it my mission in life to get this information about Moon & Tanton out to the public. I don't know about you, but I don't like being manipulated. And yes, these organizations are incestuous and manipulative. Richard Viguerie (who tried to keep Reagan from running for a 2nd term) is owned by Sun Myung Moon. Viguerie is one of those conservatives I am trying to take out - he's nothing but a two bit carnival barker or con man. The same holds true of Alan Keyes, Chris Simcox, and Bill Greene. I knew Chris well before he started the Minutemen. I know the whole story behind the formation of that organization. The average person who lives in Cochise County considers it an embarrassment. ... With the minutemen, before it is over, someone is going to be going to jail for a very long time.
There is another blogger who's name I will not mention. ... He and I started investigating the Minutemen, Simcox, Gilchrist, Barbara Coe, the CofCC and their ties to Stormfront. He had to stop blogging for about a year because of death threats.
We are dealing with some very serious do-do here. People need to put aside their passions and start looking at the whole story. It is vile, repulsive, and nasty. When I started digging into this I would sit at the laptop and cry it was so bad. Tanton has an agenda. So does Moon. Why do you think the Clintons went out and recruited George Soros? They needed someone with very deep pockets to counter Moon.
This is bad stuff here. People like Viguerie, Paul Weyrich, Howard Phillips are glorified as conservative gods today by people who consider Reagan the 2nd coming. The problem is each one of these men betrayed Reagan - knifed him in the back - and now lie about it.
I don't like people who lie. I don't like people who are unfair and mistreat others. I see something very nasty going on with conservatives and the actions of a few people today just prove my point."
