The Pink Flamingo :: What Is the Price of a Conservative Soul These Days?

Today the Anchoress mentioned if the GOP does not trash the farm bill, they are not worth saving. I don’t think many of them are, and for much the same reason. They’ve sold their souls to the highest bidder who an rally constituent support. All you need to do with this bunch is blast fax and say, “I’m an unhappy constituent who will not vote for you if you do not do as I say.”

I don’t know how you can expect anything else out of a group of men and women who have sold their souls to the likes of John Tanton and Numbers USA. They quake in their boots and sprout their perfect conservative records, while some openly consort with the likes of the minutemen, Chris Simcox, and Jim Gilchrist. They cower in their Italian loafers when James Dobson calls them out of class. They will do anything to maintain their ACU ratings so Rush Limbaugh will not make them the object of one of his viscous parodies and make fun of them on national radio.

Let’s face it, when the Chairman of the American Conservative Union, David Keene, castigates John McCain for removing lobbyists in his campaign, something is wrong. When did lobbyists, most of whom have the reputation of bottom-feeders become sacred – bosom buddies to the conservative’s conservative? Houston, do we have a problem?

Just as I completed the last paragraph, this found its way to my inbox.

And you wonder what is wrong? All it took were 75,000 faxes and phone calls to cause Jim Inhofe, Tom Coburn, David Vitter, Jeff Sessions, Charles Grassley, Johnny Isakson, Saxby Chambliss, John Barrasso, Elizabeth Dole and Jim Bunning to sell their souls. It wasn’t about the military spending bill – it was about amnesty.

It is all about the lobbyists.

John McCain was right.

I guess you can't expect much when you sell your soul and vote for 75,000 blast faxes from Grassfire.
