I will not mourn their passing. Evidently, as all the little nasties start circling the wagon and finances just don’t add up like they should, all is not sweetness and light in Minuteman land. According to Jim Gilchrist, they’ve lost. Let’s face it, when you create an organization that involves a bunch of racists, thugs, and con-artist, not to mention the various personality disorders of its founder, you’re bound to run into a little problem every once in awhile. No, the demise is not eminent, but it is coming.

Now is not the time to start singing and celebrating their demise. Far too many of them are still around.

In two years, the grass-roots border-control group had grown to boast more than 200 chapters across the country….More than 20 chapters, including the Skokie-based Illinois Minuteman project, have disbanded, leaving fewer than 180 in operation.Dozens of chapters are fighting with one another and vying for attention, he said."Donations are way down. Communication is way down … instead of people getting organized and unified, they're attacking each other more than the issues," Gilchrist said. "We're still fighting the fight, but I want to be clear: I'm firing a warning shot." Lindenhurst resident Rick Biesada, director of the Chicago Minuteman Project, calls the infighting "disheartening. Everyone wants to be a chief these days. But nobody wants to be an Indian."When chapters close, Gilchrist said, more times than not members do not join another chapter -- they leave the movement.

The hundreds of members of the Illinois Minuteman Project, which shut down after leader Rosanna Pulido went to work for the Washington-based Federation for American Immigration Reform, haven't joined the Chicago project, Biesada said.Jack Martin, a project director for FAIR, could not comment on whether his organization has reaped the benefits of the Minuteman chapter's collapse."I don't think that we have any good idea as to whether people who come to us have been members of Minuteman chapters or are members, we don't have that data," he said….”

SHERIFF JOE SHOT DOWN!
If you surf the usual anti-immigration organizations, many are not updating their web sites. Sheriff Joe is soliciting donations to fight those nasty illegals. Last week the Governor pulled the plug on his recent antics.

Janet Napolitano has ordered the state to end an anti-illegal immigration contract with the Maricopa County sheriff so she can pay for a larger effort to track down thousands of felons around Arizona. Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Tuesday criticized the governor's decision as a maneuver to thwart his efforts against illegal immigrants. "Dirty politics are at work right now," said Arpaio, who was flanked by Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, state House Speaker Jim Weiers and state Rep. Russell Pearce at a news conference. ll four men have staked out hawkish positions on illegal immigration reform. The sheriff has been criticized in particular for letting thousands of felony warrants go unserved while he chased after illegal immigrants. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, there are about 59,000 outstanding, unserved felony warrants in the state. The majority of those are in Maricopa County.Pennie Gillette-Stroud, the DPS chief of the criminal investigations division, said Napolitano's task force will focus on violent, repeat criminals as well as undocumented aliens with felony warrants.
"We can go into different regions, concentrate on suspects that are problematic in other areas," Gillette-Stroud said. The task force will be led by DPS and will combine local, state, federal and tribal authorities to track down felons around Arizona. We're hoping in the next few weeks to have the task force up and running, said Bart Graves, DPS spokesman. DPS hasn't put a price tag on the task force. "We're putting together a plan with a budget to help determine those figures," Gillette-Stroud said. But to help pay for the task force, DPS said it won't renew a $1.6 million contract with the sheriff's office. The contract ends May 17th, Graves said...."
