The Pink Flamingo :: Jose Canseco Victim of Personal Stupidity, High Taxes, Not Economy

Jose Canseco blames much of his financial failure on the high costs of taxes and coughing up something like 41% of his income to the government! Our anti-McCain, anti-Bush conservatives have blown it this time. Jose Canseco should be the picture boy for lowering taxes, not the economy. Instead Malkin is treating us to one of her dumbest commentaries ever. She is using Jose Canseco’s defaulting on his mortgage as proof the economy is so darn bad. Ummmm …… Ms Malkin, where have you been and what do you know about Jose Canseco? The man is a walking disaster that has nothing to do with the bad economy. The man is a poster child for how to ruin one’s life in ten easy steps. I wouldn’t be too upset about it. If he hits skid row, MLB has a “welfare rescue plan” that will tide him over until he can draw his considerable MLB pension.

In all fairness, I must admit Jose Canseco was NEVER one of my favorite players. In fact, I completely disliked him and considered his vastly over-rated as a player.

It really helps to know something about the subject you are waxing poetic about - before you press save. Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows Jose Canseco has blown millions. He is the poster child for steroid proliferation. For someone who hasn't killed anyone, he's rapidly becoming the MLB version of O. J. Simpson. Let’s be honest here. Jose Canseco’s economic woes have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the economy. Malkin quotes the LA Times Blog, but read through the comments.

Pursuing Holiness, another non-Republican conservative picks up on the story.

Why bother struggling and fighting to pay my bills when we can find some way to weasel out of obligations we freely undertook but now find inconvenient? We set the example for our daughter that it’s important to keep your word. The trust that is created when people fulfill their part of that social contract is the fuel that keeps society going. It’s what keeps doctors providing healthcare, colleges full of students, and George Bailey providing mortgages so that we don’t have to live in Potterville….”

This has nothing to do with the blasted economy. It has everything to do with Jose Canseco’s lifestyle, his steroid use, and the way he has flaunted his life-style. Don’t go blaming GWB and then throwing trash on John McCain for someone like Jose Canseco who is the exact opposite of what we all believe.

I can’t say that it’s a ringing endorsement, but if you’re lucky, maybe Mike Tyson or Dennis Rodman will have a spare room available….”
