SUNDAY, MAY 18

There is a very nice, thick covering of the white stuff on the mountains! I’d say there’s at least 6 inches to a foot in the ski area!
I’m cutting my daily blogging short today for a change. I’m going to quit early and go read – or something - maybe. I spent about 2 hours composing an article about the new Zogby hit poll on John McCain. I made the mistake of composing it on Blog Harbor and not on word. I went to save it and lost the whole article. Let’s just say the whole poll is done in a highly suspect and very unreliable ‘interactive’ where volunteers sign up to take the online poll. The whole poll is giving those who dislike John McCain ammunition to go after him. It’s a very cheap shot, an Newsmax is part of it. I told you not to trust them.
It is giving plenty of fodder to the "conservative" independents, the Libertarians, Constitution Party, non-GOP Conservatives, and hard-line anti-immigration hyperactives I'm going to christen "Tantonites". You are going to be hearing quite a bit about the poll among those who are out to denigrate Senator McCain. Just fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy ride. In fact, if you go back to Newsmax, and I refuse to link to it, there is an interview with Dr. James Dobson saying "Christian" conservatives who have family values are going to sit out the election and let the GOP get what's coming to them. In other words - the GOP is asking for a defeat - let Barack Obama win. That's good, isn't it?
The reviews are starting to trickle in. Could this be THE YEAR OF THE OLD GUYS? First we have Big Mack, and now Indy. Do I see a trend here? And – the gets the girl in the end!

This name calls for a brief passing notice, as one associated with pleasures which we have all enjoyed in childhood. It is but little and even dubiously known, that the universally diffused Tales of Mother Goose, to wit, Blue Beard, Tom Thumb, Cinderella, &c., were a production of this celebrated French writer. After having spent along life in more or less profound studies, and produced several learned dissertations, it pleased him to compose these fairy tales, probably to amuse a little son who had been born to him in his advanced age. It was in 1697 that these matchless stories were given to the world at Paris; not, however, as the production of Charles Perrault, the accomplished and esteemed scholar and critic, but as the work of Perrault d'Armancourt, his son, who was as yet a mere child. They have since been translated into nearly every language. Perrault died in the seventy-sixth year of his age.
