OBAMA IN ORBIT!
“…I understand when you're running for office
you sometimes think the world revolves around you --
that is not always true and it is not true in this case….’

I keep promising myself I am going to leave it alone. I try to keep from writing about Barack Obama. I really do. I swear. Durn, what does the little twitty Obamassiah do but go and give me more you know what to write about. Dang blast it all!
I’ve tried to detail the Battle at the Kennesit as best I can. As a historian I am well aware that history belongs to the victors. Let’s face it. Our WONDERFUL President wiped the floor with the Obamassiah and his precious little worshippers today. It was a thing of beauty. It has made me sad to think this great man is only going to be in office for a few more months. I’m already missing him.
“…the President is President, regardless of an election cycle. And he's going to be the President of the United States until January 20, 2009. And we are not going to change policy based on the '08 election. We're not going to stop talking about the ideals and the values of the United States because there's an '08 election. They can fight it out for themselves over there, but this is not new policy that the President announced and it should come as no surprise to anybody that the President would talk about this. He talks about it in almost every interview, and in particular when he's talking about the issues of Hamas and Hezbollah, al Qaeda, the Taliban, Iran, other state sponsors of terror. It's long-established United States policy.…MS. PERINO: I'm not going to get into '08 politics. The speech was not about '08 politics. If they want to try to make it about '08 politics -- and obviously be helped by the media -- so be it. But the President is President of the United States. This is a long-established policy that he has held and that he has talked about all over the world. And you guys have seen it for seven-and-a-half years. It's not going to change now….”
GWB’S TRIPLE PLAY & GRAND SLAMPresident Bush had an unassisted triple play today. I don’t think it can be described as anything else.
1. He looked good, Presidential, and shot the Lame Duck image.
2. He put John McCain back in the headlines – as A Leader.
3. He made Barack Obama look like the thin-skinned immature little twit that he is.
He then followed up the unassisted triple play by knocking a grand-slam out of the ballpark.
He completely ignited the Dems, sending them into orbit.
He caused Barack Obama to flip and flop again.
He allowed Dana Perino to come up with the best one-liner insult of the whole campaign season!
And – he proved all of those who say he is the worst President ever wrong – by proving he is one of the greatest ever.
OBAMA’S BUSH LEAGUE REPLY
If you are not a baseball fan, you may not know what “bush league” implies. To put it succinctly if you are a baseball player you are not ready for prime time and probably never will be. To imply that someone is “bush league” is an insult. I don’t know of anyone right now who needs to be insulted more than that thin-skinned pretender.
Power Line
“…It is time to turn the page on eight years of policies that have strengthened Iran and failed to secure America or our ally Israel. Instead of tough talk and no action, we need to do what Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan did and use all elements of American power -- including tough, principled, and direct diplomacy - to pressure countries like Iran and Syria. George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the President's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel….”
BIG MAC ATTACKS BACK
NYTimes
“…Senator John McCain, who has been critical of President Bush on the environment and other policies this week, on Thursday morning wholeheartedly endorsed Mr. Bush’s veiled rebuke in the Israeli Knesset of Senator Barack Obama that talking to “terrorists and radicals'’ was no different than appeasing Hitler and the Nazis.
“Yes, there have been appeasers in the past, and the president is exactly right, and one of them is Neville Chamberlain,'’ Mr. McCain told reporters on his campaign bus after a speech in Columbus, Ohio. “I believe that it’s not an accident that our hostages came home from Iran when President Reagan was president of the United States. He didn’t sit down in a negotiation with the religious extremists in Iran, he made it very clear that those hostages were coming home.'’…”

THIN SKIN’S RESPONSE
“Obama campaign response to Senator McCain’s embrace of President Bush’s false attack in Israel today: “It is the height of hypocrisy for John McCain to deliver a lofty speech about civility and bipartisanship in the morning and then embrace George Bush’s disgraceful political attack in the afternoon. Instead of delivering meaningful change, John McCain wants to continue George Bush’s irresponsible and failed Iran policy by refusing to engage in tough, direct diplomacy like Presidents from Kennedy to Reagan have done,” Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said….”
The Opinionated Catholic is being especially hard on the Obamassiah today.
Flopping Aces has excellent coverage of this very fun day.
Strata Sphere has the Middle East political view of the speech.
Flap on why McCain is right.
Let Freedom Ring is enjoying the situation!
Paul Whener at Commentary Magazine nails it:
“…Obama’s faux anger in reaction to Bush’s speech is ludicrous. For one thing, the President did not even mention Senator Obama in his speech. What the President was rebutting was a (fairly prevalent) cast of mind, one which is shared by Obama but by many others–including Jimmy Carter, who just returned from the region, as well as a people serving in Bush’s own State Department.
For Obama’s communications director to call the President’s remarks an “unprecedented political attack on foreign soil” is utter nonsense. More than that, though, Obama’s reaction is exactly the kind of “distraction” that he constantly complains about–even when the issues raised are legitimate ones to discuss (like his association with the Reverend Wright). To take a serious address like the one President Bush delivered in Israel today and shoehorn it into a campaign is exactly the kind of thing that drags down political discourse in America–and is the opposite of what Obama claims to represent.
With every passing week, it seems, the gap between what Obama says he is and how he acts is widening. His campaign’s latest attack looks contrived, petty, and stupid–unworthy even of our “old politics.”…”

TKO - GWB!
THE SUICIDE BOMBER CONSERVATIVES
I don’t understand these people. The arrogant hard-line anti-Republican conservatives who like to think of themselves as “The Base” (what a joke) are already lamb-blasting John McCain over his great speech today. What the heck do these people want? I think even more important is the question who do these people think they are?
Abdul at HyScience thinks the whole speech is proof he will not be voting for McCain this fall, but will stay home.
All Malkin can think about is “amnesty”.
I think anyone who sits out an election HAS NOT RIGHT to even open their mouth to complain about the results afterward. They have abdicated their right to do so
A PINK FLAMINGO NOTE: I stole the term "Obamassiah" from someone today - and I don't remember who it was. Please forgive me. It was just too good not to use.
