THE HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME
(BUT THEMSELVES)

Once again a Republican wannabe has been sent packing, tail between his legs.  There are several reasons for this.  Unlike this gloom and doom blame everything on GWB post from Race 42008, President Bush IS NOT the problem! We all know all the little cowardly conservatives who dance around the anti-immigration bonfire singing the sky is falling, and deport 'em all are the ones who are to blame.  They sound more like Barack Obama who doesn't have the intellectual capacity or the maturity to shoulder the blame himself.  They are a bunch of sniveling cowards who jump whenever anyone shouts "Immigration" and do what ever the basest among the extreme conservatives and pro-abortion extremists demand. They deserve exactly what they are getting.

The House leadership is pathetic.   We should demand anyone in a leadership position resign and let someone with a little maturity, courage, and ideas take over before the GOP in the House and the Titanic have much in common.  Ruffini thinks they should be given a second chance.  I think John Boehner needs to resign his leadership post NOW!  He is a proven loser.

We need to start vetting our candidates.  The GOP did not need to lose these last two special elections.  Both candidates were flawed.  They were tokens thrown in to be losers.

There's one other little thing:  A very big thing, actually.

The Dems have learned how to beat the GOP at their own game.  They are fielding very attractive moderately conservative candidates.  They are not fielding liberals.  They are running moderate candidates.  The GOP, on the other hand, continues to beat the dead conservative elephant.  Their candidates are becoming more and more extreme on the conservative end.  And - conservative - today - is a massive loser.  Why do you think John McCain won?  He is moderately conservative.  He is not extreme.

People aren't stupid.  Even Southern Republicans in Mississippi who should be "good ol' boys" and know all the secret hand-shakes and where all the bodies are buried are getting fed up with the hard line status quo.

Then there is this:  Davis ran on hard line immigration reform.
"...What are your proposals for immigration reform? Any meaningful immigration reform must begin with the basic understanding that this is a matter of national security. America must secure our borders and our ports of entry. Also, we must enforce existing immigration laws. Amnesty must never be an option. Americans are just and right in expecting that those desiring to become citizens do so in a legal manner. Congress has the right and responsibility to "to establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization" and Congress must do so...."

Hard-line immigration reform is a total loser.  Greg Davis ought to know that northern Mississippi is changing.  People are moving out of Memphis, esp. to get their kids into better school systems.  I know for a fact (my sister having lived there for 23 years) that the school system in Memphis is vile. This means a more 'liberal' minded group of people are now occupying what had once been a heaven for the CofCC.  You can't run hard line conservative in an enlightened world anymore.

Unfortunately here in New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District, we are going to be facing another GOP loss as our GOP wannabes try to out conservative one another.  It ain't gonna fly here. Once "conservative" was good, but now there are nasty implications with it.  It's like this back yard, 'let's get rid of all 'them Hispanics' sort of thing.  Republicans LOSE when they take this hard line. They have lot every special election where they have gone hard-line anti-immigration.

So what are the Dems doing?  They are running attractive, moderately conservative, but not extreme conservative, pro-life candidates who are moderate on immigration reform.  They are beating the you know what out of the John Tanton, Numbers USA, FAIR, Minuteman endorsed freak show we call immigration reform candidates who pretend to be Republicans.

Change - by golly the GOP needs change.  We need change in the HOUSE immediately or the GOP is going to go down to a historic defeat.  Let's put it this way, if Tom Tancredo approves of a candidate, he or she is a born LOSER!

Let's also be honest about Greg Davis.  He did a bone-headed thing a few years ago by offering to take the statue of Jefferson Davis that was being dumped out of Memphis.  I have a feeling the whole race card was very much a cheat here, costing Davis the election - perhaps.  I doubt if he lost any conservative votes over it, but just enough Barack Obama supporters in northern Mississippi may have been riled up enough to go vote for the Dems.

We also need to be honest about one other thing.  The Dems are manipulating race. If Barack Obama is the nominee we can be treated to months of white race baiting.  It's a fact. You just look at him cross-ways and you are a racist. Wizbang has more.

Except - Greg Davis wasn't just beaten, he was creamed. The Dems have learned how to beat the GOP at their own game.  We're the losers.  Face it.  Until we have some half-way decent leadership in the House it's only going to get worse.
"...Rep. Tom Cole, the Oklahoman who chairs the NRCC, expressed disappointment. "Tonight's election highlights two significant challenges Republicans must overcome this November," he said. "First, Republicans must be prepared to campaign against Democrat challengers who are running as conservatives, even as they try to join a liberal Democrat majority. Though the Democrats' task will be more difficult in a November election, the fact is they have pulled off two special election victories with this strategy, and it should be a concern to all Republicans. "Second," Cole continued, "the political environment is such that voters remain pessimistic about the direction of the country and the Republican Party in general. Therefore, Republicans must undertake bold efforts to define a forward looking agenda that offers the kind of positive change voters are looking for. This is something we can do in cooperation with our Presidential nominee, but time is short." Cole encouraged all Republican candidates, incumbents and challengers alike, to "take stock of their campaigns and position themselves for challenging campaigns this fall by building the financial resources and grassroots networks that offer them the opportunity and ability to communicate, energize and turn out voters."..."

If Tom Cole continues thinking this way - we're gonna lose - the whole house.  Geez = start thinking beyond the box. Use your head.  Get off the immigration band-wagon.  Quit cowering before the holy host of multi-millionaire talk show hosts who aren't the least bit GOP.  Learn how to comprehend the difference between non-GOP conservatives who do not have the best interests of the GOP at heart and REAL Republicans.

Then there is the very real possibility that with such a lopsided result 54 - 46 that Greg Davis was not liked by the rank and file GOP.  The turnout was so low it looks to me like they hung him out to dry.  There must be a reason.
