The Pink Flamingo :: Big Bad Leroy Obama

Earlier today, I received an email. I cannot go into the details other than the fact that evidently, in order for a person to get tickets to an Obama event, they must sell their souls to work for Obama. Tickets require work. Work includes going door to door like certain religions (think about the one Michael Jackson belongs too) seeking converts. I emailed back and told her this sounds like some sort of a cult. Low and behold (heavenly choir please as a beam of light shines from the heavens onto Obama's saintly head) I find this little ditty from Race 2004 (as I stole their photos).
".... had just finished doing an undisclosed activity at Church and a friend asked me to check out Barack Obama. I couldn’t say no to my Lutheran friend.So I drive up to the Obama office and I noticed a crudely spray-painted image of Barack Obama and a cross. So my friend and I walked in. A cross on the wall and a tall black man (a Professor of mine) greeted me. Behind him were two elderly ladies wearing crosses. So they launched into their pitch about how Obama would care for the poor and the “least among these”.I can’t attest to how Obama’s other 15 campaign offices in Kentucky are run. In this one the appeal to Evangelical voters is in overdrive...."
I don't know about you, but there is something very distasteful about this whole affair. What next? Is Tom Cruise going to join the movement, and run around in his underwear, bouncing on Opera's sofa? Does this leave you with the same bad taste in your mouth as it does mine?

Even more annoying - but wait - we're talking Barack Obama here. The man can't tell the truth if he were being tickled into it."...Sen. Barack Obama has said voters are not seeking

"a litmus test on faith" so much as "an assurance that a candidate has a value system and that is appreciative of the role that religious faith can play in helping shape people's lives." Obama, a longtime member of the United Church of Christ, told an audience at an April "Compassion Forum" in Grantham, Pa., that "what those of us of religious faith have to do when we're in the public square is to translate our language into a universal language that can appeal to everybody."...
What is Barack Obama's religion, aside from political expediency? According to the Rezko Watch today, the NY Times is reporting something similar to the LA Times article.

ST. BARACK OR BIG BAD LEROY OBAMA?
John Kass wrote in the Chicago Tribune

"...."I think I have done a good job in rising politically in this environment without being entangled in some of the traditional problems of Chicago politics," Obama told reporters and editors at a Tribune editorial board meeting several weeks ago...."I know there are those like John Kass who would like me to decry Chicago politics more frequently, and I'll leave that to his editorial commentary," Obama said.

Not the politics, just the corruption, I said then, wishing silently that he had decried it all, that he'd stood up years ago and pointed to the list of sleazy deals, pointed an angry finger at the Duffs, the white, Outfit-connected drinking buddies of Daley who received $100 million in affirmative action contracts through City Hall. That's an easy political commercial for the Republicans: Mobbed-up white guys party at the old Como Inn with Daley, and they get $100 million in city affirmative action contracts and Daley doesn't know how it happened and Obama endorses the mayor in the name of reform. Obama had nothing to do with the Duff deal. But he kept mum. He has endorsed Daley, endorsed Daley's hapless stooge Todd Stroger for president of the Cook County Board. These are not the acts of a reformer, but of a guy who, as we say in Chicago, won't make no waves and won't back no losers. Obama the reformer is backed by Mayor Richard M. Daley and the Daley boys. He is spoken for by Daley's own spokesman, David Axelrod. He was launched into his U.S. Senate by machine power broker and state Senate President Emil Jones (D-ComEd)...."

Why did Barack Obama work for a major slum lord?

The most fun, and I know I shouldn't be indulging in such, is the Rezko Watch reports on Barack Obama's tabloid future. Like I said, his life is starting to sound more like Big Bad Leroy Obama...This is rather strange, since (gag reflex) there are some who already are hailing him as the next Messiah! (I'm serious. See for yourself. You aren't going to believe this do-do.

Does it not seem as if our country today is all locked up, constricted, restricted, with ever shrinking mobility and freedom of movement?

Perseus had help from the gods. Does it not feel as if some special hand is guiding Obama on his journey, I mean, as he has said, the utter improbability of it all?

The instructions to not directly look at her, but to look at her reflection in his shield. What is Obama's shield, in essence? I propose it is his belief in hope, redemption, and his ability to channel the essential goodness of the American people. The Perseus myth clearly indicates he should not confront his opponent by face-to-face, tit-for-tat combat.

Of especial significance for me is the star Mirfak, the elbow of Perseus's sword arm. At some point, he does need to utilize his elbows, and when the moment comes, cut strongly and swiftly.

And lastly, let us not forget that the comet is BLUE.

So let us have hope, the gods are on our side, and the Hero will prevail...."

Then there is the cult that is growing up around him. His followers are now comparing him to Jesus. Yep, they are. Deal with it.
