A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE?
Something has happened this week. I only hope and pray John McCain has not peaked too soon. While Barack & Hil were battling for the nomination, Big Mac was acting Presidential on his tour of Iraq, Israel, and the UK. I am throwing some strange and assorted links for you as I take off for the day. It’s Maundy Thursday and I don’t know if I am on Alter Guild duty this evening. I don’t like this service – way too much humility for me. I am also including a link to Mad Irish Man’s commentary on Big Mac today.
It’s like a disturbance in the Force, or, to continue the analogy, The Return of the Jedi, during the battle scene, where the little Ewoks were getting slaughtered. Then the battle started to turn. I wonder if we aren’t now in a position where the battle is starting to change a bit. Things have looked so dark, like The Empire Strikes Back, and Han Solo has been carted away by Jobba the Hutt. But now, Han is free and fighting again. The Emperor is still cocky but we’re reaching the point where maybe he can be destroyed.
I could be wrong.
But I don't think so. To continue the Star Wars analogy, the Light side of the Force could be winning, for a change.
Wizbang reminded me of something today. Jay Tea has a excellent post about John McCain’s courage. McCain in Sderot McCain Victory 08 has more on Big Mac in Israel from a different angle.
There is a Townhall link to Medved’s discussion of Obama’s lack of truth. If you do not have a membership with Michael Medved, his shows on Tuesday and Wednesday are well worth the price.
I’m not sure how all of this works together, but then again, OBL is really annoyed with the Pope.
The Caved Infidel (as opposed to the Caved Crusader) is highly concerned that the Pope is launching a new “crusade”. The Vatican is protesting way too much about Benedict not launching one. I wouldn’t even be mentioning this but I found this fascinating little tidbit yesterday. As a student of British Medieval History, I find this a week bit intriguing and more for what it’s worth. Something is going on with the Knights Templars. They’ve been going through a turf war the past couple of years, but evidently things have been settled. I would have let all of this pass, but I heard something on the news this morning that the Pope is very much interested in this War on Terror. Evidently there are signs that the foes of rational modern life might be losing – big time.
Add to this an interesting little post from the Gates of Vienna.
“…Iran: Parliament to discuss death penalty for converts who leave Islam Tehran, 19 March (AKI) — In its first session since last week’s general elections, the new Iranian parliament is expected to discuss a law that will condemn to death anyone who decides to leave the Muslim faith and convert to other religions. The parliament, also known as the Majlis, will debate the new law which has been presented by the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Under the proposed law, anyone who is born to Muslim parents and decides to convert to another faith, will face the death penalty. Currently converts, particularly those who have decided to leave the Muslim faith for Evangelical churches, are arrested and then released after some years of detention. The new legislation, which has caused concern in Iran and abroad, was proposed mainly because of fears of proselytising activities by Evangelical churches particularly through the use of satellite channels.-- -There has also been concern over fact that many young people in Iran have abandoned Islam because they’re tired of the many restrictions imposed by the faith. According to unofficial sources, in the past five years, one million Iranians, particularly young people and women, have abandoned Islam and joined Evangelical churches….”
The first Christian church in Qatar has opened.
We hear that the protests in Tibet are spreading.
