WHAT’S A DECENT KID TO DO?
I find this whole Ashley Dupre bandwagon disgusting.  I have no sympathy for her.  Check out the Opinionated Times.   Outside the Beltway has more.

I’ve spent many years working with young people (i.e. teens) primarily via a church setting.  In fact, I’m working on a book for teens about growing up a decent young woman in today’s permissive society.  Girls today don’t stand a chance.  They are assaulted from every angle.  Over half come from broken families, where working parents have no time from them.  They see nothing wrong with pre-marital sex, pregnancy, and raising a child without the sacrament of marriage. A fifth of the girls of this coming generation will have been sexually molested or assaulted by the time they reach the age of 18.

Modesty is not in their vocabulary. Those who might be a bit ‘modest’ are then faced with images of Lindsey Lohan posing nude, not for Playboy, but for mainstream New York magazine. You want to get ahead?  Cultivate the perfect body, flaunt it, then pose nude.

Nothing is done to improve their minds. Indeed, they are one of the most ignorant generations since the public school system was invented. They are barely literate. But that really doesn’t matter because colleges and universities have dumbed down their requirements to the point where even the most dim-witted bimbo will be accepted.

All that really matters is their little bodies must be perfect for that cute little tattoo they have on their tushies and that adorable little pierced naval. They have reached the point where the 10 Commandments are no longer even the 10 Suggestions.  Why force some archaic system of rules and regulations on a society when they might be mis-construed and might inflict psychological harm on those with different religions.  The poor twits are so ignorant (as are their teachers) that they do not realize the vast majority of history’s religions have similar rules and regulations.  How could they?  They’ve never stepped foot in a church in their lives.

They can tell you how to put a condom on a banana, but can’t tell you why adultery is wrong.

The worst part of all of this is the effect someone like Ashley Dupre has on decent girls who have parents who have done everything right.  There are still innocent girls in the world.  Sure they know more about life than I did when I was twenty-five, but they are still trying to live a decent life.  They work and struggle.  They fight society to retain their innocence.  A few are even sold the bill of goods that you work hard, live a good life, and do what is right and you get ahead.

What a crock!

Evidently all a girl needs to do in this day and age is sell her body to a man twice her age.  I’m not that stupid.  I know women and girls have been doing this forever.  It is, after all, the oldest profession.  But – society always frowned on these women.  They were ostracized, ignored, and marginalized.  They were talked about with whispers behind opened fans.  They dared not show their fully attired bodies in civilized society.  In many ways they had better lives than the girls who had to be protected, but that is another story.

Today, though.  A girl who sells her body to the highest bidder can get a posh NY highrise apartment with all the amenities if she is good at what she does. She then gets to promote her questionable talent, probably a book and movie deal, and ends up a star.

The decent girls her age are working their way through college working at Walmart or some other store, barely making a living. They go home to a ‘first’ apartment with hot and cold running roaches.  Lunch is left-overs from the parent’s last visit.  Their first ‘real’ post college job with allow them to have the basics, if they have a room-mate.  Then comes marriage, a couple of kids, divorce, re-entering the work-force, beaten down by life at age 40.  If the little slut hasn’t cooked her brain on drugs, she will be living the celeb life-style, while our girl struggles to keep the kids in decent school togs.

It is a cynic’s view of things.  But – I’ve learned there’s not much reward in virtue except for the satisfaction of reveling in one’s virtue.  The only real answer for either girl is Christ.  The problem – why should the virtuous girl live a life of virtue when the girl who sells her body to the highest bidder gets all the glory and all the rewards?

How does a parent explain these things?  I have no idea.  I’m just thankful I’m not a parent.
