THURSDAY THIRTEEN
THE PINK FLAMINGO’S 63RD EDITION THURSDAY THIRTEEN
My name is Bond, James Bond

You may want to listen to this music while you read.  I cannot find a trailer for Dr. No, the movie that started it all, but I did locate the original intro and music.  You might get a kick at how tame it was.

I am a James Bond “fan”.  I can remember when I was a little kid and wanted to go see Goldfinger.  My argument, “But the Kay Nimmons went to see it.”  My mother’s comment, “Sometimes I think Effie Nimmons lets her children see things I would never allow you to see.”  You need to realize Kay was my best friend and Effie was my mother’s ‘soul mate’ best friend until her death from breast cancer a few years ago.  My sister and I were not allowed to see James Bond movies (in theater) until we were old enough to drive ourselves.  Consequently, when we went to see Man with the Golden Gun (with Kay and Patti Nimmons) we thought we were hot stuff.

By that time, though I’d seen every film on television, so I don’t know what the big deal was, because I was by then a Bond fan.  I still am.  But – I think Daniel Craig is an abomination.  George Lazenby was better than Craig.  My favorite Bond, and I know it is blasphemy, is Pierce Brosnan.  You see, James Bond is ‘a real man’!

(Why don’t these things ever happen to me?)

The moment videos were available for sale, I started buying the Bond movies, or else painstakingly taping them off the movie of the week.  Maybe the reason I love Bond movies so much is because my grandfather was always there watching them with me.  As he grew older and started having memory problems, I could always put on a Bond movie and it would tweak his memory.  I would have my grandfather back for a few hours.

I could not find a theatrical trailer for Thunderball. I refuse to patronize any James Bond movie that contains Daniel Craig. I think it is time Bond fans revolt and demand he go the way of the dodo and replaced with either Pierce Brosnan or Clive Owen!

P. S.  I probably will not be doing a TT next week.  I’m going to be in Tombstone!

JAMES BOND TRAILERS

1.  Live and Let Die
Okay, it's my favorite Bond theme, and one of my very favorite songs.  (Trivia - what does Live and Let Die have in common with The Spy Who Loved Me?)

2.  Diamonds Are Forever

3.  On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
I’ve come to the conclusion this movie deserves more respect than it has received in the past.  I also think the best part of the film is that we do learn what James Bond wears under his kilt!  I'll take Lazenby over Daniel Craig any day of the week.

4.  Octopussy

5.  Tomorrow Never Dies

6.
License to Kill

In many ways Timothy Dalton, in this one, is probably closer to the vision of who James Bond actually was than in any other Bond movie.  Dalton is my 2nd favorite Bond.

7.  From Russia With Love

8.  The Spy Who Loved Me
I must admit, this is my very favorite Bond movie.  I think it’s the soundtrack.  FYI - Did you realize it co-stars Mrs. Ringo Starr?

9. Goldfinger

10.  Die Another Day
Pierce Brosnan looks his best in this one (sigh). How they could replace him with that twit, Daniel Craig I will never know.  I gather by now your realize I think he is a disaster as Bond.

11. Goldeneye

12. You Only Live Twice

13.  Man With the Golden Gun
