THE ULTIMATE FLIP-FLOP!
According to the LATimes blog, one of Romney’s sons (Jack ) said Mitt is tanned, rested, and ready, and may rejoin the race if as a VP or if something happens to McCain’s campaign. “…Because he suspended rather than terminated his campaign, Romney still retains control of the nearly 300 delegates he's already won. Another former governor, Mike Huckabee, remains in the race and is nearing Romney's delegate totals, though few give him a realistic chance of catching McCain, with more than 900 delegates. On some Sunday morning talk shows, Huckabee maintained his belief in "miracles" and said the race was not over until someone gets 1,191 votes….”
There was a tidbit of gossip I ignored the other day, but am tossing it in now. Lucianne told Radaronline
that she’d heard that former Romney operative John Weber was behind the NYTimes debacle.
“…Sources told Radar that one of these associates was John Vincent (Vin) Weber, a former Republican congressman from Minnesota who was an advisor to McCain's presidential campaign in 2000. In 2007, Weber became Policy Chairman for the Romney for President Exploratory Committee. Weber did not immediately respond to a message left with the receptionist at Clark & Weinstock in Washington this morning, where Weber is a partner. The message said Radar would report that Weber was one of the sources of the story in the New York Times. The receptionist said Weber was in a meeting and could not come to the telephone….”
I’d heard this one. I think I also mentioned that Weber denied everything. I always go back to the fact that Drudge had part of the story in December. We all know Drudge was in Romney’s back pocket. I also mentioned if there was something to the story, Warren Tompkins out of SC would have run with it. Then, making things more fascinating comes an article from CNS (which I almost never use) about the Mass GOP and Romney.
Now we find that Wizbang has picked up on the same thing. Is there a story here or must more conservative anti-McCain hatred? I keep telling you that you can trust conservatives about as far as you can trust liberals. If Romney were so popular, why was he forced to use $42.3 million from his own pockets into his $98 million campaign? This is what has always puzzled me about the Romney campaign. If conservatives were so in love with him, why was he forced to use much of his own money and yet it can be argued that Mike Huckabee who has spent around $8 million did just as well, if not better.
