THE WISDOM OF STAR TREK
We have been far to serious lately.  Tonight we are going to have some fun.  A great philosopher once said “Everything I need to know if life I learned from Star Trek.” While I do dislike casting John McCain in the role of T’Pring, most infamous scheming hussy in the entire Star Trek universe (which is considerable).  Unfortunately, it is a perfect analogy.  The wit and wisdom of The Great Bird of the Galaxy is undisputed.  He had a very real connection with the foibles of humanity.  His vision of the future and commentary on life is what made Star Trek so timeless.

He gave us everyday lessons for real life such as
“Seek out new life and new civilizations
Non-interference is the prime directive
Keep your phaser set on stun
Humans are highly illogical
There is no such things as a Vulcan Death Grip
Live long and prosper
Having is not so pleasing as wanting; it is highly illogical, but often true
Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations
Tribbles hate Klingons (and Klingons hate tribbles)
Enemies are often invisible- like Klingons they can be cloaked
Don't put all your ranking officers in one shuttle craft
When your logic fails, trust a hunch
Insufficient data does not compute
If it can't be fixed, just ask Scotty
Even on our own world, sometimes we are alien
When going out into the Universe, remember: "Boldly go where no one has gone before"

Set your phasers on Stun, not kill.
The needs of the many outweight the needs of the one.
When logic fails always punch the Gorn in the jaw.
You will always pay a price for touching the tears of a woman from Troyos.
The more complex the society the greater the need for play.
Never get between a mother Horta and her eggs.
Kodos will eventually pay for crimes against ‘humanity’.
Be careful how much you feed a tribble.
Vulcan logic can be ruthless.

In the case of the latter we can use Pure Vulcan Logic to illustrate the dilemma the Democrats now face.

In Amok Time, Spock’s ‘wife’ T’Pring basically manipulated combat to the death between Spock and Captain James T. Kirk by choosing Kirk, Spock’s best friend and commanding office to be her champion.  With Spock under the madness of Pon Far he had no idea what he was doing. Long story short, Dr. McCoy slips Kirk a “mickey” and tells Spock that Kirk is dead.

“…"T'Pring – explain."
"Specify."
"Why the challenge? And why you chose my captain as your champion?"
"Stonn wanted me; I wanted him."
"I see no logic in preferring Stonn over me."
"You have become much known among our people, Spock; almost a legend. And as the years went by, I came to know that I did not want to be the consort of a legend. And by the laws of our people, I could only divorce you by the ka-li-fee. There was also Stonn, who wanted very much to be my consort... and I wanted him. If your captain were victor, he would not want me, and so I would have Stonn. If you were victor, you would free me because I had dared to challenge – and, again, I would have Stonn. But if you did not free me, it would be the same; for you would be gone. And I would have your name, and your property... and Stonn would still be there."
"Logical – flawlessly logical."
"I am honored."
- Spock and T'Pring, as she explains her choice of the challenge to Spock…”

WITH APOLOGIES TO JOHN MCCAIN
John McCain is like T’Pring.  He is in a win-win situation when it comes to his two potential Democratic opponents. Currently, polls are showing him ahead of Hillary Clinton by a few points.  He is a few points behind Barack Obama, who has not been subjected to the negative barrage of publicity either McCain or Hillary have faced.

WHO MOURNS FOR OBAMA
Our flawed, god-like creature who just wants to be worshipped has eschewed the Hispanic vote.  Our god-like junior senator for Illinois does not like to be questioned. He has the arrogance of the god Apollo, with all of his rhetoric.  He envisions a utopia where his followers rally round the campfires, worshiping the god as they herd their sheep, sip on their wine, and toss back olives and a little feta cheese.  He offers “Change”.

BREAD & CIRCUSES
Kyle-Anne Shiver wrote at American Thinker
“Then, consider these numbers on  recent Google searches using only Obama's name plus one other word:
Obama + messianic  75,200
Obama + savior  226,000
Obama + prophet  312,000
Obama + Christ 504,000
Obama + change 4,540,000…”
She has an excellent and chilling discussion the rhetoric in Barack Obama’s speeches.

THE TROUBLE WITH HILLARY
The High Cost of Hillary
“…Second, even if Hillary Clinton does win the nomination, the bitterness of the contest may have done irreparable harm to relations with African-Americans. Many blacks will not forget what the Clintons have done against Obama—and they might not forgive them, either. That won’t be true of all African-Americans—but it may be true of enough to make a difference.  Third, we will see if we’re at the stage in American politics when people eschew the brass-knuckle tactics utilized and perfected by the Clintons in the 1990's. Senator Obama is staking his candidacy on the proposition that the country, including Democrats, are tired and fed up with scorched-earth political tactics—and are willing to exact a price at those who employ them….”

Do Hispanics hold the key to the election this year?

Obama & Hillary and their voters.

“…One claim I've seen thrown around to explain this pattern is the existence of racial threat. According to this story, Obama's race isn't an issue in overwhelmingly white states because race isn't salient there, whereas Obama can win in states with large black populations using a coalition built on black support. But in states with moderate black populations, race is sufficiently salient to reduce his vote totals among whites and he can't ride the black vote to victory in the same way as he does in more heavily black states. I'm not sure if that's true, but the data are at least broadly consistent with the story. Another pattern observed in exit polls is that Obama has not done as well as Hillary Clinton among Hispanics. At the aggregate level, the data do show that he's done worse in states with larger Hispanic populations, though the association doesn't seem to be particularly strong:..."

AMOK TIME
It is rather beautiful.  The logic is pure Vulcan.  If we could get our Suicide Bomber Conservatives to behave themselves and embrace Big Mac, and quit attacking him, there is no reason to be full of doom and gloom.

If the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton, she will have pulled something a little tacky, and completely alienated the African American vote.  The GOP can reach out and try bringing a whole new group of people into the party.

If they nominate Barack Obama, he will have serious problems with the Hispanic base.  John McCain has a tremendous amount of credibility with them. The illogical part – building a party on based on voting blocks and minorities instead of offering a solid platform of lowering taxes and security from terror.  We are in the middle of a very long war.  We cannot afford to let either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama win.

Pure Vulcan logic – it’s a beautiful thing.

We’re having a little fun tonight.  I found a top secret file of the crew of the Enterprise NCC-1701 battling the Borg. After all, there's not much difference between the Borg or the Democrats, is there?
