CONSERVATIVES ELECTED OBAMA

I've been reading email and articles for several days now.
The problem with circling all the little conservatives and hope and pray for victory in 2010 and 2012 is conservatives alone are impotent when it comes to winning for the GOP.
These are the facts:34% of Americans view themselves as conservatives.
Do the math - What about the other 66%?  Take away about 25% as liberals and you're left with 41% of the American voters who are neither conservative nor liberal.
They are that dreaded "M" word - moderate. Now, of that blessed 34% of Americans who are conservative - 20% of the them voted for Barack Obama.
That tells us that for one thing, 2006 was not a fluke. We are left with 14% of conservatives who may or may not vote GOP.
When you also add to the fact that 5% of the GOP sat this one out - you go and huddle conservative and the GOP is doomed to extinction.
The only way to win is to market the GOP to moderates.
You don't dump your values, you emphasize them. You go with fiscal responsibility.
WE DEMAND accountability of our elected GOP officials and DEMAND they eject the Larry Craigs and the Ted Stevens.
Next, you pray Obama does decide to use the dreaded "Fairness Doctrine".
Nearly half of the American voters think it is necessary.  He uses it, we are the victims.
PLUS - we demand equal time via the MSM - where we were treated like dirt.  It works both ways.Secondly, we figure out a way to quarantine Rush Limbaugh.
I know 3 reliable Republican voters who voted for Obama because they are sick of him and what he stands for.
He cannot deal with the fact that conservatives alone are proven losers.I hate saying this, but I look at things without the warm and fuzzy feelings of kumbiya and the demands that we shift even more extreme conservative.
We emphasize the fact that Ronald Reagan said anyone who votes with him 80% of the time was his friend and allies. We go back to Reagan, and not this strange and perverted version of what the conservative celebs think he was.  Go back and figure out who he was:

  • Positive
  •
  • Kind
  •
  • Generous
  •
  • Funny
  •
  • Giving
  •
  • Self-Deprecating
  •
  • Patriotic
  •
  • Faith
  •
  • Honor
  •
  • Decency
I'm heart sick after crunching the numbers.
Those 20% of the conservative "Base" doomed this election from the very beginning.  That's a huge number.  While they may have voted for GWB we cannot rely on them, that's for sure.
You also need to realize that many of the "religious" conservatives who are the voice of doom left the GOP some time ago and are doing their best to destroy it.
You also need to understand that Richard Viguerie, Howard Philips, Paul Weyrich and their friends are the ones who BETRAYED Reagan.
I'm sick when I hear everyone discussing "conservative".We need to be talking Republican.Until people realize that "conservative" is not necessarily Republican we're in deep you know what.  It's that simple. There are too many misidentifications when it comes to "conservative" that it hurts our cause to be "conservative" over Republican.
1.  There are conservative Democrats.  Obviously 20% of voting Americans consider themselves Democrats.
2.  The Ron Paul Bots are "conservative" and not Republican.
3.  Richard Viguerie and Bob Barr are Libertarian  and "conservative".
4.  Howard Phillips runs the Constitution Party, which is also extremely "conservative".
The only way to win is to go back to being Republicans, first, last, and always.
Ronald Reagan was a "conservative" Republican.  But - he always identified himself as a Republican.  He never went off into little conservative groups, he fought as a Republican.
Until conservative who vote Republican understand if they do not have enough pride in the brand to call themselves Republican, then they are doing nothing but running around in circles screaming that the sky is falling.
Go look at the liberals - they are proud Democrats.  That's how they are winning.  If a party as extremely liberal can capture 20% of the 34% of American voters who identify themselves as "conservative" then conservatives are in big trouble.
This is going to make a number of people angry, but I've reached the point where I really don't care.  Until we can create a REPUBLICAN presence on the web - a real, loyal Republican presence we are doomed to abject and complete failure.
All the talk of recruiting good candidates, etc is a crock.  It will fail.  Until we can figure out a way to bring in 20% now voters who do not identify themselves a conservatives, but are moderates we've lost.  I don't give a rip about wallowing around in a losing ideology.
I want to win elections and regain our majority.
Remember if a person agrees with 80% of the GOP platform we can haul 'em in - with those attributes of Reagan.
Why do you think Sarah Palin went over so well?  It wasn't because she is  pure "conservative".  It is because she has the same qualities Reagan had.
I'm going to use the Pink Flamingo as a positive Republican presence on the internet and fight for my beloved GOP.  You will not find me involved in things that say "conservative" or "right".  I am not going to divide my efforts into something that is a proven loser.  Only the GOP brand - where we unite people who believe 80% of what we do, can win.
Edwin J. Fuelner, Jr. the President of the Heritage Society said of Ronald Reagan in 1985:"'
'It is unlikely that the Reagan era will prove to be the historic change in the direction of America that we have sought.''
On December 15, 1987 The Boston Globe reported that Howard Phillips said of Reagan:
“…Americans who heard the chairman of the Conservative Caucus, Howard Phillips, call Reagan "a useful idiot for Soviet propaganda" knew they had strayed into the darker corridors of the conservative cellar. The yelping from Phillips and Richard Viguerie, the direct-mail entrepreneur of the rabid right, can be interpreted as either the symptom of a hallucinatory condition or a calculated political stunt to prevent Reagan's belated effort at statecraft from discrediting conservative dogma. When the president said right-wingers opposing the INF treaty believe, in their deepest thoughts, that war between the superpowers is inevitable, he expressed an understanding that had to rankle the fanatics who thought they were responsible for placing Reagan in the White House. With an inquisitorial flourish, they excommunicated their erstwhile conservative champion for his heretical statement, uttered on camera, that Gorbachev is different from his predecessors because he does not seek communist domination of the world. The reactionaries' attacks on Nancy Reagan, chief of staff Howard Baker, Secretary of State George Shultz and Defense Secretary Frank Carlucci were not only displays of bad taste; they also revealed a right-wing demonology.
Phillips wrote in The New York Times that Reagan has fallen under the spell of advisers who "have advanced policies that benefit Armand Hammer and David Rockefeller but hurt America." In this conspiratorial world view, "summit meetings and so-called arms-control treaties are a cover for the treasonous greed of those who manipulate the administration."..”
