AN INFORMAL SURVEY
Last night I spent some time visiting with 4 colleagues:
Ron Paul leaner
Libertarian-Independent
Social Moderate
"Normal" Conservative
All but one voted for John McCain. The way things stand now, only 1 of those people would vote GOP in a generic election with a generic candidate. Only 1 now "identifies" as Republican, but all were Republican at one time.
I posed the following question: If Sarah Palin were at the top of the ticket would you vote for her. All four said they could and would vote for her!
There was one caveat. My Libertarian-Independent leaning friend wants to see who she would be running against. All would now automatically vote for a generic GOP if Barack Obama were the DNC nominee. All consider Barack Obama an absolute disaster and don't see how he can possibly govern he is so blatently unqualified. All have a very low opinion of anyone who voted for him.
None of these people were social conservatives. Only 1 is slightly interested in "social" issues. They want to see the following on the GOP Platform:
1. Fiscal Responsibility
2. Lowering Taxes
3. Ending Earmarks
4. Remove Corrupt Republicans Immediately
5. Cutting All These Bailouts
6. Increased National Security
7. Continue War on Terror
8. Treat Our Military Decently
Logic dictates that this is a plausable way to go. Let's see what happens. So far, I've yet to speak to anyone who is not enchanted with Sarah Palin. From my brief encounters with friends and colleagues it is obvious she is a winner and the Democrats worst nightmare. 2. Lowering Taxes
3. Ending Earmarks
4. Remove Corrupt Republicans Immediately
5. Cutting All These Bailouts
6. Increased National Security
7. Continue War on Terror
8. Treat Our Military Decently
