Are Barack and Michelle Obama ready for prime time, or is Oprah going to steal the show?

I am a White House junkie, a third generation White House junkie. My grandmother Froehlich was so bad, she had to have a cup and saucer like the china Nancy Reagan ordered. Then again, the Reagans were my grandparents’ version of the Beatles.

Like her mother before her, my mother avidly watches everything that is behind the scenes White House.

I guess this is time to admit so do I. One of my ultimate fantasies is to be in charge of the Christmas decorations at the White House one year.

Any good White House junkie can tell you what goes on “behind the scenes” or point you to the latest television series about it. So, the discussion with the women in my family was centered on just how much does Michelle Obama know about the White House. I don’t think she knows that much about the way the White House operates. My statement is not intended as criticism. In fact I think a good 90% of American women even know what goes on inside the White House. This is not a criticism of Michelle Obama, but rather American women in general. It is a criticism of the abject and ongoing deplorable ignorance of our American culture by the vast majority of our citizenry.

While I do not agree with her politically, I think the wrong Obama was elected POTUS. I think Michelle Obama is stronger and more “with it” than the messiah-elect.

I’ve heard rumors that Oprah has loaned Michelle Obama her stylist and is helping her with tips on how to dress, etc. If so, she is doing a great disservice to our First Lady – elect. Michelle’s wardrobe choices are woefully lacking for her new position in life. She needs to be wearing things that are bold with big, bulky jewelry. Her neckline needs to be low and rounded. At least she is wearing bright colors, which are great on her.

I don’t mind admitting I neither like nor trust Oprah. She has way too much money and power. If she is helping to outfit Michelle Obama she is doing her ‘dirty’.

Does Oprah have bigger and better things on her mind?

How long will it be before she “horns in” on Michelle Obama’s game and begins offering advise here, a chef there, a costume change, and before you know it she and her guru de jour are snuggled up in the Lincoln Bedroom, just a heart-beat away from The One.

Let’s face it, she has a great big juicy crush on The One, and is rich enough and powerful enough to pull the rug out from under the woman who is describing her new roll as “First Mom”.

This has all the makings of some tawdry romance novel, with Oprah as the big bad witch out to do the poor little wife in and take off with the “hero”. Only this time, the “hero” is such a narcissist and so pathetically incompetent, the little wife would be a heck of lot better off without him.

I don’t agree with Michelle Obama’s political views. But, I don’t wish her ill. I find the way some liberals are rushing to compare the pending Obama years with the Kennedy Camelot “dream” as something out of a nightmare. Don’t these fools know how the story ends?

Okay, if the storyline plays out, Michelle will emerge as a very rich widow with her children the most photographed kids in the world.

History is repeated by fools who aren’t bright enough to lean not to repeat it.

I truly pity Michelle Obama. I have no doubt she is a quick study and will be a gracious successor to Laura Bush. It’s too bad I don’t feel the same way about her husband, who is so in over his head…!

Please don’t forget to pray for these people. The need to know Christ.

Also pray that Oprah has the good sense to leave them the heck alone. I don't think she will. I just hope Michelle has what it takes to give her the boot before Oprah gives it to her.
