The Pink Flamingo :: Is McCain Going After Barack Obama and What Will Obama Do?

The McCain campaign is finally going to take out Barack Obama (or are they)? The Politico informs us that Barack Obama is going to go on the offensive to take out John McCain's offensive against Barack Obama.

"...McCain officials told Politico that the new offensive is likely to focus on Rezko and Ayers. The officials said the campaign will not bring up the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s former pastor, because McCain has forbade them from using that as a weapon. Without being specific, the officials said outside groups may focus on Wright.

When word of the planned attacks leaked Saturday, Obama officials said within hours that it was an attempt by McCain to distract voters from the economy.

“We think the McCain campaign made a huge error by telling the press that their strategy was to distract from the most important issue facing voters,” a senior Obama official said. “Every attack going forward will be easy to characterize for what it is – an attempt to distract from the Bush-McCain economic record."

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds hinted at the tough new line Saturday on “Fox & Friends.”

“There are associations that are important to who Barack Obama is as a candidate, who he’d be as president,” Bounds said.

Obama-Biden communications director Dan Pfeiffer said about the new ads: “If John McCain thinks he can ‘turn the page’ on the economic crisis facing American families, he is even more out of touch than we imagined. Now there may be no good answers for John McCain due to his erratic response to the financial crisis, but his desire to avoid discussing the economy is something we will remind voters of everyday for the next month.”..."

Is it possible Barack Obama is afraid of THE TRUTH? After spending several years writing a book about Frank Waters, who wrote "truth", let's call it provable facts. Is it possible the bully that is The One is nothing but a quivering bowl of jello hiding from his questionable past associations?

It's not about someone having a friend who is a terrorist. It is about friend after friend after associate after associate, all having connections to everyone else. It is about judgment. It is about the people The One would put into power. With John McCain, we know we're going to see the likes of Joe Lieberman in the Cabinet. With Barack Obama, is Bill Ayers going to be the new Sec of Education?

"...As first reported by Politico's Mike Allen Saturday evening, Obama has a new TV ad, too, that says: "Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year. Our financial system in turmoil. And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy. No wonder his campaign wants to change the subject. 'Turn the page on the financial crisis' by launching dishonorable, dishonest ‘assaults’ against Barack Obama. Struggling families can't turn the page on this economy, and we can't afford another president who is this out of touch."..."

It just dawned on me, Barack Obama is a true bully and abject coward. He can dish it out, but he can't take it. Naturally Obama is going after McCain with the Keating thing. If you don't know it yet, there's a message here. When it comes to Barack Obama, if someone opposes him, he will DESTROY them. He will destroy their home, their family, their future, their profession. If you don't know it now, please be aware, NO ONE dares take on Barack Obama and not have their life completely disrupted. He will win at any cost. The end justifies the means.

I agree with Hugh Hewitt.

"...And yet there is a tone in the Obama campaign’s counter-attack on Palin that suggests they believe their man is highly vulnerable on the matter of Mr. Ayers. We all know about their attempts to suppress documents regarding the relationship. But since the Palin speeches – and for the first time in weeks -- they have played the race card. Palin’s attacks were “racially tinged,” they’ve charged. It is hard to see how the Alaska governor’s actual words support this view – but racism the biggest bomb in their accusation arsenal, so it looks as if they’ll use it whenever the McCain campaign gets too close to the Obama-Ayers connection. It is a good rule of thumb in politics: If someone over-responds when you hit him, hit him in the same place again. He is hurt, even if he’s trying not to show it. ..."

Tonight's debate will be quite interesting. We shall see what happens. Right now though, Obama is reacting way too much when it comes to the whole Ayers thing. Maybe he's protesting just a little too much!
