DEMS WISH!
The other day I wrote about the alleged Conservative Crack-Up.  After I published it, I made a few more interesting discoveries that have led me to conclude just the opposite is going on.  Sure, there are any number of individuals speculating on how to 'rebuild' the conservative movement after the big loss next week, but I sure hope they don't know more than we do.

Six months ago if you had told me far right conservative end of the GOP would come together with the moderate end (I'm not talking Powell or Weld) and work directly with the PUMAs I would have said it was fantasy.  Low and Behold!  Even Michael Savage has endorsed John McCain!

Regular Pink Flamingo readers may remember how annoyed I've been with Rush.  He has been downright inspiring lately.  The monologue he did on Wednesday about the US Constitution should be required reading for all American high school students. It was one of the single best commentaries I've heard to date about the Constitution.

Michael Medved has been a God-send. He is working with Hugh Hewitt and Dennis Prager, traveling the country - on their own, doing their radio shows, to support John McCain.

Something though, is up with Mitt Romney.  I don't think Romney is involved in this.  He has been too gracious this election season.  But, his supporters are allegedly staring a turf war allegedly with Palin supporters.  There is still speculation about 2012.  I take him, unlike Barack Obama, to be a man of his word.  He says he's not all that interested in 2012.  Maybe that's the problem.  Maybe his supporters won't let it go. Maybe someone else is making problems.  I think we're starting to get a better grasp on who the problem makers are - but they aren't representative of a "crack-up".

There are some conservatives like Raffuni and Rush who are debating, out loud, amongst themselves the direction of the "movement", but I find this a bit premature.  I do hope they do not head to the Tancredo end of things, not when we just could be presented with a glorious new future.

We have a heck of a lot of PUMAs who have chosen to come into the GOP for a time.  There are thousands of conservative Democrats who have changed parties.  Are we just going to leave these people hanging, or do we welcome and accomodate them into the GOP.

Conservatives are going to need to decide if they are part of the GOP or are going to go somewhere else.  We all know a third party is not a viable option.

One of these days the grown ups, like Michael Medved, will take over and we can start acting like a party of adults.  But, right now, I am so proud of the way everyone has come together.

We need to put the alleged bickering out into the open - and attack it for what it is, Democrats making the most of one or two sore heads. We need to realize that reports of this 'crack-up' have been greatly exhaggerated, so that we will look bad and the Dems will look good.  Right now it is all about voter turnout.  The Obamaites are trying to play a mind game to keep us from voting.

Don't let them.
