REPUBLICAN v. SOCIALIST
The One, who is heading home to Hawaii to check on his ailing grandmother, leveled a cheap shot about health care, his mother's death due to ovarian cancer, and socialized medicine.  Riehl World View has an interesting take on the timeline of his mother's death and Obama's rise to political fame.  In February he ran an ad about his mother's cancer.
"...My mother died of cancer at 53. In those last painful months, she was more worried about paying her medical bills than getting well. I hear stories like hers everyday. For 20 years Washington has talked about health care reform and reformed nothing. I've got a plan to cut costs and cover everyone. But unless we stop the bickering and the lobbyists we will be in the same place twenty years from now. I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message because to fix health care we have to fix Washington...."

From Rehl World View:
"...Obama paints himself as this empathic figure. Yet, we know he has a step-brother living in a hut in Kenya, or wherever. And his Mother lay dying for almost if not a full year without a visit from her son - and now he trots her out in commercial because she was fighting with insurance companies?

Doesn't that bother anyone? It doesn't add up to someone who cares about anyone but himself if you ask me.

My mother died of cancer at 53. In those last painful months, she was more worried about paying her medical bills than getting well.

And this man is the guy who is supposed to care about health care issues for everyone else? You're kidding me right? A Harvard grad and a lawyer and he lets his Mother lay dying in pain and worry for a year without so much as a visit?

Frankly, that's repulsive as far as I'm concerned. He couldn't see his Mother because he was running the CAC and having lunch with Bill Ayers? Geesh!..."

My Bad:
Stupid me.
For some strange reason I had this feeling Obama lost his mother while he was still a very young man who was unable to assist his mother.  I was left with the impression that she had such problems paying for her treatment because her son was too young to assist her.  Pardon me for being such an idiot!  We're dealing with a vital, successful, up and coming young politician who obviously did not give a damn about his mother and did not lift a finger to help support her during her final illness.

He talks about her struggle to pay the bills and get health care coverage.
Did he even care?
Did he even help her?

Contrast this to Lindsey Graham.  When Lindsey was a senior in high school, both of his parents succombed to very expensive illnesses.  Lindsey was left with a young sister, whom he adopted.  He was left with several hundred thousand dollars in medical bills.  Instead of abdicating his duties to his parents and his sister, while in college and law school he worked to pay off those bills, which he did in a fairly short order.

You will never hear Lindsey discuss the struggle for his parents to pay their bills. You will never hear him discuss socialized medicine.  You won't hear much about any of this from him.  He is almost reluctant to talk about his nearly heroic role in caring for his sister, parents, and paying their medical bills.

Quite a difference, isn't it?  Lindsey's story is the true Horatio Alger tale.  Too bad the MSM is so busy worshipping their false messiah that they have failed to see a very real heroic effort to be a good and decent son.  Of course that would put a kink in their agenda of socialized medicine and how something like long and lingering illnesses destroy the lives of those who cannot afford good insurance.

Even worse - investigating the story any farther would expose their tin god to the light of day, and like the little roach he is, he can't stand illumination.  Lindsey, on the other hand, is a good friend to John McCain.  Therefore, he can't possibly be good.

If you really want to know how to solve the health care - why not talk to a man who has handled the worst life could throw at him as a teenager, and emerged heroically.
