THE MSM LOST
I've just realized something. Have you heard much about Troopergate these past 10 days or so? Neither have I. Suddenly, though, now that Sarah Palin has proved people like Adam Brickley, Stephen Maloney, and your humble blogger right, low and behold, the AP socks us with a Troopergate story! When the Obama Campaign and its lapdogs in the MSM thought McCain was on the ropes, we saw and heard nothing about Troopergate. Now that Palin proved that she is The One who is the Second Coming...of Reagan, we hear about Troopergate.
Tonight's biggest loser was Barack Obama. Joe Biden made him look like a sniveling idiot. Biden did quite well, far better than Obama did in last week's debate. It became quite obvious that the wrong person is on the top of the Democratic ticket. AJ Strata agrees.
The other big loser was the MSM. If you listened to the Luntz focus group on FOX (I know, I've said nasty things about him when things were going against McCain) the people in the group were well aware about the way Katie Couric treated her and how ABC edited the Gibson interview. They were not amused. If Palin re-connects with the main street American, the MSM is toast.
Dick Morris is gushing about her over on H&C. He's saying the same thing I told my father. She's pulling out the Reagan thing. She has "IT"! Do I mind admitting I am in tears right now? It's a chick thing. The best part, is she made John McCain into a very serious conservative. Crusing the blogsphere, I've noticed that my theory about the conservative laggers coming onboard.
My only complaint is on that first question. I think she should have nailed Obama and his little Fannie Mae friends to the wall.
HOW YOU KNOW PALIN WON
From the Political Wire
"...Andrew Sullivan: "Biden's sobriety and authority and call for fundamental change is both reasonable and solid. It will resonate, I think. As you can read, I began this debate feeling that she was steam-rolling him. She was. But it was a steam-roller coming at you on fumes, not real fuel. She doesn't have it. Maybe one day she might. But not now. Biden's peroration was very, very strong. There is no contest here. There was only one loser: Gewn Ifill. She was intimidated, peripheral, neutered. The rules didn't help. But Ifill put in a dreadful performance."
Ben Smith: "My quick take is that Palin passed a pass-fail test, though she flagged as the debate went on. Though she was chosen for her emotion connection, she was the drier of the two candidates... Biden, meanwhile, was -- as he should have been, given his experience and skill at this -- a more effective presence, and a more lucid one. He effectively, and emotionally, used the forum to drive the Obama campaign's core message that McCain isn't the man for the economic moment."
Marc Ambinder: "On points, it was a wash. Partisans have reason to be satisfied; I honestly have no idea how undecided voters will react (although CBS's panel of them gave Biden an edge.)"
Mark Halperin: "No big moments, no news, little to spoof about Palin, no major Biden gaffes."
Ezra Klein: "Palin turned in a genuinely competent performance, and Biden turned in a superlative one. His performance tonight was the best I've seen from any candidate in this election, including the primaries. Just a superb job. I'm a bad barometer for middle America, but tonight seemed a clear win for him and his ticket."..."
