GAS PRICES ALSO FALL
This evening while watching (or rather listening to) Geraldo, Mike Huckabee stated that he has sources who are saying the "economic meltdown" we are experiencing is based on economic terrorism.  For days I have been saying something about this whole "crises" doesn't make sense.  I still don't think it does.

Let me preface this with the oft made comment that I know NOTHING about money, banks and investments.  Maybe if a financial dunce like your humble blogger can put 2 + 2 = 4 and not 2 + 2 = 4.5 then maybe other people can and have.  Let's start with an interesting little op ed in the WSJ about the banking system in Kansas.  I think one of the things it does is prove is that Kansas is still in Kansas and the political world is in Oz.  The very worst of it all is the fact that I have a feeling very few of us who are following the story know what is now true and what is not true.

There have been a few internet rumors that George Soros was planning an "October Surprise" that would help Barack Obama.  Is this what we are now experiencing?

Or - is it the oil? Anyone with half a brain knows that a family paying at least 25% more for gas, heating oil, etc. and is barely marginal is going to go under.  It's the oil prices stupid.  The higher the prices, the more enriched our enemies are.  Just look at the example of Iran.

IBD has a commentary about talking "ourselves" into a Depression.  We're not talking ourselves into one, Barack Obama and his friends in the MSM are doing it so Obama can take the White House.  It's that simple. The Audacity of Hypocrisy has a series about the role ACORN and the Dems played. Then there are our little friends Fannie & Freddie.

Where does all of this go?

There are two ways of looking at all of this.  Everyone who has anything invested in the market is in the same boat.  Misery loves company.  Like my father commented the other day when presented with a huge tax bill, he can always take a loss next year to make up for it.   Of Barack Obama is elected and changes the tax codes to appease his Marxist-Socialist handlers, then the money everyone has lost in the market is that much less for him to confiscate.

Or - maybe we're not really dealing with that "economic catastrophe" at all, but what Huckabee is considering - economic terrorism.  Then again, there is something else we need to consider:

Remember 1992?  Remember how the Dems tanked the economy and the MSM made it look so bad, yet it really wasn't?

Did you know there is a direct correlation between a downturn in retail spending and a Presidential election season where an entirely new POTUS is to be chosen?  In 1992 I did not believe it.  In January of 1993 I became a believer.  The few months before the 1992 election were the worst I experienced while I was in retail.  The moment the election was over people came out to shop.  Republicans were upset and were shopping.  Democrats were excited and shopping.

I soon learned that it is an old adage in retail.  When a new POTUS is to be elected, people do not spend money because of uncertainty. They loosen up the moment the election is over.  This year is no different.  The weekend after the election will be a good one for retail.

On Friday we filled the car with a tank of gas costing the year low price of $2.85!  Granted it was on the Santo Domingo Pueblo between ABQ and Santa Fe (I hate Santa Fe), but it was just $2.85!  If I were driving my Durango, that would be $25.00 less than my previous fill-up.  If I were to do that once a week - we're talking a monthly savings of $100!

Are you starting to get the picture.

I think the very real bottom line is that Donald Trump is right.  The moment gas prices start to fall to a decent rate, the economy is going to pick up.  Of course all of this will be after the election.  Then it won't matter.  By then, we might have Barack Obama as POTUS and he will begin to ration gas.  Then again he's planning to re-distribute wealth.  He's going to ration health care which automatically dooms people like my parents to a slow and miserable death instead of their vital and very active life they are now enjoying. Writers such as your humble blogger will be enjoying some much needed R&R at the local re-education gulag.

Then again - about those gas prices.  Funny how they started coming down when the market began tanking.  The economy has been in such a "crises" that came upon us so suddenly, that everyone forgot to talk about energy.  Now that gas prices are starting to fall, who cares about talking about "Drill Baby Drill".

I don't know about you, something stinks, and it isn't my filthy poodle!

Last weekend while traveling through a more conservative section of Colorado, I happened upon a Starbucks that is located near a credit union.  Someone from the credit union was sitting, drinking coffee, playing with his laptop, and talking to another man.  The conversation was about the man's loan for a new house.  Seems the guy has a 20% downpayment, excellent credit history, and a very good job.  According to his banker he would be able to sign the papers on Monday.  The guy asked about those Fannie/Freddie & adjustable rate loans.  The banker said the adjustable rate loans were almost created so that the person taking out that loan would lose.

Strange - and interesting.

What if - someone was pulling one huge scam?

The other day The One quoted FDR and the fear itself thing.  Funny, but everyone is running around like the end is near.  This fear is being spoon fed by the MSM.  Why?

While everyone is being afraid, terribly afraid, they are not thinking.  While they are not using their heads, Barack Obama is almost getting away with murder.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
