No Trick or Treat For Rumsfeld
by

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31
Rumsfeld was going to go Trick or Treating this afternoon, but had a wardrobe malfunction. This morning, after seeing Trig's elephant costume, he decided he would wear his old elephant costume and not the new skunk costume. Both proved to be too big for him. After he was dressed and the costume stapled together (but not to him), he ran around showing off, and the costume fell off! I gave up, so there are no cute Trick or Treat photos. The TGIF photo from Bat Masterson must suffice.Did you catch Greta's interview with Sarah Palin and ... more »

My Opinion of Sarah Palin Changed Today

I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULDI never thought opinion of Sarah Palin would change. This morning it did. When I saw her standing on that platform in Erie, PA my entire opinion of her changed. There she was, in jeans. Piper was quite glam in her snow queen costume, but then Piper excels in glam! The Dude was holding Trig who was wearing a cute elephant costume.

Mike Ditka on Freedom, Country, and Sarah Palin
by

on October 31, 2008 08:41PM (MDT)
ASK NOT Today while introducing Sarah Palin, Mike Ditka may have uttered one of the finest statements about country and what it means to be an American.
"...“I’m not here because I’m a Republican, which I am, and I’m not here because I’m a conservative, which I am. I’m here because I am an American. It’s time in this country you put party lines on the backburner and you put your country first.” Ditka said, “When I was growing up, it was back in 1963. Then John Kennedy became president-he made a statement: ‘ask not what your country can ... more »

Sarah Palin = Bible Spice?
by

on October 31, 2008 07:00AM (MDT)
PALIN DERANGEMENT SYNDROME Alec Baldwin was on Letterman last night. In many ways he was a bit complementary toward Sarah Palin, but did need to get in the obligatory swipe so he would not be crucified by his liberal brethren. I got the feeling that he was a bit taken with her, especially when he called her "Bible Spice"! Palin on the nasty things done to her.Don't worry, the NYTimes is still after her.I've begun to notice that things may be turning around when it comes to covering Palin. It's not much better, but I will take ... more »

POLLING SURVEY
The Pink Flamingo was contacted about a project, and would like our help. "..."A research team from the Psychology Department at New York University, headed by Professor Yaacov Trope and supported by the National Science Foundation, is investigating the cognitive causes of voting behavior, political preferences, and candidate evaluations throughout the course of the 2008 U.S. Presidential election. This stage of the study focuses on the information people use to inform evaluations during the last few weeks before the election. They seek respondents of all political leanings from all over the country (and from the rest of the ... more »

THE AUDACITY OF ARROGANCE! (or) JUST ANOTHER SLEEZY TV PREACHER?
This post is dedicated to AllahPundit. If it weren't for his Hot Air comment, I never would have realized what we are up against. Is it possible that the Real Barack Obama is just another money grubbing TV preacher. Are he and Michelle the Jim & Tammy of the Socialist-Marxist set? The implications are rather humorous. I am not wondering, instead of quaking in fear over what an ObamaAdministration might entail, maybe we should be counting the cash cows and requests for $$$$$$$$$$$! So the Chicago incarnations of Jim & ... more »

Phillies Win Bodes Well for McCain!
by

on October 30, 2008 09:49PM (MDT)
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30 There is something I'd not paid a bit of attention too until listening to Michael Medved this afternoon. The last time the Phillies won the World Series, a few days later Ronald Reagan was elected President! I am NOT a Phillies fan. In fact, they rank right down there at the bottom of my list with the Cards and Giants. But, if Medved says this, then I'll run with it. Yea, it's that time of the election cycle.
If you are a baseball fan, you need to catch the first few minutes of his show. He discribed ... more »

Sir Thomas Moore, Patron Saint of Statesmen, Politicians & Lawyers

MY ANCESTOR, THE SAINT!Here at the Pink Flaming we rarely steals another blogger's posting ideas, but this is one of those times. I'm basically "pilfering" The Opinionated Catholic's link to a column by George Weigel. I think I paid attention to it because I did not realize Sir Thomas Moore was the Patron Saint of Statesman, Politicians, & Lawyers. How appropriate and how ironic. Maybe that's where I get my pig-headedness to the point where I would end up doing what Moore did, and take a dive for my faith and what I believe.

Obama's Relatives - Treated Badly

ONLY ONE GRANDMOTHER COUNTS?
We are treated to a monsoon of coverage of Barack Obama devotedly rushing to his ailing grandmother's side - in Hawaii. Evidently there is a double standard in the Obama family. His other grandmother, the one in Kenya, is being banned from taking to the press before his election to godhood. I wonder why? Did he order this?"...But Mr Said Obama said the family would open up to the media on November 5, a day after the elections.

UPDATE: The Conservative Crack-Up - Part II
by

DEMS WISH!The other day I wrote about the alleged Conservative Crack-Up. After I published it, I made a few more interesting discoveries that have led me to conclude just the opposite is going on. Sure, there are any number of individuals speculating on how to 'rebuild' the conservative movement after the big loss next week, but I sure hope they don't know more than we do. Six months ago if you had told me far right conservative end of the GOP would come together with the moderate end (I'm not talking Powell or Weld) and work ... more »

How to Disenfranchise Honest Voters
by

I'M MAD
Today while voting I ran afoul of a vile Obama supporter. I came close to having a tantrum at the polling place. I think everyone there was furious with me because I kept asking questions. I discovered our local officials were not to blame for the stupidity and First Amendment problems thrust upon us by the corrupt New Mexico system. The voting corruption in this state gets worse and worse. The two problems I encountered today would be, back in SC, enough to make a heck of a lot of trouble. Here, though, it's just a way of ... more »

BURNING COALSOne of the benefits of my new study of Proverbs is the renewed discovery of wonderful sayings and some of the most sage advise ever given. I am reminded of one that is a particular favorite of my mother's. If your enemies are hungry, give them bread to eat; and if they are thirsty, give them water to drink; for you will heap coals of fire on their heads, and the Lord will reward you. Palin Derangement Syndrome

WHEN WILL IT STOP?The one journalist I've learned to respect this election cycle is Greta Van Susteren. She is fair. She's honest. She's also demanding the MSM stop the attacks against Sarah Palin. The actions of the MSM this year have been deplorable. They are ruining themselves. Many of us will shed no tears when as we watch the death rattle of once respectable institutions. We're told she is a drag to the GOP ticket.

Wednesday Hero was started to put a spotlight on the men and women of the United States military and the bravery their show day in and day out. But on a few occasions a service members of an allied nation has been profiled. Such is the case this week.
Despite being shot twice during an ambush in Afghanistan, an SAS (Special Air Service) soldier from Australia lashed himself to the front of his patrol vehicle so he wouldn't be left behind if he passed out from loss of blood and kept on fighting.

BLAMING ROMNEY
The past few days we have been treated to a barrage of depressing news. The GOP is falling apart. The blame game has begun. Conservatives are battling conservatives. Moderates need not apply. Romney aides sniping on Palin. Romney dislikes Palin. McCain and Palin are not getting along, et etc.
We're being led to believe Mitt Romney is ready to pull the rug out from under John McCain so he can run in 2012. Sarah Palin has gone 'rogue'. Romney aides in the McCain Campaign are doing anything they can to discredit Sarah Palin.

SOLACE IN PROVERBSI've never seen the kind of effect this election is having on people. Christians I know who are voting for McCain-Palin are terrified. Christians I know who will admit that they are going to vote for Obama are embarrassed. I've talked to more people today who are "terrified". One friend said she listened to about two minutes of FOX and burst into tears. I know a number of people who are limiting their FOX viewing. THE FINAL OBAMA ATTACKI've spent the past 2 days wondering what was going on here. Is there truly a "conservative" crack-up, or are we being led down the primrose path of Obamaitis. It dawned on me that we're being bombarded, once again by the Obama Psych Ops Game. If we can with-stand this attack, we can make it to the finish line. The problem is once again we're succumbing to their psychological and abusive BS to the point where the more fragile and elite conservatives are starting to crack under the pressure. THE FINAL ASSAULT HAS BEGUN
Rasmussen is now giving more "weight" to Democrats than Republicans in the latest polls. Evidently Rasmussen changes minute by minute to reflect the number of Democrats needed to reflect the fact that Obama is going to win, thereby further demoralizing the GOP. Is it all smoke and mirrors? Who is wrong? Is Rasmussen correct and we're wrong, or are we right and they're wrong. I'm so mixed up now, I don't even know. Lately I've begun relying on AJ Strata to keep up with the whole polling mess. He's even looking into "early" ... more »

COWARDS - ALL
Frankly, I don't understand what is up with the elite conservatives. I'm more inclined to think they are having a temper tantrum. I also do not think they want John McCain to win. If he does, he is their worst nightmare. He has no patience for them. Sarah Palin makes them look like but useless manipulators of empty regurgitated verbiage. 1925 - 2008My favorite writer died this afternoon. He is the reason I am living in New Mexico and the reason I write about the west. His work was so intoxicating that I made my first trip to New Mexico and the Four Corners area in 1983. I found a culture and a way of life so remarkable, I was not happy until I made the permanent move to New Mexico in 1998.
