WE NEED A REPUBLICAN RUSH LIMBAUGH

This is a misc. post because I'm trying to prove a point.  Conservatives are out of control and truly don't care about the Republican Party.  They are all about their pure agenda and not about winning.  I want to re-take the House, Senate and keep the White House.  There is no way we can do this today with the splintered, selfish, idealogical climate created by our leading conservative radio talk show multi-millionaires.

We need a GOP version of Rush Limbaugh who will be true and loyal to the Republican Party and not to an ideology that is increasingly becoming extreme in its theology and extremely manipulative in its approach to the political discourse in America.   His antics today, spending so much time bashing Huckabee, Giuliani and McCain is the last straw.  Somewhere this conservative demand for ideological purity must stop and reason must prevail. I told you Rush would be attacking him.  Too bad Rush Limbaugh isn’t even half the man John McCain is.  While McCain was serving his country, what was Limbaugh doing?  I don’t mind going after someone who isn’t a hero (and is a Dem – as long as the material is political and not personal), but to take out someone like McCain is disgusting.

Rush Limbaugh is a conservative. That’s fine.  But Republicans need to realize he simply cannot be trusted when it comes to party loyalty.  The same holds true for Hannity, Malkin, Ingraham, and just about every other conservative talk show multi-millionaire out there.

It’s time for Republicans to stand up and start fighting back against an onslaught of anti-Republican conservative dribble.

REAGAN’S NAME IN VEIN
Aren’t you tired of using Ronald Reagan’s name in vein? Doesn’t it get old?  Our world has changed.  Thanks to the Reagan-Bush (remember GWHB, the VP) the Cold War is dead and buried.  The fact that conservatives must constantly compare everyone to Reagan is a sign of a complete lack of creativity and stagnant thinking.

Unfortunately Ronald Reagan is no longer with us.  Move on! Get over it.  Deal with it.  Grow up.  The world has changed and so have we.  Reagan would tell you the same thing.

All of this brings me to my big question of the day:  What are all these McCain hating conservatives going to do if Fred Thompson were to endorse John McCain?

From NRO – Victor David Hanson
“…McCain in contrast kept his cool. He candidly admitted that the tragic loss of Bhutto was a setback to American democratic objectives, while reminding us that a nuclear Islamist Pakistan is unstable and doesn’t present America with any good choices. In this war, having a veteran fighter and savvy old statesman as commander-in-chief makes a lot of sense. I don’t know whether plain-speaking John McCain will win the presidency. But so far he’s proved the most experienced of the candidates, and he’s run the most principled and honest of the campaigns. Other candidates may be younger, better financed, and more charismatic; none has more earned America’s trust…”

THE ROMNEY ENDORSEMENTS
I think the one thing I find fascinating in all of this is the fact that conservatives are hanging I with the NRO’s endorsement of Mitt Romney.  This man is the Bill Clinton of the GOP, yet because he has Tancredo’s nativist’s endorsement, and appears to be the darling of the WTimes owner Sun Myung Moon all the little goose-step, Group Think conservatives are slobbering all over themselves to support him. Flap has information I’ve been repeating for months.  Romney has a problem with canards.  There are a group of the “usual suspect” “Christian” conservatives who are signing a petition against Romney.

FUN FUN FUN

Let’s have a little scenario:  McCain is staunchly anti-abortion.  He is human when it comes to immigration, acting like the Christian he claims to be.  Giuliani is so-so on abortion, but a little tougher on abortion.  So, we get down to the usual suspect “Christian” activist conservatives.  I find the addition of William Greene of Right March quite fascinating because he is a disciple of Richard Viguerie who is a shill for Sun Myung Moon.  The fact is, some of these people are out-right rebelling against the “Conservative Elites”.

So – now where do we go?  Do they become single issue voters and go with the anti-abortion candidate, sit this one out, or go vote for Ron Paul?   My feeling is they may swing Huckabee.
“…We write the following because we must oppose the deception of the American people by powerful and influential conservatives. Many in the conservative grassroots no longer trust the “conservative” media, lawyers and leaders, whom they see as serving the GOP establishment regardless of the will of the conservative base, regardless of the truth….”

This is going to be so darn much fun!  I think the greatest prevarication of them all is that Huckabee cannot win the general election.  He, like Rudy Giuliani and John McCain are the conservative's worst nightmare.

Steve Maloney is calling it a Conservative Death Wish.  I agree!

THE GREAT IOWA SCAM

The Anchoress  has come up with something I mentioned yesterday.   She mentions that Christopher Hitchens, in Slate, says Iowa is s scam.  Boy do I agree!
Hitchens wrote:
“…I was in Des Moines and Ames in the early fall, and I must say that, as small and landlocked and white and rural as Iowa is, I would be happy to give an opening bid in our electoral process to its warm and generous and serious people. But this is not what the caucus racket actually does. What it does is give the whip hand to the moneyed political professionals, to the full-time party hacks and manipulators, to the shady pollsters and the cynical media boosters, and to the supporters of fringe and crackpot candidates. It is impossible that the Republican Party could be saddled with a clown like Huckabee if there were a serious primary in Iowa, let alone if the process were kicked off in Chicago or Los Angeles or Atlanta. (Remember that not Iowa but its "caucuses" put Pat Robertson ahead of George H.W. Bush in the race for the GOP nomination in 1988.) The process might be a good way for Iowa to pick its party convention delegates, though I frankly doubt even that. It is an absolutely terrible way in which to select candidates for the presidency, and it makes the United States look and feel like a banana republic both at home and overseas….”

Iowa is a total scam.  So why are conservatives and other idiots dribbling all over themselves over Romney and his potential?  If he wins it is because he bought the entire election.

David Broder in today’s Opinion Journal Political Diary
“…"The outcome of Iowa's first-in-the-nation voting is skewed by two big factors. The turnout is ridiculously small, barely 20 percent of the eligible voters. And those who choose to caucus are hardly representative of the population as a whole.... [The] system empowers the activists and those with built-in organizational ties.... On the Republican side, those networks belong principally to conservative Christian groups, anti-abortion organizations, home-school advocates and some economic interests. On the Democratic side, organized labor and the teachers boast the best existing networks" -- Washington Post columnist David Broder”

ALL THE LITTLE NAZIS & FRIENDS

I usually don’t trackback to Little Green Footballs because I think they are way far behind the curve on this story.  They’re up on their Islamic stuff, but usually months behind on the neo-Nazi story, which they don’t even grasp, yet.  They do have a piece up today that one of CAIR’s top leaders is now backing Ron Paul.   This makes perfect sense to me.  LGF links to Central Ohioans Against Terror for this one.  In many ways I don’t think this is as big a deal as some might.  It’s more of an anti-Semitic statement than anything else.
“…I pray that the people of Stormfront and their followers will have better luck with their people than we did with ours. It's time for someone to stand up to the JDL and the ADL, and for their attempts to chill and deprive other Americans of rights be stopped….”

CONSERVATIVE INSANITY

Flap hits it, right on the mark today with his comment about Rush Limbaugh supporting Romney and Thompson, but goes above and beyond in his quest to destroy Huckabee, McCain and Giuliani.  Why?  The Opinionated Catholic has more on the Limbaugh attacks on Huckabee.  I wonder what Rush is afraid of?

A MINI RANT

The problem with Rush Limbaugh and his little bunch of Group Think out of touch conservatives is they are conservative first and Republican a distant second.  There is no loyalty for the GOP.  They would rather see us lose big time to the Dems than have a less than pure conservative as POTUS.  I have this feeling they would do anything they could to see us lose, degrade any candidate, just so THEY WIN.  Are they so afraid that their brand of conservative is that fragile?
From the Politico
“…In addition to Huckabee, he singled out John McCain for specific criticism, attacking the senator on immigration, campaign finance reform, interrogation and tax cuts.

"The idea that he’s a great conservative in this race is an affront to conservatives," Limbaugh said, accusing the media of "pushing McCain hard."

Limbaugh seemed to swipe at McCain, Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani, respectively, in responding to a caller about which candidate had true conservative bona fides.

"If our nominee is either not conservative and is pandering to the left trying to get some of their votes, or if our nominee is so afraid of his record that he’s relying on identity politics to get votes or if our nominee decides that the only way he can win is to go out and pick off some libs in the northeast and out in the west, it’s going to be a bloodbath," he predicted of the general election….”

I TOLD YOU SO
I’ve been telling you John McCain was Rush Limbaugh’s next target.

IMMIGRATION STUPIDITY
Immigration Watchdog has a piece that is a chilling reminder that this whole anti-immigration battle isn’t about immigration but it is all about racism and abject fear.  There is a certain mind-set that is fearful of the unknown.  It is also a reminder that people have been so brainwashed by extreme conservativism that they don’t understand what is truly going on in the world.  Immigration Watchdog blames the horrific crime of an Indian immigration setting fire to his lower caste daughter in law on multi-culturalism.  I hate to burst his nativist little bubble, but it has nothing to do with multi-culturalism and everything to do with a serious problem they are having in that part of the world.  Instead of harping on immigration, etc, they should be decrying the abuse of women in India. It is called Bride Burning and claims hundreds of innocent lives a year.

According to Hispanic Vistas Anti Humor has entered the mainstream of American discourse.  I don't think anyone but conservatives are to blame for this.  And, do you know what happens because of this?  The GOP loses - big time - we lose an entire generation of Hispanic voters.  But then, I swear conservatives have a GOP death wish.  They don't care about being a majority party or doing what is right, all they want is to be RIGHT, no matter how wrong they are.
"...While the immigration debate in Congress ended months ago, the immigrant jokes haven’t. This is not so much because the late night hosts are at the tail end of a political trend, but because they are, in fact, at the front end of a major cultural trend: the mainstreaming of anti-immigrant sentiment.

Immigrant rights activists have concentrated much energy on challenging rightwing radio as well as blatantly racist, formerly fringe video games like “Border Patrol” in which players shoot immigrants for points. But little attention is paid to the more mainstream fare: Top-selling video games in which white good guys kill immigrant bad guys and black and Latino zombies; popular television shows like NBC’s The Office, in which immigrant characters are ridiculed for their accents, nationality, and other traits; movies like the supernatural thriller Constantine or last year’s comic hit Nacho Libre, in which immigrant characters embody evil and stupidity.

The proliferation of anti-immigrant messages in pop culture moved UCLA linguist Otto Santa Ana to study what he calls an “explosion” of anti-immigrant representations in pop culture. “There’ve always been racist, anti-Latino stereotypes in the media, but things are getting quite bad now,” says Santa Ana, who started documenting anti-immigrant language and imagery he found in California newspapers in 1993, the year that launched the political battles around that state’s Proposition 187, which sought to deny education and social services to the undocumented and their children.

Since then, says Santa Ana, anti-immigrant themes have become more intense. In his efforts to document these trends, Santa Ana, author of Brown Tide Rising: Metaphors of Latinos in Contemporary American Public Discourse, and several of his students have gathered more than 100 YouTube clips that he says represent only a small portion of a growing number of “extraordinarily racist, anti-immigrant jokes and other content in sitcoms, film, standup comedy, and other mediums.” Santa Ana’s collection includes a wide spectrum of mainstream programming and movies. “Some of the clips will make you laugh,” he says. “But once you see the stream of those clips, you stop laughing. You see ten, twenty, thirty, forty, and then you recognize that they’re actually laughing at you.”..."

In California, the GOP is broke and can barely field a primary.  Why?  Simple.  Immigration and conservative mis-management.
"...The political drought that started with Hispanic voters abandoning the California Republican Party over the Republican-sponsored illegal Proposition 187 in 1994 that only three Republicans (Schwarzenneger, Bill Jones and Steve Poizner) have overcome since 1998 -- will continue. Ron Nehring, Grover Norquist and their gang have wrung the California Republican Party dry of every dollar and of every ounce of responsible support from major donor Good Government Republicans. The California GOP is limping into a political year stripped of money, power, attractiveness and, for all practical purposes, is politically impotent, perhaps fatally so..."

THE GREAT IMMIGRATION SCAM
Diggger is lamenting the fact that Fox doesn’t consider immigration a serious issue for the upcoming election.  Dear Digger, welcome to the real world.  Neither do a majority of Americans.  The only ones who have managed to get their undies in a wad are truly pathetic, single issue individuals who have become so abjectly blind to any reason, are people like Digger and his colleagues and the con-artist who manipulate them.   Much of the anti-immigration movement is promoted by people like Steve Sailer    who writes  in Vdare  about high school drop out rates.  Bottom line, the drop outs are Blacks and Hispanics.  Guess he doesn’t want them educated.  But then, you get down to the last lines of the article (if you can stomach it) and get to the bottom line – all those nasty immigrants are to blame. They lie about terror and Hispanics.

FALSE INFORMATION
FAIR has just released a report timed to ramp up the racism in Iowa over illegal immigration. Tamara Jacoby exposes the anti-immigration movement and their actual numbers.
“…Public opinion surveys on immigration are remarkably consistent, changing little even in the last year. An unvarying 20% to 25% of voters are bitterly anti-immigrant: determined to close the borders, send illegal workers home, cut back even legal immigration quotas. Although they are a minority, these xenophobes are loud and intense; they call in to talk radio, show up at town hall meetings, write to their members of Congress and dominate the debate. Another 15% to 20% are generally sympathetic to immigrants but neither vocal nor intense. And the majority -- the 60% in the middle -- is ambivalent and uncertain, undeniably anxious about the influx but also prepared to come to terms pragmatically with the 12 million illegal immigrants in the country….”

From the SPLC comes a swipe at Lou Dobbs and his fake stats.
“…Weakest Relationship With Reality Award
The Southern Poverty Law Center last year engaged in a sort of epic battle with Lou Dobbs, the CNN host who has probably done more to defame immigrants than any other public figure in contemporary America. The struggle was epitomized by a debate over Dobbs’ claim that the United States had experienced a surge of 7,000 new cases of leprosy in a recent three-year period, due at least in part to immigrants. In a seemingly endless series of debates, interviews and on his own show, Dobbs stuck to his guns, despite crystal-clear government statistics that pegged the number of new cases for the years in question at 398. The whole sorry affair was dramatized best in a comment Dobbs made to Lesley Stahl of CBS’ “60 Minutes,” which first pointed out Dobbs’ error in a profile of the broadcaster that aired last May. Said Dobbs: “If we reported it, it’s a fact.” Stahl asked how Dobbs could guarantee that. “Because I’m the managing editor, and that’s how we do business.” Ah, NOW we understand….”

DESTROYING ANYONE WHO DISAGREES

The whole anti-immigration movement is based on fear and loathing.  Those behind it loathe anyone who doesn’t look, speak, or act like them, and they are so vocal about it that they’re spreading fear among spineless politicians who are afraid to speak out against them.  This incident in Iowa, where folks from Hazleton, PA, one of the most xenophobic places in the US are trying to tell candidates in Iowa what to do.  Also joining the little racist group is William Gheen of ALIPAC who is turning into one of the worst anti-immigration bullies.
“…“We’re going to expose to Iowa voters that Mike Huckabee, who is currently leading in the Iowa polls, is … a fraud, and his record speaks volumes. He does not care about immigration reform, and basically, we need to go out there and get the word out,” Dan Smeriglio, president and founder of Voice of the People USA, said Wednesday at a press conference at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Freeland. Smeriglio will join William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, and Peter Gadiel, of 9/11 Families for a Secure America, to “warn Republican voters” in Iowa about Huckabee’s “touchback amnesty plan” in anticipation of the Jan. 3 Iowa caucus. Caucuses are meetings at which members of political parties gather to make policy decisions, elect leaders and select candidates. In a few states, they serve as an alternative to primary elections. Since 1972, the Iowa caucus has been the first major electoral event of the presidential nominating process and has served as an early indicator for which presidential candidate might win his or her party’s nomination at the party’s national convention. After setting up a command center Wednesday night, the leaders of the three anti-illegal immigration groups plan over the next four days to conduct media interviews, initiate a phone campaign to as many as 42,000 registered Republican Iowan voters and go door-to-door to spread their message about Huckabee, Smeriglio said. Gheen, of ALIPAC, said the activists will warn voters that Huckabee and fellow GOP presidential contenders Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain have “pro-amnesty” stances….”

Hate mail going to ministers who support Huckabee.

We all know how conservative multi-millionaire talk show pundits have treated my friend Lindsey Graham because he disagrees with them on their extreme, GOP killing version of Immigration reform. What has been done to him is absolutely deplorable. There is something extremely disturbing about a movement, agenda, or idea that must be moved forward by the abject destruction of someone who had a different idea.  That kind of thing does not happen in a free society of true conservative values.  Only totalitarian goose-stepping Group Think that borders on Marxist-Stalinist brutality behaves this way.  Conservatives who embrace the theology of Ronald Reagan ought to respect the kind, gentle decent man who would never seek to denigrate or destroy his political opponents.  Instead, he won them over by his humanity.  Ronald Reagan would never disparage or seek to destroy someone like Lindsey Graham.  Instead, he would embrace the things they both believed in, and go from there.

When a movement must embrace extreme hate, derision, and must seek to destroy those who disagree, then it needs to be re-examined.  This is the case with the anti-immigration nativists. Good, decent honorable men like John McCain and Lindsey Graham must be destroyed by people who are rubbing elbows with supporters of David Duke, the KKK, the CofCC, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists.  When conservatives who pander anti-abortion unite themselves with the forces of the most forceful supporter of abortion, then give lip-service to candidates who are not "pure" they are at their most disgusting. They are no longer 'conservatives' they have become minions of hate.

JOHN MCCAIN MUST BE DESTROYED

So sayeth Roy Beck of Numbers USA.  (from Polipundit)
“…After his leadership for amnesties knocked him out of his front-runner status last spring, Sen. McCain (R-Ariz.) has suddenly been making a come-back in the polls in Iowa and elsewhere for the Republican nomination. There is a real chance that he could come in third in Iowa where he basically hasn’t even tried to gain votes. If he does, you can be sure that the media will declare him the real winner of Iowa, It will be a huge boost to his efforts in the next primaries, especially New Hampshire where polls show him in first place! This is the nightmare that friends of border security, national sovereignty and the American worker thought had been erased months ago. I urge all of you who will be voting in Republican elections or who have Republican friends to talk to them about McCain’s plans for immigration. He and Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) have been the greatest champions of flooding our American occupations with foreign workers and of forcing massive congestion in our communities, roads, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure through out-of-control immigration levels. As far as protecting America from more immigration threats, nothing is more important Thursday night and next Tuesday than for McCain to have a poor showing. Please don’t sit this one out. McCain would be a continuation of the George Bush open-borders fiasco….”

THE GREAT SUPER-NATION SCAM
From Hatewatch – The Stupidest Conspiracy Theory
“…Stupidest Conspiracy Theory Award
You know it can’t be good when the John Birch Society, the rabidly anti-Communist group that called President Eisenhower a commie, teams up with Jerome Corsi, the man who orchestrated the Swift-boating of John Kerry. Corsi and the JBS are the prime promoters of a nativist conspiracy theory that claims Mexico, Canada and the United States are secretly planning a merger that would result in something called the “North American Union” (NAU). They insist that a 2005 tri-national agreement called the Security and Prosperity Partnership — a series of working groups to study cooperation in transportation, energy, aviation and the environment — is the leading edge of the conspiracy that may, in Corsi’s words, end in “an executive branch coup d’etat.” This would be merely an exercise in the ridiculous were it not for the fact that public figures from CNN anchor Lou Dobbs to U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) to nativist leader Jim Gilchrist keep plugging it. Thanks to them and their ilk, the houses of representatives of 18 states have now passed resolutions opposing the much-feared NAU — an entity that does not exist and has never been planned….”

IT’S THE RACISM STUPID
Immigration Prof Blog has a link to Rubin Navarrette’s column about Iowa,
Immigration and just how purely WHITE Iowa actually is
“…According to the 2000 Census, Iowa is about 94 percent white, 3 percent Hispanic, 2 percent black and 1 percent Asian.. “ Now I don’t want to come out and use that word everyone accuses me of using too often, but when you smell a dead rat, well, it’s a dead rat.  And this stinks! He also exposes Iowa’s ugly history of discrimination against immigrants – Germans.  “…As Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dale Maharidge points out in his insightful book, "Denison, Iowa," the first German immigrants arrived in Iowa shortly after it became a state in 1846. For several decades, they built "Germantowns," created German schools and churches, and founded German brotherhood associations. And, about this, no one seemed to mind much. But then the United States entered World War I in 1917. And an anti-German crusade began. It may have been cloaked in concerns over the war, but it quickly focused on the German language, German newspapers and German culture. In Denison, which is now a town of about 8,000 people, German Americans were beaten and piles of German books were set afire. English-only laws were passed. Critics will reject the comparison and point out the obvious: that many of the Latino immigrants now streaming into Iowa are coming illegally and that the Germans came legally. That's true. German immigrants who helped settle Iowa in the late 1800s did come legally. There was no way to come illegally until the 1920s. And yet it made little difference. They were still mistreated. That's because the issue was never legality. It was the same thing that fuels the discussion today: fear of change. It all makes for an ugly chapter in history that Iowans would be wise not to repeat….”

IN CLOSING
Rush Limbaugh likes to say that he won't quit until everyone but one person becomes a conservative like he is. In other words, we are going to be forced to listen to him for a very long time.  He and his minions like Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, and Laura Ingraham are killing the thing they love most.  Not only are they destroying the credibility of conservatives, they are forever dooming the GOP to be a minority party.  That's not smart.  If they keep it up, there will be so few Republicans in Congress, and  a Dem POTUS who will immediately sign the Fairness Doctrine and forever destroy their multi-million dollar talk show industry.  On the other hand, the cynic in me says that the only reason these people are doing this - dooming the GOP to minority status, is insuring their place at the top of the radio and television talk show food pyramid.  One would hate to think the only reason they are embracing such extreme ideas and individuals is for the money, but in a way that is much more comforting than the thought of people who allege to be "Christian" and decent rubbing elbows and sleeping with the likes of a David Duke, Bill White, Hal Turner, John Tanton, and Sun Myung Moon.  Let's hope and pray they are only in it for the money.
