CONSERVATIVE DUPLICITY

This evening when I was watching Brett Baier’s excellent interview with President Bush I suddenly understood what is going on between the lemming conservatives lead by their narcissistic demagogues in talk radio, punditry, and in the blogsphere and John McCain.  I think I also understand why they are now so dedicated to Mitt Romney and a campaign that will be a losing proposition for the GOP in November.  It is more than obvious the reason these individuals are promoting Mitt Romney and are determined to destroy John McCain is the same reason they have done their utmost to utterly destroy George W. Bush.

If a Republican president is successful, then their power, market-share, ratings and money are greatly reduced.  We are dealing with nothing less than the cold-blooded calculation to put the nation’s security at risk for personal gain and power.  There is no other logical explanation for their calloused, manipulative, and utterly duplicitous and abjectly calculated behavior.

This marvelous interview with President Bush left me in tears.  Here was a man not bowed by conservative or liberal criticism.  We are blessed with a President who knows his own soul, his center, and exactly who and what he is.  He is a man who cannot and will not be broken, now matter how treacherous those who claim to be his political allies are. Everyone expects liberals and Democrats to do their utmost to undermine a Republican presidency.  It’s the nature of the beast.

No matter how hard our demagogue conservatives have tried to destroy George W. Bush he is still the same Texas Cowboy.  The conservative agenda has failed to deter a man who has governed far more conservatively than Reagan ever did.

But – the vitriol, the treachery, and the abject cruelty that conservatives, those who claim to be part of his own party have exhibited is disgustingly immoral at best. After watching this very great man, one who will eventually go down as one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had, it is quite obvious his approval ratings have been adversely affected by conservatives who are never going to approve of anyone or anything but the sound of their own voices over the airwaves or the sight of their words in print.

They have become increasingly shrill and increasingly cruel in their attacks upon anyone who dares to oppose them.  How long it will last I do not know, but all I do know is I have reached the point where I can tolerate their actions no longer.

Somehow reason must be brought into play here.  Somehow these individuals must be made to see that their actions are endangering not only a GOP victory in the fall, but the very course our nation is following.  If their actions were not so treacherous and so dangerous, they would be almost humorous.  Alone, they are noting but a handful of annoying fleas on the tushie of the Great Elephant.  Together, they are an uncompromising swarm of vermin that must be controlled or we will all suffer what could be catastrophic consequences.

The most perfect, beautiful irony here is these narcissistic demagogue talk show hosts are leading us down a path of defeat that will eventually lead to their own demise. The very defeat they are helping to engineer this November will bring about a re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine.  Once this is in play, our overlords of the air-ways will not longer be able to ply their monologues of dissention and cruelty, but will be forced to either behave themselves or be removed from the airwaves. I do not endorse this draconian fate simply because of the individual freedom that will be lost.  Unfortunately we are dealing with individuals who are so completely out of control and so abjectly determined to have their own agenda forwarded that they are now beyond reason.

An agenda of hate and vitriol ultimately leads to destruction.  While it causes problems for those against whom it is aimed, it eventually destroys those who hate.  I can see no good end for these people – oh, wait, they will triumph.  They triumph because they destroy.  By destroying the GOP majority they triumph, they remain in control of their increasingly brain-washed cult of followers who have surrendered their ability to think for themselves and to reason through a complex series of problems.

In order to maintain control of their cult followers, they have created this mythology of Reagan.  It is a growing cult, one that has been carefully manipulated and cultivated has begun to explode into the conservative monolith of The Great Conservative God, Ronald Reagan.  Unfortunately the truth is something very different.  This is a “god” who gave us less than perfect “conservative” SCOTUS justices, yet he is cherished, his myth nurtured while George W. Bush is reviled for his less than perfect conservative record.  He must be reviled and criticized at every possible turn.  He must be taught that to venture toward a successful GOP Presidency is to possibly thwart the cult of Reagan.  A successful Republican Presidency simply must not be allowed.

Conservatives cannot allow anyone to question their increasingly ideological agenda of extremes.  They cannot allow what they now consider a more “moderate” or “liberal” agenda.  The bitter irony is the fact that what they would today consider “moderate” or even “liberal” would be considered “conservative” when Ronald Reagan was in office.  They have used, manipulated, and corrupted what once honorable and decent.  They have become amoral to the point where their actions are almost that of the mentally disturbed.  Afraid of confrontation, because of their tenuous hold on what is right, honorable, and sane, they lash out, destroying anyone who dares to disagree with them.

Consider the seriously disturbed ramblings of Peggy Noonan, a once gifted thinker, who now spends her days pondering the political demise of George W. Bush, who must have seriously scored her.  She has taken her hatred of this man to the point where it is becoming more and more obvious that her hold on reality is rapidly loosening.

Michelle Malkin has taken vile, vitriolic, cruel, mendacious, prevaricating, hate and slander to a new low.  She has evolved into a far right attack maven whose leash is held by her intellectual betters.  Unfortunately they are the very worst example of what humanity has to offer, re-acquainting us with scenarios that all moral people everywhere swore would “Never Again” be allowed to happen. Once crossed, she does not stop until the object of her ire is utterly and completely vanquished.

Hugh Hewitt, a once acceptable conservative thinker and writer has turned into a two-bit, manipulative canard spewing hack.  Before this election season is over his credibility will be compromised, hopefully forever.

Laura Ingraham, sporting an excellent FOX News make-over is a shrill, unbending, advocate of an extreme version of conservative values that allows no room for human frailty or vulnerability.

Ann Coulter is not worth mentioning aside from that fact that the conservative establishment has so fawned over her completely unacceptable and malicious remarks that now everyone in her little world thinks that it is acceptable to ape her atrocious behavior.

Sean Hannity is all over the place with his conservative ideology.  The only center he has is the fact that he really doesn’t consider himself Republican.

Mark Levin is rapacious, petty, and completely lacking logic as he completely defames John McCain while building up the false resume of Mitt Romney.

I think that is the real problem.  The conservatives we are dealing with, those who follow Rush Limbaugh and lack the courage to speak out against his increasingly irrational hatred of John McCain and Lindsey Graham.  Once against hard-line immigration, Limbaugh has done an about face, and has adopted Michelle Malkin’s increasingly cruel and vindictive  methods.  Anyone who disagrees with NumbersUSA and FAIR must be destroyed to the point of abject annihilation.  Only those who have pure conservative ideology must be allowed to survive.  Only those who worship at the altar of Reagan must live long and prosper.

Reagan must remain “The Great”.  No one who follows, no Republican, must be given quarter to come anywhere near Reagan’s greatness.  The ultimate irony is the fact that today, given a different name, Ronald Reagan would be less of a conservative than John McCain.  The additional irony is the fact that the anointed “successor” to Reagan, is the most liberal tax and spend, smooth talker of them all.

You don’t see those who oppose Romney attacking him personally, other than a line or two about his hair.  You don’t see attacks against Giuliani, or Huckabee or McCain.  The only ones who attack to utterly destroy are the hard line conservatives who supported Fred Thompson, are now supporting Mitt Romney, and the ones who believe an total and abject deportation of everyone who is not a loyal American citizen.

In Arizona these same individuals have proposed a marriage law that would require only American Citizens to be allowed to marry American Citizens – only American Citizens would be allowed to legally wed in Arizona.  This is a law straight out of Germany in the 1930’s.  Is this where conservative ideologues are heading?  If so, they can go down that once defeated road without me.

Never Again – will I call myself “A Conservative”.  I am utterly and absolutely disgusted by what conservatives have become.  The irony is the fact that I’ve not changed.  I still have my save views.  I was once quite “conservative”.  Now they derail me and call me “liberal”.  If I’ve not changed and they have, something is very, very wrong and it is not me.

I am angry.  I am furious.  If these people are not silenced or better yet, marginalized as the increasingly irrational crack-pot, almost evil carnival side-show freaks that they are becoming, we are going to lose the White House in November.  The man they have sought to destroy, George W. Bush, will go down in history as a great President, maybe not today, nor even ten years from now, but one day, he will be remembered.  These fleas on the elephant’s tush will be nothing but an asterisk.  History is a great thing.  Agendas are eventually exposed to the cruel light of day, as are lies, canards, and prevarications. The mendacity of today’s right will relegate the current crop of “conservative” leaders to the same has-been status of Paul Weyrich, Howard Phillips, and Richard Viguerie.   While they claim fealty to Reagan, words spoken decades ago prove otherwise.
