LA MORTE DE RUSH
The sky is falling
The sky is falling
Oh my goodness gracious
the sky is falling.
The sky is falling
The sky is falling
Oh my goodness gracious
the sky is falling.
One of my regular readers is a very knowledgeable aficionado of Michael Medved. While I have listened to Medved when I get a chance and very much like his point of view, I never though much about it until she started pointing out his writing. Wow! This is the reasonable conservative we need to be supporting. I think there is an intellectual honest that Rush seems to have forfeited ages ago. I like what Medved said today when he mentioned why he was endorsing John McCain. He is still going to be fair to the other candidates.
That’s the whole ticket – FAIR AND HONEST DEBATE. We should be dealing with reasonable adults who realize this is a very hard-fought primary season and it’s always winner take all. In the end we all gather around the campfire, hold hands, and sing Kumbaya, and start fighting the Dems. That’s the way it’s done. That’s the way it’s always done. There have been several GOP nominees I’ve not been excited about, but I still went out and worked for the Party.
I hope our cry-baby conservatives grow up and realize it’s about three Supreme Court Nominees this next time. Get it? Some how I am afraid they don’t.
I think the real problem here is we are dealing with people who talk and blog a good game but who have absolutely no political experience. They are gun-ho, all out, then don’t comprehend – maybe don’t know how the game is played. I truly think that’s what we’re dealing with. I have no idea what the political credentials of many of our conservative lemming bloggers are, but it is quite obvious they are nothing but neophytes who have no grasp of the primary process. The primary season is what separates the kiddies from the political grown-ups, and unfortunately the average lemming conservative blogger is nothing but a political child. Maybe they should just shut up for the next 10 months, write about other subjects, and let those of us who are grown-ups do the work.
You don’t threaten to sit out an election. Oh, you do if you are an immature ideologue who has no loyalty to the Republican Party and ultimately no loyalty in insuring we get the right kind of judges on the Supreme Court. I think there are some multi-millionaire conservative talk show hosts who may have their own agenda. Unfortunately I think it probably behooves Rush Limbaugh to refuse to support a Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, or John McCain. A win by either one of these men is a huge loss for Limbaugh and his theology of conservative pseudo-Reagan. I think as far as Limbaugh is concerned, it is much better for the GOP to loose, big time than it is for his version of what conservative is to lose to a more reasonable moderate conservative candidate. If someone like a McCain, Giuliani, or Huckabee were to be elected, it would prove that Limbaugh no longer had the influence he once had. By any one of these three men losing the general election, he is guaranteed at least 4 more years of being the number one talk show host. A win for either man, he loses.
I can’t imagine anyone being that cold-blooded and venial.
ACHILLES HEEL
Fortunately, because of the movie Troy, (and Brad Pitt’s gloriously unclad bottom) even our abjectly, culturally ignorant lemming conservative bloggers know who Achilles was. I don’t know if we can assume they know the mythological connotations of the term “Achilles Heel” but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now before I go any farther, there is one other allegorical connotation I wish to make, but because I a lady and my grandmother Froehlich never approved of a lady using this language, I just want you to keep the fact that I mentioned Brad Pitt’s bare you know what in mind. Now, fast forward about 3ooo years or so to Rush Limbaugh. What do they have in common? Well, Brad’s wasn’t bad and Rush is acting like a you know what.
Get your mind out of the gutter.
Seriously, John McCain is Rush Limbaugh’s Achilles Heel. I think we all have this subconscious, almost psychic aversion to the person, place, or thing that will be our undoing. The only logical explanation for the abjectly illogical hatred Rush Limbaugh has for John McCain is the fact that John McCain is what Rush Limbaugh fears the most. If John McCain is allowed to become the President of the United States then Rush Limbaugh’s version of conservative loses and Rush Limbaugh is rejected by the American People. Not only is will this loss be one of prestige, but it will be one of power and millions upon millions of additional dollars into what is already a massive bank account and ego.
JOHN MCCAIN MUST BE DESTROYED
It’s another illusion of the ancient world. In fact, for a brief trivia question: What is the connection of Troy, Aeneas, the phrase “Carthage Must Be Destroyed, and Rome have in common? (Sigh) I am now rewinding back to classic SNL and the Dan Akroyd line, “Jane, you ignorant slut.” Sorry
Getting back to John McCain must be destroyed or Rush Limbaugh loses, and we now have a Clash of the Titans (I can’t help it). John McCain represents “normal” conservative. I know this is a stretch, but consider the fact that today Rush Limbaugh has taken the ‘conservative’ movement so far from Reagan that I don’t know if Reagan would recognize it. The very worst part is the fact that George W. Bush is far more conservative than Ronald Reagan ever was, just look at the judges he has appointed, that would not have been confirmed if it weren’t for John McCain and his Gang of 14. The tragic truth of the matter is John McCain’s version of conservative is probably more like Ronald Reagan’s version of conservative than George W. Bush will ever be even on a good day. Unfortunately, George W. Bush is so detested by conservatives they will never admit this.
I honestly think the whole thing goes back to POWER. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and Rush Limbaugh has maintained absolute power for too many years. He will never admit that George W. Bush is very conservative. He will never, ever ever admit that John McCain is more closely akin to the spirit of Ronald Reagan, than he, Rush Limbaugh, will ever be. If he were to do so, he would be relinquishing his hold on power and more importantly – the money. A John McCain win would prove that the American People were rejecting the Rush Limbaugh version and going back to the original less conservative Ronald Reagan version.
Consequently John McCain must be destroyed. John McCain must not be allowed to win, no matter what it takes, no matter how absurd Rush Limbaugh becomes, now matter how pathetically desperate he is. John McCain must be prevented from infringing upon Rush Limbaugh’s power and money no matter what it does to the United States of America.
Ronald Reagan would not be amused. The saddest part of all of this is the fact that in order to destroy John McCain, Rush Limbaugh and his lemming followers are betraying the very cause they have embraced. They are betraying Ronald Reagan.
THE BIGGEST LOOSER
On Sunday evening Michael Medved wrote
“…The big loser in South Carolina was, in fact, talk radio: a medium that has unmistakably collapsed in terms of impact, influence and credibility because of its hysterical and one-dimensional involvement in the GOP nomination fight. For more than a month, the leading conservative talkers in the country have broadcast identical messages in an effort to demonize Mike Huckabee and John McCain. If you’ve tuned in at all to Rush, Sean, Savage, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, and two dozen others you’ve heard a consistent drum beat of hostility toward Mac and Huck. As always, led by Rush Limbaugh (who because of talent and seniority continues to dominate the medium) the talk radio herd has ridden in precisely the same direction, insisting that McCain and Huckabee deserve no support because they’re not “real conservatives.” A month ago, the angry right launched the slogan that Mike Huckabee is a “pro-life liberal.” More recently, after McCain’s energizing victory in New Hampshire, they trotted out the mantra that the Arizona Senator (with a life-time rating for his Congressional voting record of 83% from the American Conservative Union) is a “pro-war liberal.”…”
I was going to start this posting today with the much deserved implosion of the far right, and concentration on Rush, but then I made the vile mistake of reading yet another piece of (barnyard substance) from that paragon of conservative virtue Katherine Jean Lopez. I think this time our heroine has gone too far. In The Corner today, Katherine Jean Lopez laments the fact that we could have a woman Commander in Chief.
“…I don't want a female president either. She'd be whiny and annoying and the embodiment of identity politics (as I said, whiny and annoying) — if some of the pop culture examples are any indication. I'm surprised, frankly it is as high as it is. But people lie…”
I’m sorry, but this person had no business writing for a major political publication in the 21st Century! The next thing you know Katherine Jean Lopez will endorse the eliminate of women’s suffrage all together. It is quite obvious Katherine Jean Lopez is totally and completely incapable of being the President of the United States of America. Frankly, she doesn’t have the mentality for it. But, thank God, for Sarah Palen. Ever heard of her? Start paying attention to the name, Ms Lopez. She’s a leading VP candidate and will eventually be running for President herself – as a REPUBLICAN. P. S. She’s known as America’s Hottest Governor. Our Hinny Penny conservatives are running around, in a panic. Fred is out. Mitt is really not polling all that well. Unless they pull something quite nasty, John McCain could pull it off – the whole enchilada. Rush Limbaugh has become a bully. There’s no other way of putting it. Nothing having the intellectual honesty to endorse someone, he has played the gad-fly, buzzing in and out, doing what-ever possible to destroy both John McCain and Mike Huckabee, and doing great damage to himself in the process. The Washington Times is cracking at the seams with the departure of its most ardent nativists. And now it appears that our multi-million dollar conservative talk show hosts have reached a point where they are destroying not only themselves but the entire industry.
CONSERVATIVE BIG MAC ATTACK
AJ Strata has picked up on that excellent Medved column from Sunday evening. I disagree with Strata on his dislike of McCain, but he said something in the final sentence of his column with which I truly agree.
“…Anyway, the point is we don’t need more Michael Savage’s, we need more George Bush’s and Ronald Reagan’s….”
I like the fact that Strata is giving George W. Bush the credit he deserves. I am so tired of so-called conservatives constantly undermining the man that I could scream. Let’s face it, some of the problems the GOP is facing today is due to the fact that conservatives have done their best to undermine GWB at every opportunity. Consequently they are the ones who are wringing their heads and crying that the sky is falling. Malkin is another of those having a Conservative Big Mac Attack.
Let’s face facts here. Rush hurt himself with his base when he went after Mike Huckabee. Huckabee voters are Rush Limbaugh listeners. McCain supporters jumped ship years ago, after Rush started behaving so badly toward him.
OH THOSE POLLS
Before I go any farther, Malkin references that much heralded Rasumssen poll that has Romney up in Florida. That’s fine, but Survey USA has done a study on the various polls thus far in this cycle and Rasmussen isn’t the most accurate when it comes to polls. In fact, Rasmussen is ranked 15th with an average poll error of 7.7%. I can imagine how they are going to spin this new California poll that puts Romney within 4 points of Mac.
GET A GRIP
I finally realized why I am so annoyed with Rush. What he has done is almost a betrayal of trust. He lost me when he constantly denigrated Lindsey. You don’t do this to good Republicans. But then, today, we see from Allahpundit that perhaps Rush really isn’t that much of a good Republican, especially when he says he may not support a Republican candidate this November. Allahpundit references Say Anything blog that has the audio.
The Transcript:
“CALLER: Earlier you had mentioned that when the time comes, you’re going to announce or get behind somebody, and I’m just wondering, what’s your selection criteria for picking a candidate, and two, how do you decide when that time is that you’re going to announce? I’m more interested in how you pick a candidate. Because especially this year with—there’s really not a true conservative. How do you narrow it down?
RUSH: That’s an excellent point. I don’t have a time frame, just to address that first. I don’t have a time frame.
CALLER: All right.
RUSH: And I also, I can see possibly not supporting a Republican nominee.
CALLER: Hm-hm.
RUSH: And I never thought that I would say that in my life.”

Say Anything concludes with:
“…Good for Rush, though. It’s heartening to know that such a prominent conservative is willing to stand on principle and not act as a cheerleader for whoever the eventual GOP nominee is.”
What the you know what is going on here? Thank goodness for the Anchoress, who thinks they all need to be taken out to the woodshed!
“…Excuse me, but Ronald Reagan would have had no patience for the likes of you. Unless I am mistaken - and forgive me if I am, but I was a headline-believing Democrat when Reagan was in office, so I cannot quote the Book of Reagan as completely as some - did not Reagan advise an 11th Commandment: Thou shalt not criticize other Republicans?
I don’t know if I completely agree with that commandment, by the way, but he’s your idol, not mine. I can tell you that I do agree with another of Reagan’s dicta: that we ought not allow the perfect to be the enemy of the good. If Ronald Reagan were alive right now, watching the GOP split into these tantrum-throwing factions (whereby “perfection” is duly defined as “pro-life, pro-gun, pro-free-market, pro-worship, pro-Bush-doctrine, pro-tax-cut, pro-ship-back-all-illegals” and then, as each less-than-perfect candidate’s failure on one or more issues is noted, each are thus deemed unworthy of the support of the pristine and uncompromising “base”) I think he’d be disgusted with the lot of you….”

Raw Story basically makes Rush look like the fool that he is.
Outside the Beltway
The problem is the fact that cry-baby lemming conservatives who are not capable of thinking for themselves are taking what Rush has said to heart and are refusing to vote. Frankly, I have my doubts that they are indeed Republicans. They can’t be. No self-respecting Republican would ever do this.
At least Bull Dog Pundit looks like he is trying to figure out a way to vote for Mac. He references Hugh Hewitt (gag).
ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN
Unfortunately today’s conservative blogs are being lead by a group of “children” when it comes to the proper political behavior. They are so new to this game that they don’t know the rules. These are the primaries. They are a free-for-all. We’ve not had this sort of primary season since 1980. I know our Celeb Conservatives will look upon 1980 with a rosy glow about it, but it was a dirty, vicious campaign climaxed by an attempt by Jerry and Betty Ford to step in and attempt to pull the nomination out from under Reagan by declaring that when Ford was nominated as VP it would be a c0-opresidency. I was sitting in my parent’s library watching television that night, pouting because George H. W. Bush had lost the nomination and would not be VP. When Betty Ford started mouthing off, I remember Reagan was so mad he simply slammed out of his hotel suite, stomped down to the one occupied by GHWB and Barbara and pounded on the door, to ask him to be VP. It was wonderful – glorious, and one of the greatest political moments I’ve ever seen in my life.
My father was asleep in the other part of the house. My grandfather was in the guest-room which shared the same wall with the library. I started shouting the way I did the day the Reds finally won in 1975. I was shouting so loud I woke up my grandfather and my father. They both came out to see what all the ‘commotion’ was all about. By then the Fords were livid. I seem to remember it was either Reagan or Bush who was in their jimmies and bathrobe. We’re talking history here.
I was a Bush supporter from day one. I did not get mad and pout when Reagan won. I was disappointed, but did not swear off supporting Reagan. No one does that. It’s not the way the adult game of politics is played. Yesterday’s enemy is today’s kissing cousin. It’s politics. There’s no harm nor foul. It’s a game. You don’t burn your bridges by trashing the opponent to the point where you can’t go back. I’m the winner in this game – 1988, 2000, 2004.
I think we're dealing with a group of people who are fairly new to the political scene. While they may have come aboard during the Clinton years, it isn't enough experience. They don't know what it is like to have a hard-fought campaign. They are so new to the political scene that they don't understand stuff like this happens. This is politics. American history if full of bitter, hard-fought political campaigns. It is nothing to get worked up about, run around, scream and shout, and cry "The sky is falling".
The sky isn't falling. Sit back and enjoy the show. Get a grip.
Only an immature, spoiled, ill-informed idiot says they are not going to support your party’s nominee. Rush Limbaugh is betraying me. He is betraying you. He is betraying the GOP. Worst of all, he his betraying the memory and legacy of the man he claims to admire more than anyone else, Ronald Wilson Reagan.
