I  VOTE THE ELEPHANT

SIGN THE PLEDGE

1.  I promise not to defame any GOP candidate based on appearance, personality, religion, race, status, ideology, or the fact that I just plain old do not like that person.

2.  I will not engage in name calling.  I will not attack degrading nick-names to Republican candidates I do not like.

3.  I will monitor my candidate’s behavior and quickly call to task any irresponsible behavior, trash talk, and misleading promotional material that will harm other candidates.  When I discover such material, I will immediately either blog about it, or express my outrage to the proper campaign official.

4.  I will demand my candidate’s approach to other candidates ‘be like Caesar’s Wife, completely above reproach’.   If not, I will make the necessary calls, posts, etc. to call attention to said behavior.

5.  If candidates I oppose are doing like-wise, I will point out their short-comings and the inaccuracies of their materials.  But – I will do so in a polite, and responsible, adult manner.

6.  Further, I will not patronize any source be it radio, web, print, or television that consistently makes it a practice to personally defame and degrade any of our Republican candidates in any way.  I call for a substantive, fair, balanced, and logical exposition of policies, opinions, and voting records.

7.  I also demand these same sources and individuals either make it a practice to state upfront which candidate they are supporting, or call for an end of all vicious and personal attacks.  If a candidate is attacked by one of these individuals, they must state for the record that they are not supporting that person.

8.  I also demand any and all radio, television, blog, etc. who is involved in “opinion” and editorial and not the out-right reporting of news to make either one of the following pledges.
A.  I hereby pledge to support and vote for the Republican Nominee for President of the United States of America, no matter what my views are on how liberal, moderate, or conservative that person is.  I pledge to VOTE THE ELEPHANT unless the nominee shows such complete lack of character, etc. that they are repudiated through the party.

B.  I have no intention of supporting the Republican Nominee for President of the United States of America if that person does not match my ideological demands.  Further, I will outright admit that I am not a Republican.

9. I will also cease character defamation of ANY AND ALL Republican elected officials even if I do not agree with their policy.  I will state that I do not agree with their policy, but I absolutely refuse to engage in the destruction of elected Republican officials and nominees unless their character is so low and so reprehensible it does not meet the requirements of ‘normal’ civilized behavior.

10.  If I hear of any public broadcast that endeavors to destroy the chances of any candidate based on personal bias, antipathy, and animas, rather than actual fair and balanced facts that can be documented and are not misrepresented, I will contact either the television or radio station and file a complaint against that person.

11.  I will not participate in a campaign of hate or defamation.  I am first, last, and always a Republican.  If I am not a Republican but consider myself first to be liberal, moderate, or conservative, I will not sign this pledge and will not be considered a Republican who can be counted on to support Republican candidates.

12.  I also state that I am a Republican.  While I might have tendencies that are conservative, moderate, or liberal, my first alliance is to the Republican Party and not to any ideology or organization other than the GOP who might promote these ideologies, even if they are conservative.

13.  I absolutely refuse to tolerate any blog that consistently defames a Republican candidate simply because of ideology if the owner of the blog does not admit to being a Republican and pledge to support the GOP Nominee.  I refuse to link to, or comment on those blogs, no matter how popular or famous they are.

14.  If, as a blogger, I am ‘taking on a candidate’ it will be on specifically on the issues.  I will not indulge in character assassination or the abuse of someone I do not support who is a Republican.  I will state upfront that I do not support that candidate.  I reserve the right to gloat if something humorous might happen to them, such as a Jerry Ford golfing goof, but will not seek to destroy anyone with whom I disagree.

15.  Further, I will not seek to influence the outcome of a race in a state other than mine simply because I do not like the person running in that state.  I will not participate in the personal destruction of that individual.  I reserve the right to do anything ethical to support any candidate with whom I have a personal relationship such as friendship or family no matter where that candidate is located.

16.  If Republican candidates have ties to any “hate” group, I will not hesitate to expose them, no matter how much I might like that individual or approve of their ‘cause’.

17.  I will do my best to promote and circulate this pledge.  I recognize that things have reached a point in the GOP where certain factions and ideologies are demanding loyalty to the point where they are in danger of causing the GOP to lose this November.  I recognize that the purpose of all of this is to win elections.  The only way we can secure the Supreme Court and our future is to ensure that we elect another Republican POTUS.  The only way we can do this is to over-come our ideological differences and band together as Republicans.

18.  I also agree not to be swayed in my vote by outside interests, non-profits, ideologues, or anyone else pandering to an issue I might hold near and dear.  I recognize that Ronald Reagan once said that anyone who voted GOP 80% of the time was not his enemy.

19.  I also have the right to say that I don’t like a person, candidate, etc. and be completely irrational about it as long as I do not defame that person with nasty epitaphs, ugly cartoons, or encouraging ‘hate’ against that person.

DO THE GROUNDWORK
I also plan to participate in the Monday I Vote the Elephant Blog Carnival.  There are two requirements.  First, you must submit a post by 11:59PM MST on Monday evenings.  Second, the blog post you submit must be about a Republican candidate, be it national, state, or local.  Once you submit your carnival, please go to the Carnival Hub and comment to let us know you are part of the comment.  Then, like the Thursday Thirteen, just start visiting and commenting on I Vote the Elephant noted posts. Once the I Vote the Elephant Blog Carnival is established, we will be rotating host blogs.

NEXT
Make sure  you have registered your blog with the TTLB Ecosystem.  By working with the blog roll, carnival, and Mr. Linkeys, you will be helping your own blog rankings.

We're all in this together.  Only by pledging to work with one another, not destroying and defaming our candidates can we even hope to win in November. Also remember, when someone makes a comment on your blog, it is very nice if you can return the favor by commenting on theirs.  For more information on the U Comment I Follow, check the tag below.
