The Pink Flamingo :: What Went on in Vegas

I am fully aware that the Michigan Primary should suck all the air out of the room, but several other things are going on. First, out in Nevada, there was a Dem debate that Edwards basically won. Second, I must say something nice about Frank Luntz. I try to be intellectually honest, so I must state that even though he drives me crazy and I think he is a snake oil salesman, his findings in Las Vegas were fascinating. Unfortunately it is probably buried in the other events of the evening.

Don't ever think the racial divide that is hampering the Dems is simply black/white. It's not. If the Luntz panel is any indicator, and because of events in LA, I am terrified that it is. If you have been following the SPLC reports, there is a huge racial divide brewing between Blacks and Hispanics, far more than the problems between Blacks and Whites and Anglos and Hispanics (sorry, did that for the nativist reader who might not like it). There is a tremendous problem brewing in those two communities. I was hoping it was only gang related, but after listening to some of the Hispanics on FOX this evening, I'm afraid it isn't.

The topic was the Culinary Union, Obama, and casino precincts. There was an aura about the room that Obama's capture of the Culinary vote was automatic. Several Hispanic members of that Union spoke out against Obama, mentioning that they figure at least 35-45% of the members of the union were Hispanic and they were NOT voting for Obama, but were voting for Hillary.

You'd better pay attention to those numbers. When it finally gets around to some big number states like Florida, California, Texas, New York where there are large Latino populations, those numbers are going to kick in and could be a very huge advantage for Hillary. It will in the fall when we get into the fact that conservatives have cost the GOP a massive segment of the Latino vote.

The overtones in that Las Vegas room were seriously racial. What is going on between Hillary and Barry is nothing but a good old fashioned pissing contest. If they were both white males no one would even be noticing it. But - the Vegas thing had a nasty bite of racism. Everyone knows I am a strong advocate for the Hispanic culture, especially the one here in the traditional Southwest. What is going on in LA is nasty, ugly, and racist. It has apparently spilled over into Vegas. It is also sprouting up in places like New Jersey. Keep an eye on it.
