IS ROMNEY GUILTY?

It was disgusting.  Someone sent out a Christmas Card to voters in South Carolina condemning Mitt Romney’s LDS faith. It was a vicious hit – or was it.  Considering Romney’s past track record, I immediately suspected someone from his SC campaign was sending it out in order to garner false sympathy and crocodile tears, and maybe point the flying fickle finger of fate at that dastardly Christian, Mike Huckabee. Well, it seems I’m not alone in my theory.

The Koalin Kronicle also smells a Romney Rat.  To understand why, you need a scorecard and a history lesson.  South Carolina perfected the art of dirty politics.  It’s rather like the line in the Kevin Costner masterpiece (and my favorite movie) Wyatt Earp.  Wyatt is a teenager.  He has just seen his first gunfight.  That evening his father, Nicholas Porter Earp, tells him that the Earps always know when it’s time to stand up and fight for what is right.  That they never back down from a fight. You hit and you hit hard

Well, that’s how it is in South Carolina when it comes politics. You hit and you hit hard.  It is a given.  It is a way of life, and it is spectator sport.  Consequently, when it comes down to Mitt Romney and his personal version of dirty politics, he is tailor made for South Carolina.

Getting back to the Koalin Kronicles, which explains a few things to the gentle faint of heart who still doesn’t understand that politics are a contact sport.
“…Romney has relentlessly attacked Huckabee, and McCain in New Hampshire. The New York Times, Washington Post, and some other large print media have begun attacking Romney for negative campaigning. Could it be that Romney's South Carolina people have sent out a card attacking themselves and are now crying wolf as loud as they can? Of course we will know if this is true or not by tomorrow because every time we here at the KK expose one of Stumpy Sullivan's campaign tricks he calls and threatens a lawsuit.

Is this starting to ring a bell? It should because Stumpy Sullivan and his crew of bottom dwellers ran the Shane Massey for State Senate campaign here in Aiken County. They accused Bill Hixon of being a homosexual who cheated on his taxes, and then used the race card against Bill Clyburn and accused him of having "yard" children.

When people started to ask questions of Massey suddenly about 20 or so yard signs popped up that accused Massey of supporting Illegal Immigration. The signs went up early in the morning on Sunday before the election but were down almost as soon as they went up. Massey was already on the local media which of course took it hook-line-and sinker, and Yankee Shane the very next day had an automated call bothering voters. What did the call say? Hmm..."Well here we go with the negative attacks" just like the Mittster is saying now….”

FTS NEWS
“…Those six words - “we gutted McCain in three days” - could come back to haunt the presidential aspirations of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, however, who is also using Tompkins’ firm to manage his Palmetto political destiny - and increasingly the fate of his nomination.  Associates of Tompkins have already been busted this year anonymously attacking former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson, and with Romney currently fighting for his life against an out-of-nowhere Mike Huckabee campaign in South Carolina (and a resurgent McCain candidacy in New Hampshire), the forecast for more unauthorized monkey business is extremely probable. It’s one thing that everybody knows Romney’s consultants were behind the “gutting” of McCain eight years ago, but it’s something else entirely to have a direct admission from a participating functionary as part of the public record, albeit belatedly….”

From the Palmetto Scoop
“…By keeping Tompkins on his payroll for the final weeks of this state’s primary, especially after such a slam-dunk admission of guilt by someone directly involved, Romney is essentially saying that he’s fine with the unconscionable style of campaign filth peddled during the 2000 election. Worse than that, his failure to disassociate with Tompkins’ firm — which has already been busted for anonymously smearing rival Fred Thompson — could be a warning that we can expect similar or possibly worse attacks in the final days of the primary election….”

DIVERT ATTENTION

I wonder if Romney’s slamming of the way GWB  mis-managed the Iraq War is to divert attention from his antics?  EyeOn08 has an interesting take on a recent Romney hit ad against McCain.   Then the NY Times mentions the problems Romney has with certain demographics and the fact that he has spent something like $70 million to date.   Flap brings up the same subject.  How much has he spent?

A QUICK MINI RANT
I’ve not liked Mitt Romney since the day last August when they had the terror scares in the UK.  He was interviewed on FOX, and mentioned that we needed to give up some freedom for security.  He also made a few comments that convinced me that he knew less about the Constitution than my friend’s 8 year old daughter. I’ve never looked at him the same way.  It’s one thing to have a Dem running for POTUS who has no regard for the Constitution, but another for a GOP.  We have double standards, with more expected out of Republicans than Democrats.  This being said, if Romney doesn’t know the Constitution, will he spent his whole tenure in office checking with his lawyers?

Also – there is something distasteful about a candidate spending $70 million just to get to Iowa and New Hampshire.  a
