A VERY MINI RANT
Surprisingly the NYTimes has finally decided the Hsu scandal might be part of the news that is fit to print. I won’t admit to being up on the details of the Hsu scandal. It isn’t my baileywick, but it is fascinating. Stratasphere, Captain’s Quarters, MacsMind are doing quite a job keeping up with the tale.
I have three questions about Norman Hsu
1. Is he a two-bit opportunist who truly does have a gift for fund-raising?
2. Is he a con artist?
3. Is there something more nefarious at work here?
The thing that interests me is the fact that the ‘usual’ sources are covering it. Funny thing about ‘usual’ sources. If it is a story that will hurt Dems, the usual conservative sources cover it. If it is a story that will hurt the GOP, the usual liberal sources do the coverage. And, naturally, the usual “anti-Hillary” sources are hard at work. Take this article about Hsu having ties to missile traders.
Then we discover WND is the source. So, you gotta throw the baby out with the bathwater. WND is the most corrupt “conservative” source there is. I am trying to find a commentary by Dick Morris but obviously he’s out to lunch or something.
Let’s face it, we’re all watching the Hsu story to see what is going to happen, rather like a wreck at the Indy 500. Will Hillary go down? If she were Tom Delay, she would. What about the other Dems who took money from him?
What will it do to her campaign? (Probably nothing)
If it does, who will replace her? (Please, not Obama)
If she can’t swing the nomination, what is it going to do to the election cycle for the GOP?
Democrat culture of corruption? I think not.
Don’t you just love the smell of politics in the morning?
There are reports that Hsu freaked on that train trip to Denver. Evidently, if what Rick Moran is reporting at Right Wing Nuthouse is any indication, he has reason to ‘freak’.
MUST READ: Rick Moran at Right Wing Nuthouse is doing some fascinating digging into Hsu’s past.
From PoliPundit
“…The
big remaining question is where did the money come from? The two
obvious candidates are criminal enterprises and communist China. Who
would benefit more from a Clinton presidency? It’s a toss-up.”
MacsMind has been following the Hsu story in some detail He brings up a fascinating little tidbit.
“..One
thing is evident the story is growing and not soon to go away. One the
other intriguing developments is the supposed suicide attempt of Hsu
which I don’t buy for a minute. While it’s just a gut feeling “staged
suicide” is a common way of enforcing exit used by Chinese agents.
It would explain that - while not being published - there is extreme security surrounding Mr. Hsu until he can be brought back to California. I believe that one of the reasons that the feds dropped the interstate charges of flight against him was to position to place him in protective custody….”

Captain Ed seems to think there’s more of a pyramid scheme going.
