Food for thought:  Since 1856, no former US Senator who did not serve as VP has been elected POTUS.  Only two seated US Senators have been elected POTUS:  JFK in 1960 and Warren Harding in 1920.

Wizbang mentions a new ad that Richardson is running in Iowa.

I don’t know much about the baseball thing, I should, but I don’t.   So I checked it out and found this article in the ABQ Journal.

Michael Reagan on Thompson reminds me of something I thought about last night.

A MINI RANT
Thompson’s supporters are quite excited about Fred Thompson as the Second Reagan.  Would Ronald Reagan have announced on Johnny Carson?  I don’t think so.  He had far too much regard for the dignity of the office of POTUS and for the United States in general. 

No, Fred Thompson is no Ronald Reagan. 

Fact is, no one is Ronald Reagan. 

There was only one Ronald Reagan, may he rest in peace.  Problem is sometimes I think he is spinning in his grave as today’s conservatives corrupt his name and his legacy.  Ronald Reagan was not mean-spirited.  He was a man of Christian compassion, love and kindness.

Listening to Michael Reagan yesterday, it dawned on me, we’re dealing with many, many conservatives who actually know nothing about Ronald Reagan because they were either not yet born to were too young to understand Ronald Reagan.  Then – they want to ram their interpretation of “Reagan Conservative” down our throats.  Maybe it would be best if they just shut up for awhile until they read his diary.

The truly sad thing is these people need to move on.  Ronald Reagan has gone Home. We have a brave new world.  We need to honor his legacy by remembering him as he was – that man of love, kindness, compassion who radiated the love of Christ, not the hatred of bigotry and oppression today’s conservatives embrace.

I don’t think he would be very understanding of these people.

MIKE HUCKABEE
Wizbang thinks he is going to be a factor.   I don’t mind admitting I think he is in the VP run.  The one thing I like about Huckabee is he’s feisty, a little like R2-D2!  He’s challenging Thompson to a debate.  Add Ron Paul and we could sell a heck of a lot of tickets. The worst thing about Huckabee is the fact that HE DARED TO CORRECT RON PAUL!
