Home again, with the cat inventory once again incomplete.  Little Joe Cartwright has yet to put in an appearance.  Because this is not unusual for her, I am not as concerned as I was the last time I came home and could not find Bat Masterson.  Speaking of whom, he has grown!  I can’t believe how long his hair is getting.  Doc has nipped me once.  Mommy Cat is extremely aloof.  She and Rumsfeld are ignoring one another.

Little Joe just put in an appearance. Everyone is accounted for – this time!  No one is sick.  Everyone healthy.

The honeymoon is officially over. For the past fourteen days Rumsfeld has been carrying on a dalliance with a hot little long-haired miniature dachshund.  They met earlier this summer during his first stay at the poodle spa. The spa lady dropped him off this evening, so he was home when I arrived, around 8:30.  He appeared to be pleased to see me, then ran circles around the condo and basically ignored me until I sat down to make a phone call and he found puffs in my skirt pocket.  Other than that, forget it.  I think he is exhausted from his ‘vacation’.   I know I am.

I’m just hitting the high points today.  By now you may have noticed I now have a tendency to ignore most of the stories other ‘blogs’ are featuring. Why rehash the obvious and waste everyone’s time?

Tomorrow I will have more on my trip, photos of the Patriot Guard in Kansas; Ronald Reagan’s birthplace; and a few other surprises.

This morning when I turned on FOX I heard the news that Karl Rove is moving on (probably to work on another campaign).  Interviewed were Bob Beckell, one of the few intellectually honest Dems, and Tammy Bruce. http://www.tammybruce.com/  It made me wonder who was the Republican and just who was the Democrat.  Bruce was filled with cruel, irrational anti-Bush vitriol as she spewed one nasty remark after another at GWB.   She is obviously a Malkin-wannabe who copies everything Malkin does,  especially the sometimes nastiness.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Do the 25 Cubans who washed ashore in the Keys get to stay in the US?  This brings me to another question of racial profiling.  Why is it acceptable to profile illegal Hispanics  but not potential Islamic terrorists?

MUST READ:  Atlas Shrugs has an interesting piece today that defies explanation.

Harold Hutchison
on the importance of being Lieberman.

Voting Under the Influence has an excellent commentary about the agonizingly long election cycle and the damage it is doing to GWB.

CAL RIPKEN, JR.
A man who came by his records the old fashioned way – he earned them, without the aid of certain performance enhancing compounds – is going to be a special diplomatic envoy.
“…In his Hall of Fame induction speech, Ripken said, "Whether we like or not, we big leaguers are role models. The only question is, will it be positive or will it be negative? Should we put players up on pedestals and require that they take responsibility? No. But we should encourage them to use their influence positively to help build up and develop the young people who follow the game. Sports can play a big role in teaching values and principles. Just think. Teamwork, leadership, work ethic and trust are all part of the game, and they are also all factors in what we make of our lives. Games were and are important, but people and how we have impact on them are most important. We are the ambassadors for the future. Just as a baseball player wants to make his mark on the game and leave it a little better than he found it, we should all try to make this world a better place for the next generation."…”

Read Eye on 2008’s commentary about conservatives, Huckabee, & Mitt and what this will do to Fred Thompson.  The Hill   Will the arrogance of Romney be his undoing?  Let’s have some fun with widdle Tommy T. today.   Tancredo Watch has a scathing commentary on his “big place” in Iowa.
According to Politico, the Dems plan to go after Rove when he leaves.
