We had a long, hot, miserable day on the road today.  This aging hippie rammed into the rear driver’s side of the parents’ Caddy, then informed my poor father, who was sitting in the car at the time, that it was MY fault.  I parked crooked, even though I was within the parking lines. The man left the scene and refused to even discuss it.  The whole incident upset my father.  While eating a sandwich in a little antique shop and lunchroom, my mother mentioned it.  The owner had a fit, called the sheriff, and voila, the owner of the SUV is now on the lam for leaving the scene of an accident!

I has a ‘scavenger hunt’ of highway detours today on the way to Dodge City.  Finally arrived via a side trip to Ellsworth (where the whole Earp legend began – and yes, I think Wyatt Earp assisted in the surrender of Ben Thompson).  Best onion rings I’ve had in years – Montana Mike’s.  It’s a remodeled Golden Corral on Wyatt Earp Blvd. My father’s insulted pride was salved with a huge, and my mother said excellent rack of baby backs.  Of all the stops in all the towns on all the trip – this one may be the best!

It is so good to be back in the Wild West! I feel like I’m almost “home”.  I don’t know how anyone could ever want to any place but the West!

MY RANT IF THE DAY
I wish I could gloat, but this is such a horrific story, I really don’t feel like it.  On Saturday, August 4 four good, decent young people were gunned down in cold blood.  Terrance Aeriel, Deshawn Harvey, and Ofemi Hightower died instantly.  Natasha Aeriel was horrifically injured and is fighting for her life. NOT ONE OF THE BLOGS LISTED BELOW even mentioned the story.  That day I posted the fact that I had the terrible feeling no one would even bother with the story unless the murder was proved to be an illegal immigrant.  At the time I was being sarcastic.  I never though this would be the case.

I don’t quite understand. The crime in itself was horrible.  Like Geraldo said on Sunday evidently it did not merit mention in many places because it occurred in Newark and the victims were young African Americans.  If they had been White the story would be all over the news.  Or, as I mentioned, if those involved were illegal, then we would see the conservatives come out of the closet, throw on ashes, pull out their hair, and rent their clothes.  Unfortunately I have been proven corrected.

I hope the usual suspects are ashamed of themselves.  Just when I think the anti-immigration crowd can’t go any lower or be any sleazier they amaze me.  The fascinating part is the fact that very few, if any of the below mentioned conservative blogs even bother naming the names of the victims, let alone tell you anything about them.  Thanks to Crime Blog, we know something about the young people, all of whom http://crimeblog.us/?p=520 were good kids and had promising futures.  All that matters to the anti-immigration crowd is the fact that they were killed by an illegal.  This same, very bigoted bunch of yahoos (sorry, I’m ticked) isn’t even bothering to check out the racial end of things.  I bet they don’t even know Latino gangs are targeting African-Americans in LA and in parts of NJ.  

Back on Sunday I predicted Malkin would ignore the Newark murders of the three college students and Natasha Aeriel’s fight for life unless there was an illegal alien story.  BOY DID I CALL THAT ONE!

HotAir picked up the story AFTER the immigration angle was announced.  Opse, I forgot, that’s a Malkin site.

Not one of these blogs even bothered to cover the horrific story until after the illegal immigration angle was announced.  I don’t know about you, but I find this whole aspect of the story absolutely disgusting.  As well you know, I’ve constantly harped on the racial, bigoted end of the anti-Hispanic anti-immigration people.  But, I never dreamed their bigotry and their abject lack of interest in humanity extended this far.  Then again, maybe I’m not surprised. 

The shameful part of all of this - you guys did not give a rip about the victims of this attack, until you discovered the illegal alien connection.  The people who have ruined lives have been ignored.  We will see a few crocodile tears now, but that's all they are, fake tears.
