Don't forget my Blog Critics article about the Wyatt Earp Birthplace Museum
Have you heard the liberal hysteria become some moron on O’Reilly’s web forum made a comment about Hillary? Now there are allegations about Secret Service investigations, etc. You know I needed a good laugh. I was on the phone talking to my father when I read about it, reading aloud to my father, who had a good laugh. He needed one also. My mother has turned diet nazi and is, he fears, starving him to death on 28 Weight Watcher’s points a day.
IMMIGRATION
A MINI RANT
Lindsey introduces a new Border Security amendment to the Dept. of Homeland Security appropriations bill. If at first you don’t succeed (because you are surrounded by spineless idiots who cave at the sound of Tanton’s voice) try again, doing it piecemeal. Now, let’s see how snarky the conservatives get over this one.
I just love our adorable little conservatives sometimes. Today is one of those days. If anyone else had introduced the amendment they would be hailed a hero. Instead, our precious little anti-immigration anti-Lindsey Graham conservatives are being remarkably quite. Too quiet. I wonder why? This is absolutely wonderful! If nothing else displays the hypocrisy of the extreme right this does. I seem to remember ever one of our dear little ultra conservatives wringing their hands, weeping, wailing, gnashing teeth that they JUST want border security – THEN they will address the other aspects of immigration.
Well, here it is folks. Malkin is going to need to more than ignore it and slam Lindsey over at Hot Air. Naturally Hot Air would do a hit piece on Lindsey. For some strange reason Malkin doesn’t like Lindsey. Wonder why? The most fun is so many of the precious chosen few (conservatives) have co-sponsored the amendment. (Cornyn, Sessions, Kyl). So, where’s the conservative blog action? Anything on Drudge, Lucianne, Memorandum? I’m nearing 6:PM MT and still nothing.
NOTHING, ZIP, NADA, ZILCH, ZERO, GOOSE-EGG, STRIKE-OUT, ASOLUTELY NOTHING
(sigh) Yes, I’ve been having fun dealing with all of this abject hypocrisy. It makes me wonder if my theory about the whole anti-immigration movement and all this hyper-ventilating is NOTHING but a mask for abject total and complete RACISM.
From Fire Dog Lake – last fall.
“…Back in those good old times, in 1982, explaining the Klan’s anti-immigrant advocacy, Duke said, "Every new immigrant adds to our crime problems, our welfare rolls and unemployment of American citizens…. We are being invaded in the southwest as if a foreign army were coming over the border…. They’re going to take more and more hard-earned money from the productive middle class in the form of taxes and social programs." And Duke called for the deportation of all undocumented immigrants and harsh penalties for businesses that employ them. "I’d make the Mexican-American border almost like a Maginot line," he said, referring to the militarized barrier France constructed between itself, Italy and Germany after World War I.
At the time, Duke was widely dismissed as little more than a turbo-charged version of the paranoid style–"the Klan’s answer to Robert Redford," as reporter Patty Sims described him in 1978. But today his anti-immigration rhetoric sounds not so remote from one of top-rated CNN host Lou Dobbs’s fulminations during his daily "Broken Borders" segment. Duke’s Klan Border Watch, meanwhile, served as the forerunner and inspiration of the Dobbs-touted Minutemen groups that have proliferated from the Mexico border to Herndon, Virginia, the city that hosted the American Renaissance conference, where disgruntled locals hold regular protests outside a day-labor center. Under pressure from Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo, chair of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, and with sponsorship from House Judiciary Committee chair James Sensenbrenner (tough-talking heir to the Kotex fortune), the Republican-dominated House has approved a bill that makes it a felony to be in the United States illegally, mandates punishment for providing aid or shelter to undocumented immigrants and allocates millions for the construction of an iron wall between the United States and Mexico. Duke may have fallen short on the national stage, but his old notions have gained a new life through new political figures….”

What if it isn’t about border security but racism? Right now I am leaning toward the racism theory. This amendment is most of what our beloved conservatives have demanded. Evidently they really aren’t interested in border security and are only interested in the race angle.
Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
“Washington D.C. – This morning, Senate Republicans, led by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), introduced the “Border Security First Act of 2007” as an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill. In response to the continued effort to secure America’s borders, the Act provides $3 billion in emergency funding for the following:
· Operational control over 100% of the U.S.-Mexico land border
· 23,000 Border Patrol agents hired, trained, and reporting for duty
· 4 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles & 105 ground-based radar and camera towers
· 300 miles of vehicle barriers & 700 miles of border fencing
· A permanent end to the “catch-and-release” policy with 45,000 detention beds.
In addition, the Act contains additional border and interior enforcement provisions necessary for stemming the tide of illegal immigration, restricting immigration benefits to lawbreakers, and further protecting the homeland from terrorists and criminals. Among other things, the Act does the following:
· Increased Personnel: Requires a total of 14,500 new Customs & Border Patrol (CBP) agents through Fiscal Year 2012 – to approximately 30,000 CBP agents overall – as well as increased hires of new Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
· Sanctuary Cities: Prohibits cities from banning the obtaining of information on immigration status by their own law enforcement agencies.
· Operation Jump Start/National Guard: Provides additional funding for Operation Jump Start to maintain a National Guard presence along the Southern border.
· Criminal Aliens: Strengthens laws to deny immigration benefits to aggravated felons, gang members, terrorists, sex offenders, and child abusers. The bill also expands the Institutional Removal Program and gives DHS the ability to detain criminal aliens for an extended period of time before they can be removed.
· State and Local Law Enforcement: Gives state and local law enforcement new authorities to detain illegal aliens and transfer them into DHS custody. Moreover, it allows state and local law enforcement authorities to use homeland security grants for 287(g) training and provides funding to cover the costs of detaining and transporting criminal aliens.
· Visa Overstayers: Requires DHS to detain aliens who willfully overstay their period of authorized admission for more than 60 days.
· Illegal Reentry: Increases criminal penalties and sets mandatory minimum prison sentences for aliens who have been removed and illegally re-enter our country.
· Expedited Removal: Restricts the impact of outdated court injunctions that currently prevent DHS from certain illegal immigrants into expedited removal and returning them to their country of origin as soon as circumstances allow.
· US-VISIT and Entry Inspection: Clarifies DHS’s authority to collect biometric entry and exit data at U.S. ports of entry, as well as requires the Department to provide Congress a timeline for implementing US-VISIT at all land border points of entry.
· Employment Eligibility Verification: Requires DHS to enhance the Basic Pilot Program to help facilitate broader use by employers as well as improved accuracy and efficiency.
· Liability Protection for Reporting Suspicious Threats: Grants civil liability protection to those who report possible threats to our nation’s transportation system.”

This fascinates me. The WTimes does a hit piece saying there will no bill. Ralph Emanuel says the Dems are going to shelve the whole thing until the second term of a Dem president. Interesting isn’t it?
The Palmetto Pundit has more. This is going to be fun because the little anti-immigration conservatives who despise Lindsey are going to be forced to deal with this one because a few of their favorite conservatives are co-sponsors. Let’s just sit back and see what happens.
“An amendment offered by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) Wednesday to the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill aims to increase border security efforts by $3 billion, a Senate office press release claimed. The amendment, which is co-sponsored by nine Republican Senators including Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) - both of whom were outspoken opponents of the previous comprehensive immigration reform package - includes additional funding and policy changes affecting border security and interior enforcement efforts….”
SC Hotline Press has the piece.
Humorously ThinkRight AZ has the headline as “Kyle Introduces Amendment”
Ward Churchill bites the dust.
Outside the Beltway
MY RANT OF THE DAY
As someone who has a tendency to dabble in the history of the Wild West, I am interested in two people, Wyatt Earp, whose character was nearly destroyed by the ultra liberal Frank Waters. My other interest is Kit Carson. People like Ward Churchill have done their best to destroy his reputation. One of the stories I dislike the most is the whole smallpox smear.
As a student of Kit Carson one of my biggest fights and one of the things that constantly angers me is this ongoing notion that Kit Carson and the US military is responsible for the small pox epidemics. I have presented information below that completely disproves Churchill’s LIES on the subject.
Political Correctness has made writing in this field difficult enough without the likes of a Ward Churchill or a Frank Waters making things worse with their outright lies. If you want to know more about Waters, check out my book TRAVESTY.
This is what actually happened. In October, 1854 NM Acting Governor David Meriweather A DEMOCRAT, met with the leaders of the Ute nation, presenting them with blanket coats. The coats were infected with smallpox. Every one of the men presented with the blankets died. pgs 169-179, Kit Carson and the Indians by Tom Dunlay, University of Nebraska Press, Lincoln, 2000.
Then, from Carson’s autobiography… pages 67, 69
“…Near our encampment was the Crow Indian Village. They were friendly and we remained together during the winter. They informed us of the reason of us not being harassed by the Blackfeet during our hunt. It was that the small-pox was among them and they had gone north of the Missouri…”
Footnote 84 reads
“The great smallpox epidemic began among the Blackfeet in the spring of 1837; the infection was brought up the Missouri River by an American Fur Company steamboat; it wiped out the Mandans as a tribe and killed off about two-thirds of the Blackfeet before its course was run….” P. 68 Dear Old Kit, The Historical Kit Carson by Harvey Lewis Carter, University of Oklahoma Press, Norman, 1968.
The big problem is liberals like Churchill aren’t the only ones pushing and promoting hate. Lately Conservatives have been doing a good job. Glenn Greenwald slams Malkin today.
The usual conservative suspects are now after Bush about Iraq. I knew it was coming. Maybe I even told you so! Richard Viguerie is up to his eyeballs in this one.
Have you heard the latest anti-fat nazi speak? Now it’s contagious. Evidently people like me who aren’t exactly thin are now the most dangerous thing to society since Typhoid Mary. I guess they will want to put us all in concentration camps so we can’t infect others.
WPost
“…If the new research is correct, it may mean that something in the environment seeded what many call an obesity epidemic, leading a few people to gain weight. Then social networks let the obesity spread rapidly.
It also may mean that the way to avoid becoming fat is to avoid having fat friends.
That is not the message they meant to convey, say the study investigators, Dr. Christakis and his colleague, James Fowler, an associate professor of political science at the University of California in San Diego.
You don’t want to lose a friend who becomes obese, Dr. Christakis said. Friends are good for your overall health, he explains. So why not make friends with a thin person, he suggests, and let the thin person’s behavior influence you and your obese friend?
That answer does not satisfy obesity researchers like Kelly Brownell, director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University.
“I think there’s a great risk here in blaming obese people even more for things that are caused by a terrible environment,” Dr. Brownell said.
On average, the investigators said, their rough calculations show that a person who became obese gained 17 pounds, and the newly obese person’s friend gained 5. But some gained less or did not gain weight at all, while others gained much more.
Those extra pounds were added onto the natural increases in weight that occur when people get older. What usually happened was that peoples’ weights got high enough to push them over the boundary, a body mass index of 30, that divides overweight and obese. (For example, a six-foot-tall man who went from 220 pounds to 225 would go from being overweight to obese.)
While other researchers were surprised by the findings, Dr. Christakis said the big surprise for him was that he could do the study at all. He got the idea from talk of an obesity epidemic….”

So why did my best friend Kay never gain weight over 20 years of friendship – even when she was pregnant? Please explain that one?
Strange but if there are problems in the McCain campaign it’s all about McCain and how bad things are, implying he can’t control his people. When there are problems in the Fred Thompson campaign, well – he’s just adjusting his campaign staff.
Our favorite Liberal site continues to hammer Tancredo over the Tanton issue. Our second favorite liberal site, the Tancredo Watch also hits him. I think this is fun.
