I have a new survey method I am testing.  This one may be a little fun.  I do appreciate your assistance with the surveys.  It helps me decide what format I need to use.

Rumsfeld and Mommy Cat are continuing their honeymoon.  (Just don’t ask!)  Fortunately we are going to be spared the gift of puttins or kippys which ever the case may be.  But then if we did have either puttins or kippys Rums and Mommy Cat would be worth a small fortune after the tabloids got hold of their adorable little story.

Tomorrow I am working on an all-day project.  With luck I will finish it.  


MY RANT OF THE DAY

Thinking about McCain, war chests, un-ending campaigns and money:  Is it reasonable to think that candidates can wring millions of dollars out of the American people.  When one thinks about the number of people running on both sides, fund raising, and quarterly reports, it looks like around a cool hundred million must be raised each quarter to keep these behemoth monsters running.  If one also considers the nature of Democrat – Republican, there is no way ‘real’ Republicans are going to be able to keep up with Dems on fundraising.  Why on earth would a reasonable person throw money into a preliminary campaign?  I don’t mind admitting I donated a hundred bucks to Rudy, but that’s it.  I will probably toss in another hundred for the general election, but that’s it.  I have a sneaky feeling most Americans are like this.

I am one of these strange people who still thinks a campaign could and should be run on a shoe-string budget unless one is the party nominee for POTUS, then go all out.  But, if you are running for a primary or a state office, to me there is something abjectly distasteful about raising a twenty million each quarter, and spending twenty million.  I am looking for a candidate who is going to save money.  When someone needs to spend twenty million a quarter for a primary, he or she has already lost my vote.

MY SECOND RANT OF THE DAY
There are a few of the usual suspects who are using the most recent horrific murder of a child by an ‘illegal’ alien as just another way to promote their version of immigration.  There are two problems here.  First, the man, a Thai immigrant, was here legally until he was convicted of molesting a family member.  Evidently he was due to be deported but never was.  Ergo, in their sometimes primitive way of thinking,  we are dealing with what Malkin calls, “The bloody consequences of open borders…”, never mind the fact that Zina Linnik herself was an immigrant.  One is led to ask, would the frail looking 12 year old still be alive if she were still living in the Ukraine? Or, would she still be alive if her murderer were never allowed to immigrate?

This is a total cheep shot.  It is also quite short-sighted.  The murderer, who has been here for about 30 years, was a pedophile.  If he had been returned to Thailand, he would have eventually murdered a child there.  It the life of an “American” child more important than a child in another country?  Evidently, our anti-immigration hard-liners think it is.  

I really don’t know how you can turn this into an immigration issue.  The man was a pedophile. He is the perfect example of how pedophiles CAN NOT be treated and should be incarcerated for the remainder of their lives – no matter where they live.  The worst part, is if the man had been deported to Thailand, a nation where sexual deviancy is a way of life, who knows how many innocent little girls would have died.  But to our anti-immigration people, children in other nations are not as worthy of protection as those who are here LEGALLY.

Sorry, but this is an issue about the leniency of our laws when it comes to treating pedophiles.  

IT IS A PEDOPHILE ISSUE NOT AN IMMIGRATION ISSUE.  I am constantly amazed at the way anti-immigration hard-liners use every excuse to flaunt their agenda.  This should be a child protection issue.  The man was textbook.  Its too bad the anti-immigration crowd is going to make this an issue and are ignoring the fact that we have thousands of other pedophiles walking around, ticking-time bombs.

It’s time to protect our children.  Deporting a few million illegal aliens aren’t going to eliminate the problem. The only way we are going to eliminate the problem is to force anyone convicted of such crimes to spend the rest of their lives locked up. I just want to know why children in the US legally, are more important than the lives of children in Thailand?

Look, I know.  I was molested by someone who ‘served their debt to society’ and was out of prison, working as an elementary school principal.  I would have been a statistic like Zina if my mother had not forced her way into the man’s office and found me locked in a closet.  These people kill children.  It doesn’t matter if the children are legal, illegal, American, Mexican, or Klingon.  When they are dead they are dead.

When Mike Gallagher did ‘drive time’ in the SC upstate years ago, I would get so annoyed with him over certain subjects, then agree with him on others.  He’s one of the first conservative radio talk show hosts to call for conservatives to treat President Bush fairly and ‘get off his back’.  The one thing I have always liked about Gallagher is the fact that he does try to be fair, which is more you can say about most of our current conservative blow-hards.  Case in point is Peggy Noonan.  Her Opinion-Journal piece today is disgusting.
She is the perfect example of a conservative who needs to be put out to pasture with a sock in her mouth.
