MY RANT OF THE DAY
The Death of Conservative Civility
The death of civility. Harold Hutchison has an excellent post at Called As Seen
today which echoes my feelings exactly. Something needs to give.
Over the past week I have been targeted by someone. I usually receive about 50 tacky pieces of trackback spam a day. Since Friday, when my system was trashed, I have been subjected to anywhere from 250 -480 pornographic pieces of trackback spam a day. Yesterday I received nearly 500, enough to completely crash my Microsoft Outlook. I am tired of it. I am tired of the break down of civility and the targeting of bloggers who don’t’ see eye to eye with someone.
What kind of a mind and sick soul must a person have to spend hours tagging pornographic trackbacks onto a person’s blog?
I just love single-issue conservatives. I suppose Lindsey should be defeated because he supports our troops. Have you heard about this one?The problem is our good conservatives are so busy trying to bury Lindsey that they are ignoring a very good thing he is doing for our troops.
Funny how being a patriot is no longer important.
Nor is serving with honor in our military.
The only thing that matters is on which side of the Rio Grande one stands.
Quite frankly, I don’t know what has happened. My only explanation is one of my grandmother Froehlich’s favorite sayings: “IF YOU LAY DOWN WITH DOGS YOU ARE GOING TO END UP WITH FLEAS.”
If you don’t understand, I will try to explain it. First, we have serious immigration problems. No one is disputing that. We have serious problems with border security – north and south, and along the coasts. We must come up with a way to identify about eight million people who are here illegally. None of this is disputed. What I do not understand is when did it become immoral, obscene, deplorable, pornographic, and just plain un-American not to compromise? When did conservatives became the party of Stone Mountain – with heads of granite?
I think the problems is they have made a deal with the devil. How on earth can good, decent, honorable people associate with the forces of bigotry and evil and legitimize it? We’ve reached the point where it’s more than fleas we’re dealing with. Today’s hard line, hard headed conservative is full of lice – lousy. They have dishonored themselves, this country, and the memory of Ronald Reagan.
When did it become vogue and good fun to harass and belittle an honorable Republican serving in the United States Senate? Where is the honor in this? Where is the honor in degrading a decent, Christian man who is doing what he believes is right? When did compromise become dishonorable? Just Google “Compromise American History” See what you find.
Have you ever heard of the Massachusetts Compromise? (no, not Teddy Kennedy)
"In Massachusetts, the Constitution ran into serious, organized opposition. Only after two leading Antifederalists, Adams and Hancock, negotiated a far-reaching compromise did the convention vote for ratification on February 6, 1788 (187-168). Antifederalists had demanded that the Constitution be amended before they would consider it or that amendments be a condition of ratification; Federalists had retorted that it had to be accepted or rejected as it was. Under the Massachusetts compromise, the delegates recommended amendments to be considered by the new Congress, should the Constitution go into effect. The Massachusetts compromise determined the fate of the Constitution, as it permitted delegates with doubts to vote for it in the hope that it would be amended."[7]

Over at Hot Air, they spin it to look like Lindsey is out of control. I think he is right. I suppose if he were criticizing the Dems over war spending or taxes it would be acceptable. Funny how people skew things. Frankly, Hot Air’s position makes me absolutely furious. I am so sick and tired of conservatives thinking they rule the world on everything. So what if someone disagrees with them. Are they so immature and so insecure that they must get their way 100% of the time?
So, there are no bigots against Hispanics? OPEN YOUR EYES! Yes this is the conservative lunatic fringe, but they are bigots and they are driving the anti-immigration movement.
Captain Ed gets snookered into the act. I’m sorry, I wish people would open their eyes.
So Hot Air brings up the fact that Lindsey mentions there are bigots who are against Hispanic immigration. Before Hot Air criticizes Lindsey, maybe Hot Air should do a little investigating and see just what is going on in South Carolina and who in SC is behind the anti-Hispanic immigration there.
This is from the ADL
Lindsey’s excellent speech. Watch the whole speech, then be the judge.
I hate to break this to you, but here are anti-Hispanic bigots out there in the world. Want some stories? I am documenting things that go on in New Mexico against hard working AMERICAN BORN AMERICAN CITIZENS of Hispanic ancestry. You want bigotry? I can tell you stories that would make you furious – if the people were African American and in Alabama or something. If you cannot see the gentle tide of unspoken bigotry in this country against Hispanics, then you are either blind or a bigot yourself. It’s that simple.
Now, would you like to know what else Lindsey was talking about? In Anderson County the GOP has been taken over by a man named Ron Wilson.
In 2002, Mr. Wilson was elected Commander in Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Wilson’s moves to fill the hierarchy of the SCV with radicals were so strong, that Walt Hilderman, III created a group called Save the SCV. On his website, Hilderman contends “Wilson and Lyons have quietly filled the high level leadership positions in the SCV with members of the League of the South, Council of Conservative Citizens and Free Mississippi.” Further, Hilderman goes on to contend, “…shall the SCV be a political organization for contemporary issues in modern American politics or shall the SCV be the consistent defender and representative of the Confederate soldier…”
The result to such criticism of Wilson's leadership was, according to the Black Mountain Times and the Southern Poverty Law Center, the removal by Wilson of hundreds of SCV members. It would appear Mr. Wilson plays political hardball.
Perhaps that is why Councilman Ron Wilson is among the 40 so called hate group leaders, and the ONLY ELECTED REPUBLICAN watched by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Perhaps that is why Mr. Wilson served on the board of Southern Legal Resource Center, led by radical Kirk Lyons. Perhaps that is why Wilson’s daughter worked there.
In the Spring of 2004, Ron Wilson was soundly defeated for the state senate seat now held by Kevin Bryant. Later that year, as a bone to the radicals that seem to have a good bit of sway in Anderson County politics, the Anderson and Oconee legislative delegation nominated Wilson to the State Board of Education by a vote of 4-3.
Wilson did have some education experience. He supposedly ran a business once that sold home school textbooks to parents. Supposedly, one of the text books quoted heavily from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a book, proven by historians to be a forgery, that contends that Jews are trying to take over the world…”
Appealing to the hysterical conservative base – yep, that’s Tancredo and Drudge.
“…Tancredo said he would spend more time traveling to Republican-held congressional districts around the country. There, he hopes to pressure GOP incumbents in their own backyards, threatening to work for their defeats unless they help block the immigration reform bill now pending in the Senate. "This is the whole ballgame here to a large extent," Tancredo said.
He said the Save America campaign is needed to halt a the immigration bill which would "destroy our great nation" and open the floodgates to even more illegal immigration.
Targeting fellow Republicans is nothing new for Tancredo. Team America, a political action committee he founded, aggressively targeted Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, in last year's GOP primary. Cannon eventually won re-election.
The committee also tried to influence races in California, Arizona and elsewhere. Cannon spokesman Fred Piccolo said Tancredo's efforts didn't work in 2006.
"If his poll numbers are any indication, then he's not catching fire with the Republican base on an issue that's front and center," Piccolo said….”
