What a long hot day!  I woke up around 5:30AM and could not go back to sleep.  I managed to get quite a bit accomplished before taking Rumsfeld to the poodle spa for the Fourth of July holidays.  I just hope he is happy.  I ran a few errands, then came home and crashed for three hours, completely putting myself back off schedule.  While working on a week’s worth of blogs, I am updating my IPOD.  I was doing a duplicate search- and accidentally deleted my entire purchased playlist.  Fortunately that is now restored.  Last night I broke down and downloaded the entire Leonard Bernstein Beethoven symphony collection.  I like Bernstein’s interpretations of  Beethoven.  With Beethoven, you need passion.  Bernstein definitely had that.  My problem is I like listening to my classical music extremely loud.  When I drive and listen I drive way too fast!

It looks like Mommy Cat, Little Joe Cartwright, and Bat (Brat) Masterson are starting to gain weight!  That is a very good sign.  Charlotte is going to be doing the cat-sitting thing while I am in Tombstone.  Don’t worry – she will be very well paid.  I am giving her a hot pink Prada bag I’ve used only once.  It is her birthday, Christmas, and any other holiday I can think of present for the next year.

I am going to be doing some hit and miss blogging especially through Sunday.  I have much of what I want to write and say already put together.  I’ll add rants as necessary.  

I am doing my ‘weekly’ update on the War on Terror, hitting the highlights.  I started working on this posting last week, so a few things are probably yesterday's news. I am not an expert on Islam or the War on Terror.  But, because of my dedication to the 910 Group, I try and do something on the subject several times a month.  One of these days I will get around to re-editing and expanding my timeline of Islamic Expansion.

The Great Conservative Disconnect
Tomorrow we will see that the latest polling has 70% - that is SEVENTY PERCENT – of the American People approve of the Immigration Bill after they know what it is all about.  If this is true, then and 77% of REPUBLICANS want this Bill to go through, then

"There’s not a piece of research I’ve seen that, if you explain each one of those pieces, you don’t get a majority saying they approve it." Several issues are at play, Goeas says….”

This is a damning number for CONSERVATIVES. They’ve lost it.  Even Rush Limbaugh cannot keep up ratings when you see that 77% of Republicans are for this bill.   CONSERVATIVES are completely out of control, as AJ Strata shows in his posting today.  I disagree about them being “GOP”

FOLLOW THE BOUNCING BALL:
If these numbers are true, you are going to start seeing movement toward the Immigration Bill manana (that's Spanish for those of you are are anti-Hispanic bigots).  This could be interesting, especially when a few of our conservative leaning Senators and Congresspersons realize they are being sold a false bill of goods by loud-mouth conservatives.

CONSERVATIVES  like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Michael Reagan, Michael Savage, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, etc. are now so out of touch with the mainstream of America that they are seriously hurting the Republican Party.  Fortunately, they are doing more damage to ‘the conservative movement’ than they are anything I could ever do.  In many ways I do want them to just shut up, and in others I want them to keep it up until they are so marginalized no one listens to their mindless rantings.

Nothing proves my point more than this FOX News piece about rural voters and a disconnect with the GOP. My mother is a voter.  She is rabid life-long Republican, and she lives in a very rural area.  She is so angry with CONSERVATIVES that she does not know if she can vote GOP this time.   My mother is so up set over the behavior of conservatives she is thinking about leaving the GOP.  My mother – the life long Republican, the one who started me in politics.  How many other life long REPUBLICANS are so up set – not because of immigration but because of the BEHAVIOR OF CONSERVATIES who have very little to do with the actual GOP?

If Moderation is good for Islam

ISLAMIC TOLERANCE

MUST READ: I may completely disagree with Malkin on immigration, but she is at her very best when dealing with the problems of Islam. Today a number of bloggers are highlighting the horrendous human rights offenses committed by Islam.  Malkin’s posting is rough, to say the least.
Sir Salman Rushdie has become one of the great symbols of Islamic tolerance throughout the world.  (note the sarcasm) This man’s courage has made him of the great writers of our age.  To me he is an example for us all and an example of what is good about Islam under siege by what is evil about Islam.
