What a long hot dusty day. I spent about 5 hours sitting in the Western Writers of America tent in a futile attempt to sell books. I did as well as everyone else – 2 books! On the other hand, man watching was great. Okay, I know it sounds juvenile, but several of us (women) did quite a bit of spectator watching. The general consensus is that men look so good dressed up for the Wild West! Then they go home and down athletic shoes, t-shirts, dirty jeans, and baseball caps and look like a bunch of dorks. Maybe someone needs to require men to go around dressed for a western. (sigh). I’m talking really good looking…!
Yesterday the trunk of the car was so hot the chocolate in my trail mix melted and fused everything together!
I've spent the day associating with people who don't blog and aren't interesting in anything political. Fortunately a few were interested in all things Wyatt Earp. I was stuck in this tent with an obnoxious loud-mouth writer who is promoting her novel about a historical figure, and basically doing anything she can to keep people away from other writers. When she referred to Wyatt as a sociopath I knew we were in for a rough day. It also shows the level of her actual 'research'. I put up with it for awhile, then ignored her. I don't like it when people 'fictionalize' history and try passing it off as fact. When she fobbed off Gary Roberts as not being that 'up' on Doc Holiday, when Gary is the leading expert in the field - well, what can you expect?
No feline news. Rumsfeld is having a good weekend with his grandparents, dining on chicken, turkey, asparagus, steak, fresh mushrooms, and home-made cheese cake. He’d better enjoy it. On Tuesday he goes to the poodle spa for 10 days. He does have a pool-side spa suite, but still, one must make the best of a bad situation.
I have no rant, rave, or comment. I’m too tired. While I am writing I am sitting here I am watching Polderguist. Have you ever wondered why these people in the movies who live in haunted and cursed houses keep living in them? Why not just pack up and leave?
94 year old Lady Bird Johnson hospitalized for tests.
Lindsey’s numbers are very low in this Opinion Advantage Poll. The problem is we are told that is “weighted” by party, but not which way. It also has a small number of respondents. My honest assessment is this is an ordered hit on both Lindsey and Trent Lott. As usual, you need to look beyond the surface. Matt Towery, who is the CEO of Insider Advantage has been associated with Gingrich, and is a staunch anti-immigration advocate. There is a built in bias with his polls. Yes, he has a poll that points to the fact that Americans would like to impeach GWB, but I am not going to subscribe to his service to read it. Fortunately he is promoting his poll in Human Events:
“…"Would you favor or oppose the impeachment by Congress of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney?"
Favor: 39%
Oppose:55 %
Undecided/Don't Know: 6%
The survey of 621 registered voters has been weighted for age, race, gender and political affiliation. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.
About four out of 10 Americans favor impeaching the president and vice president. But the biggest news from this survey is not the overall results, but the opinions of independent voters, who usually decide presidential elections….’

Then Towery has the following headline…Again it cannot be accessed without a subscription. The problem with this headline is it is very much not true and says a tremendous amount about the immigration issue if it is not manipulated by either advocates or foes.
“No National Implications In 10th District Election This Week, But Runoff May Be A Different Story; 6/21/07
July 17 voting could speak volumes about the religious right and next year's elections”
Flopping Aces – Edwards DOA
We all know the race is going to tighten, so what’s the deal about a Giuliani memo?
Edwards may need to do the Bloomberg thing an self-finance.
Flap says Thompson (Fred) will announce on Tuesday.
Is the Dem race almost over?
QUESTION: If you are in a major primary state and a trooper light flashes you, is it real or is a Romneyite?
Romney 911
At least Bloomberg is finally showing his true colors, and it isn’t GOP. He is way too liberal. He and John Edwards make a pair! Check out the American Thinker think piece about him.
Big Apple Rudy
The ego that is Ralph Nadar is threatening to run.
EyeOn2008 and the creepiness that is Romney.
Republicans for Obama?
When things go wrong for the Obama campaign – blame it on the hired help!
Hillary’s campaign song. BARF!
I’m sorry but I just don’t see the point of Thompson making a pilgrimage to meet Lady Thatcher.
Why is Nevada so important to Bill Richardson?
What are the implications of a Fred Thompson run? Is this a turning point in political races?
Peter Brown mentions something I’ve thought – are we looking at a Thompson-Giuliani or a Giuliani-Thompson ticket? It pulls both the North and South together.
Are conservative pundits turning on Thompson already yet?
You had better pay attention to Romney’s organization. He is going for momentum in early states – and he has the money to do it. If my source in SC is any indication, his people are not exactly playing fair and they are not above bullying until they get their way.
McCain is now taking on big donors.
Proving Dems know best, Edwards is taking on Petraeus. (sarcasm) I love the “Bush Administration’s disconnect from reality…” If anyone is disconnected from reality!
Race 42008 on McCain. Good read.
Captain Ed on why anyone who plans to run for POTUS one day needs to be careful when choosing their playmates.
Who are America’s Creepiest Candidates?
When Thompson highlights the threat with Iran he has gravitas. McCain makes a smart mouth remark and he is reviled for it. Okay, the press has indeed turned on McCain.
And - why is Thompson getting a pass for his role in Campaign Finance Reform and McCain isn't?
Flap on the tie between the virtual Rasmussen tie between Giuliani and Thompson.
Eye on 2008 – you gotta watch this You Tube on Romney. It is magnificent!
Politico on SC’s #’s. One thing everyone is ignoring is the fact that South Carolina has been Bush Country since 1980. George H. W. Bush beat out Reagan in the primary there. People in SC take their relationship with the Bushes seriously. I have a feeling there is some anti-McCain sentiment that hails back to the 2000 campaign.
