“…“I will sign an executive order, because I have a right to under the Patriot Act, to move any large sections of the population I want that I consider to be subversive or a problem and non-whites will have to leave. Any non-whites that want to stay, we will honor them and they can be on a reservation like the American Indians. Some might say that this is revolutionary and radical, well, we think one day the situation is going to get revolutionary and radical and we’re getting ready and getting everything set right now. This is our last chance for white people in this country to keep this country and not have a change geopoliticaly and also geo-racially. We don’t advocate violence. When we say the word ‘fight’ that doesn’t mean fistfight. Other groups fight, they get out there and become part of the political process, they get on the telephone and try to get people signed up. That’s fighting.”…”   John Taylor Bowles, Laurens, SOUTH CAROLINA, May 15, 2007

AUTOPSY REPORT:  The pathology report on Miss Piggy arrived today.  The preliminary finding points to pet food poisoning.  The new vet is going to study up on it tomorrow before he makes a definitive finding, but the liver and kidney tox levels point to it.  The poor little thing never had a chance.  Someone is going to pay for this, I think. Right now I’m not very happy.  No wonder she did so well while nursing, then started going downhill the moment she started eating Iams Kitten food. I thought I pulled it up in time, but she ate it for at least six weeks.  That would have been enough to kill her.  No one else is showing signs of a problem.  Redford was also eating the same food.  I wonder if that hastened his death.  I hope it isn’t the Meow Mix!

I have several current Blog Critics articles.  My review of Paul Potts was posted this morning.

MYMINI RANT FOR THE DAY
Yesterday I was furious when I read Mike’s posting on Flopping Aces flaunting the fact there is no racism or bigotry in anti-immigration.  Since Mike is from SC, and he is on Lindsey’s case about the La Raza speech dealing with ‘bigotry’ I thought I would pull a few select links – just from South Carolina in 2007 – dealing with racism and bigotry and immigration.  Anyone who thinks bigotry and racism does not exist within this context in South Carolina is either one of them or a fool. I truly hope it is the latter.

Once again I repeat it isn’t about immigration.  It isn’t about security.  Those are TWO VERY DIFFERENT issues.  This is about bigotry and racism.  Quite frankly I’ve reached the point where I don’t care who is angry with me or who I insult over this issue.  I don’t understand why people can’t open their eyes and see what is motivating a national conversation – pure racist hate.

On the other hand, evidently P. T. Barnum was wrong – you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.  Right March Minuteman William Greene went down to a stunning defeat yesterday in GA’s 10th District Congressional race.  He pulled out all the stops and brought in all the big anti-immigration guns into one of the most hard-line anti-immigration Congressional districts in the nation.  He pulled THREE PERCENT – COUNT IT THREE PERCENT of the vote.  No wonder our Senators are not returning calls or answering mail from anti-immigration groups.  It is a non issue.  There is no vote out there.  The constituency is almost non-existent.

Yep, Trent Lott is right.  He is looking at it from someone who was actively involved in the CofCC until he discovered what they were.  He knows ‘the enemy’.  If Lott, who knows “these people” well, says certain conservative talk radio pundits are stirring up trouble, then he is right.

How many people are turning off Rush?  My father was talking to a friend from Texas who said he doesn’t care if he ever listens to Rush Limbaugh again. He’s tired of it.

INJUSTICE
AJ Strata on the deportation of  the wife of one of our heroes who is missing in Iraq.  Naturally the hard-liners want her outta her now.  This is the wife of one of those guys who was captured back in May.   The Florida Masochist has an update on the situation.  Looks like a judge has ruled a stay due to a law our anti-immigration people are overlooking.

MUST READ:  The Christian Science Monitor has a fascinating take on solving the problem of illegal immigration out of Mexico.   If nothing else highlights the rank hypocrisy of today’s big government conservative this does.  I thought conservatives wanted self-determination and local governments to prevail.  If people living in a region do not want this boondoggle of a project that is destined to be one of the worst ideas ever – they should be allowed to have a say – and vote on it.

THE BORDER FENCE

The unintended consequences of a border fence are abject disaster.  People are so embroiled in the immigration debate that they fail to even think logically.  I’ll go for a virtual one, but that is it – in most places.  I read a liberal snark I find rather humorous.  When are anti-immigration forces going to demand that the border region be treated like the no-man’s land between North and South Korea, plowed up with land mines.  That would basically stop illegal crossings.

SC POLITICS
Before we get to the big news, it should be noted that there is a possibility that the Mason-Dixon poll putting Fred Thompson ahead of Giuliani may be bogus.  Evidently Mason-Dixon, once a trusted pollster, has been known to issue bogus results for the fun of it.  The Cook Poll, issued on the 18th has far different results, with both Giuliani and Hillary ahead.    I don’t know about you but I see some behind the scene machinations.

Thumbs-up to Harold Hutchison posting at Mac’s Mind for the following:  Lindsey’s main “primary” challenge, Thomas Ravenel, according to the Anderson Independent, has been indicted on a cocaine charge. I very actively supported his father in his 1994 run against David Beasley for governor.  I do not think this is an indictment against the Giuliani campaign in SC, considering they have already asked Ravenel to step down as state chair.

This all reminds me of something.  Wizbang Political laments, that David Beasley is the only one now who could raise enough money to take on Lindsey.  Back in 1994 when Beasley was running against Ravenel’s father, Beasley was the precious darling of the Christian Coalition which was very strong in Anderson County.  They were very much against Lindsey and ran their own candidate against him in a hard-fought primary.  The Christian Coalition has never really liked Lindsey in SC and in Anderson County, specifically, the proponents of the Viguerie organization have resorted to extreme tactics over the years in a campaign to unseat him.  Considering much of the extreme conservative opposition to Lindsey is located in Anderson County (see Ron Wilson) I am not surprised at anything that might occur.

According to Larry Sabato this is a serious blow to Giuliani as well as a stunning indictment for the SCGOP.  It more an indictment for DeMint than anyone else, but because DeMint is the conservative darling de jour you aren’t going to hear this.
That statement is quite foolish.
“…Sabato said the incident reflects on Giuliani, who accepted Ravenel's aid when he was first putting his campaign together and most of the state's top Republicans had committed elsewhere. Giuliani, he said, has "egg -- no, omelet -- all over his face. To say this was a poor choice for his state chairman is an understatement," Sabato said…”
For my two cents, Sabato is another ‘expert’ who needs to be taken down a peg or two.   If anyone should be ‘embarrassed’ by Ravenel’s stunning fall from grace, it should be Jim DeMint, who was propelled into the Senate by Ravenel.

Now – are you seeing which way the political cookie crumbles in SC?

There are times when Harold just states it simply and beautifully.  The hard-line anti-immigration Congressmen in the House cost the GOP dearly when they went down in defeat.  Their inability to take out Chris Cannon is indicative of how ‘powerful’ they really aren’t.

ANTI-IMMIGRATON CANDIDATE LOSES!
As if to prove my point,  in the race for the Georgia 10th District Congressional seat, Jim Whitehead will face either Paul Broun or James Marlow in a run-off.  The importance of this is the fact that William Greene,   of Right March   and protégé of Richard Viguerie was slaughtered, receiving something like 3% of the vote.  Is this a test of the actual strength of anti-immigration conservatives?  Greene ran on a strict anti-immigration, pro-minuteman platform.  Just look at some of his endorsements:

Ambassador Alan Keyes, Declaration Alliance*
Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado (6th District)*
Colin Hanna, Let Freedom Ring*
Paul Weyrich, Free Congress Foundation*
Chris Simcox, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps*
Larry Klayman, founder, Judicial Watch*
Gary Kreep, United States Justice Foundation*
Dr. Ron Wexler, Ten Commandments Commission*
Richard Viguerie, ConservativeHQ.com*
Steve Baldwin, Council for National Policy*
William Murray, Religious Freedom Coalition*
Richard Engle, National Federation of Republican Assemblies*
Chris Ruddy, NewsMax.com*
Melanie Morgan, Move America Forward*
Dr. Ed Bez, The Legacy Foundation*
Christopher Carmouche, Executive Director, GrasstopsUSA*
Don Feder, President, Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation*
Richard Bott Sr., Bott Radio Network*
Jim Martin, 60 Plus Association*

I cannot stress how important this development is.

This brings up my topic de jour – where’s the hate?  It certainly isn’t in Texas, according to AJ Strata.

I find the possibility that our blessed conservatives are going to compromise on this immigration bill to be absolutely hilarious!

WHERE’S THE BEEF?

I think one of the reasons some of our ‘conservative’ may waver is the fact that the actual support generated by such fake organizations like Grassfire.org
are not yielding the numbers they say are out there.  Fact is, their anti-immigration petition ONLY has 687,000 signatures to date.

Contrast this to another Viguerie sponsored organization back in the 1980’s when Reagan was POTUS.  Without the internet they managed to get TWO MILLION  signatures on a reactionary petition demanding Reagan not go head with disarmament in Europe.

MUST READ:  Victor David Hanson’s RCP blog commentary on immigration and civilization.

Mike’s America on the Myth of Assimilation.  Where on earth is he getting his information?   Well, we know.  He is using an unbiased PEW study that says nothing.  Then he, like everyone else who is anti-immigration falls into the John Tanton – Richard Viguerie trap.  I am sorry but I am sick and tired of people falling for ignorant racist hysteria on a subject they are unwilling to explore in a rational manner from both sides. Basically this is just another LIBERTARIAN (not Republican) hit aimed at Lindsey.  Just check out the conservative Times Examiner. Word of warning:  Any time one of these sites advertises Chuck Baldwin, THEY ARE NOT REPUBLICAN.

Hugh Hewitt goes after Lindsey who is TELLING THE TRUTH about some of the opponents of immigration reform.

SHOW ME THE RACISM

Let’s try this one more time.  I feel like an adult dealing with a child who refuses to pay attention to anything rational.  Every one of the citations I am using comes out of SOUTH CAROLINA.  But – I thought there were not bigots and no racism in SC.  I think a few conservatives need to pull their heads out of the sand and smell the acrid odor of hate.

Let’s start in South Carolina, where Mike of Mike’s America is living like the King of de Nile.

“…“I am the presidential candidate of the National Socialist Movement and I will be on the ballot in 2008,” Bowles says to into several TV cameras crammed in his face along with the microphones of surrounding journalists including one Charlotte reporter who inexplicably keeps calling him “Bill.”
“The illegal immigration issue is a race issue. And we do look at race as a valid way of looking at things in life and believe we have a right to do so and we’re out here practicing our constitutional rights today, to free speech, and I encourage white people all over this country to get politically involved with something and just get away from that desk and computer and become active. Because every racial group in this country gets out in the street and raises heck when they need to protect their rights and white people need to do the same thing,” he says in one long breath….”
