Okay, it’s a great title but by the time I’ve managed to get around to writing it,  I forgot what I was going to say.

This is the beginning to three long weeks of intermittent travel.  I’m doing a book signing this weekend, and have no idea how much time I am going to have to ‘blog’ so I am sitting here, working on today’s blog, also putting something together for every day this week.  Consequently I am going to be doing some theme blogging. I am also trying to shorten the length of my posts, and am trying new things. I am very unhappy with Technorati and wish I understood what they are trying to do.  My hits are up by about 20% from last month, but my ‘authority’ has been cut nearly in half.  My TLB numbers are holding fairly steady and I am not unhappy with them at all.  I just wish I could figure the Technorati thing out.  Unfortunately I don’t have time to tweak numbers and format for at least three weeks, so I will just deal with it.

I started out to do a very ambitious rant today, at 8AM – phone company guy was scheduled any time between 8AM – 5PM.  Naturally he never showed.  It is now 9:30.  I have been working on the computer today for 13.5 hours.  I’ve done two articles for Blog Critics, finished my endless “to do” list, and have composed basic Pink Flamingo entries for the six days.  We’re definitely theme blogging.

No cat news.  Rumsfeld is exhausted from being forced to get up so early this morning.  He likes to sleep in.

Did you know Neil Diamond wrote “I’m a Believer”?  Mickey Dolenz doesn’t look near as good as Davy Jones!

PAUL POTTS HAS A RECONRDING CONTRACT!
Sometimes dreams do come true.  Paul Potts won Britain’s Got Talent and now has a recording contract!
He is also set to perform for the Queen. His award winning performance.  He was better this time. The guy is good.  Like all potentially great singers, he has his own unique style. He even put a little acting into it.  Maybe he will make it on stage in an opera.  I think a star is born.  Those final notes he hit were awesome!  This man can hold his own!   More here.

PROFANITY WARNING
We Episcopalians have enough to put up with – now this dodo barnyard substance! l

Ah yes, it has begun.  FYI – I refuse to vote for anyone who snubs GWB!

By far the most important story of the day is the ‘busting’ of a major pedophile ring operating out of the UK where 31 children were rescued.  Speaking as one who was molested as a child, I think I like the idea of flogging pedophiles – in stocks, in public!  Then the victim’s family gets to throw offal at him/her. If you don’t know what offal is, look it up.

Rosslyn Smith at American Thinker makes the case that the time might be right for a third party run – especially since so many conservatives are annoyed with immigration.  If this is the case, don’t think it is going to be sweetness and light.  If there is a third party run based on immigration it is going to be ugly and dirty.

MUST READ:  NARCO NEWS – You may think it is liberal, but it isn’t.  Looks fairly fair and balanced to me.  And, there is an excellent explanation of the origin of La Raza.  Sorry, it isn’t revolutionary.

MY VERY MINI RANT
I am not a fan of the current immigration bill. No one is.  That’s how grownups in the real world get things done – by compromise.  No one gets what they want, everyone gives a little, gets a little, and no one walks away completely happy.  It is called “governing”.  These days it is getting more and more difficult to tell the difference between hard core conservatives and hard core liberals.  Their messages are different, but their tactics, rhetoric, and approach is the same – demonize anyone who disagrees.

The more I am exposed to this bill the more I dislike it.
1.    I do not like the guest worker program.
2.    Border security and immigration are two separate but equal entities.
3.    We need to be dealing with both – separately.

Also, most people labor under the misconception that our current immigration laws allow for people who are married to or birth parents of American Citizens to be allowed to stay.  The moment you tell them differently they want changes.  People do not want to see families broken up.

Conservatives need to get a grip, take a high colonic, get drunk, and deal with it - and I do hope you know what a high colonic is!

Harold Hutchison is a trooper.  He has a posting on MacsMind referencing a Linda Chavez Jewish World Review column about that pesky Hispanic Racism that just does not exist, according to some
“…Most conservatives claim to be color-blind, but remaining silent in the face of such naked bigotry evokes Edmund Burke's dictum: "It is necessary only for the good man to do nothing for evil to triumph." It's time for those who truly are color-blind to disavow those in our ranks who are not.”

Hutchison also references the most recent Chavez piece at NRO.
Fortunately Chavez hammers Heather MacDonald who has penned some of the most blatantly “racist”, mis-leading, and out-right anti-Hispanic columns in the main stream, non-racist (we’re talking white supremacist) web. MacDonald, because she is associated with a prestigious conservative think tank, is taken verbatim by main-stream conservative writers like Malkin, Coulter, etc. MacDonald’s classic “Hispanic Family Values” is one of the most deplorable pieces I’ve read to date.  Like Chavez says, if you replace the word “Hispanic” with “Jewish” or even “Moslem” people would be absolutely furious.  But this undercurrent of anti-Hispanic racism is so accepted and mainstream that no one says a word, or they will be accosted.  Trust me, I know.

I am just thankful someone over at NRO is telling the truth.  Chavez says the same thing I have been writing about for well over a year now.
“…I think there is an obligation for those who do not share such views to speak out, and it is particularly incumbent on conservatives to tread carefully in this arena. As a leader in the fight against racial preferences, I’ve always been choosy in the company I keep. I will not appear with or allow myself or my organizations to be in any way associated with David Duke, Jared Taylor, American Renaissance, or others in the fringe “white identity” movement, as they sometimes call themselves. I’ve never hesitated to call such people racists; they are. It doesn’t matter that they share my opposition to racial preferences; we do so for very different reasons. But racists are not the only problematic allies conservatives encounter when it comes to the immigration issue.

I doubt that most conservatives know the roots of the modern immigration-restriction movement. The Federation for Immigration Reform and its offshoots, including the Center for Immigration Studies, oppose most legal as well as illegal immigration largely because they have radical views on population issues. John Tanton, the founder of FAIR (as well as a number of other groups on this and related issues), was previously the national president of Zero Population Group, past president of Northern Michigan Planned Parenthood, and former head of the Sierra Club’s Population Committee, not exactly groups with which most conservatives identify. I know Tanton reasonably well, having worked with him when I was president of U.S. English (another group Tanton founded, which promotes making English the official language — a policy I still support and have testified on each time the bill comes up for hearings in Congress)….”

AJ Strata also exposes some of the soft underbelly of hate in a column over at Strata-Sphere.  and again with this comment

“…And the canard that we need to secure our borders first is a simple delaying tactic so the far right can stoke up more hate of aliens in general - which has been their bread-and-butter business for some time now. I have spoken to a lot of conservatives who work and live with immigrants and they all agree the GOP is headed for disaster. The hardest workers these business people have are immigrants. They have no way to validate the workers’ legal status, and legal status is a transient thing (most come legally and overstay). So when these people see their best workers being identified as illegal aliens (and being let go of course) they just shake their heads at the stupidity of it all. Everyone would prefer penalties and some process to keep their workers. It is the nativists who hope to ‘cleanse’ the country of the ‘diseased’….”
