I learned today that my cousin, Jim has been diagnosed with what seems to be a nasty form of AML (leukemia).  He is undergoing chemo.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Little Joe is enjoying per personality change.  She could end up in Bat Masterson’s camp as ‘bratty’. Mommy Cat was chasing flies this evening.  I saw Miss Piggy once today.  She wants to be alone, so I will let her.  Bat Masterson is just a total brat.  Let’s leave it at that!

A LITTLE MISC. POLITICAL NEWS

GWB 2 –  DEMS – 0 as the Dems acknowledged the man they call an incompetent lame duck has brow-beaten them into getting what he wants.  They are going to send him a war funding bill without a time line.  We need to read the fine print because we all know they will try something else to screw him!

Hillary wants voluntary pre-kindergarten.  How long will it be before they decide these toddlers need to go to school all day and make it mandatory?  I am proud to say that I AM A KINDERGARTEN DROP-OUT! I completely disagree with this and also the idea of mandatory kindergarten.  Little kids need to be home to play and be little kids.

Chuck Yeager is campaigning for Duncan Hunter.

The GOP’s worst enemy officially entered the race today.    If conservatives continue to hammer immigration the way they are, the GOP had best be afraid, be very afraid of Bill Richardson.

DAVID E. SIMCOX of the Center for Immigration Studies

CHRISTOPHER A. SIMCOX of the Minutemen, et. al

ARE THEY RELATED?

Let’s do a little back ground check into that much hailed Heritage Foundation    press announcement today.  One of the sources quoted is the Center for Immigration Studies. (cited 1998 testimony by CIS director David Simcox)    David Simcox is a Tanton associate who is primarily interested in negative population growth. He is involved in John Tanton’s Numbers USA   He has a book published by the racist Social Contact Press. My search has lead me to ask one specific question:  IS DAVID E. SIMCOX, in his mid ‘70’s from Louisville, KY the father of CHRISTOPHER A. SIMCOX, who was born around 1962 or so?  If so, it would sure answer quite a few questions.  Funny thing is I’ve spent the past 2 hours looking up information on both and come up with a brick wall other than the 2001 restraining order against Christopher A. and a recent marriage license for David E.   All I know is the fact that David E. has been associated with Tanton for a number of years.  Tanton thinks long-term.  If Christopher A. and David E. Simcox are not related it would be quite interesting.  If they are related then I SMELL AN EVEN LARGER RAT!

If both David E. (of CIS)  and Christopher A. (of the Minutemen, et. al) are related, then how long have they been planning this whole anti-immigration campaign?

If they are related, are Simcox’s actions in Cochise County pre-meditated?

If the whole minuteman network was pre-meditated, then when will conservatives admit they have been played for fools, not by CONSERVATIVES buy by extremely liberal, planned-parenthood supporters who are interested in eugenics, racial-purity, and cutting the population of the USA back to 90,000,000!

If David E. and Christopher A. are not related, my gosh what a coincidence!  White Pages.Com lists ONLY 300 phone numbers for people in the US with the last name of “Simcox”.   To put it into perspective, the same site lists only 221 people with the last name of “Reidhead” who have phone #’s in the US I googled “Reidhead and Immigration”.  I came up with an article by my cousin Paris Reidhead found a half dozen references to his sister Julia A. Reidhead.  I found a Reidhead law firm in Tucson who handles immigration cases, and a Dr. Van Reidhead who does a little political writing out of Texas.  I don’t mind admitting I will be distantly related to the latter. The bottom line is all Reidheads are eventually related to John Reidhead, Sr.

But, you google “Simcox and Immigration” and you come up with 70,400 references on the subject.  You will find most references are to “Christopher A.”, but there are many references to “David E.” also.

NEWT THREATENS LINDSEY

Lindsey has one of the largest war chests in the Senate. This evening listening to the unfair and unbalanced interview between Newt and Malkin, Newt was basically threatening Lindsey.  According to Newt, he would not be surprised if both the Dems and the GOP lose because the American people are so angry over this.  Newt things the American People are going to form a third party and throw everyone out and go back to a fundamental form of basic American democracy.  (Sounds a little scary to me).  During the interview with Malkin, his comment about Lindsey’s re-election could only possibly be read as a threat.

And – people want this man to run for POTUS?

Newt Gingrich is not balanced.  They say John McCain has problems?  What I heard Newt say this evening tells me this man is not stable.  What is obvious is conservatives have issued a wacky-conservative fatwa against Lindsey's re-election.  I love the fact that Fred Thompson is their second coming and he has something like a lifetime 86% ACU rating and Lindsey's is nearly 10 points higher.  These people are obviously out of control and have lost all pretense of rational thought.

Harold Hutchison continues the good fight against extreme conservatives at Called As Seen today.

THE MCCAIN MUTANY

McCain launches an attack on Romney and his immigration flip-flops!

He also notes Thompson (Fred)’s flip-flopping on immigration. The worst part of all of this is the way people feel the need to pander to the worst of the conservatives ideologues.

From The Politico: …"Maybe I should wait a couple of weeks and see if it changes because its changed in less than a year from his position before," McCain responded, referring to his rival's immigration stance. "And maybe his solution will be to get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his lawn."…”

Eye on 2008 on Hugh Hewitt going bonkers against McCain.

I am sorry, but this is getting fun.

MUST READ: Captain Ed was part of a blogger conference call this AM with the McCain camp.  He has an excellent account of it.

This is a great segue into…

MY RANT OF THE DAY!

John McCain Is Right…

Especially about John Cornyn. I do not approve of the “F-Word”, but the one about Cornyn being “Chicken S&#@” is probably quite accurate.

I grew up in the South.  Unfortunately in the mid to late 1970’s the South was invaded by the curse of the chicken houses.  Have you ever smelled chicken you know what that has been spread across a field of yard for the nitrogen and fertilizer.  It is an incredible fertilizer – but odoriferous. It smells so bad you cannot handle prolonged exposure to it without being physically ill.  The “F word” is one thing, but the “Chicken S&$@” reference is extremely insulting.  And, after listening to the recipient, I agree with McCain.

My big problem is if the primaries were today I am afraid I would end up tossing a coin to see who I would vote for:  Giuliani or McCain (I am that impressed with McCain, lately).

I think the GOP can’t do any better than either man.

VERY MINI RANT

Jimmy Carter

Timely Opinion-Journal snark about Jimmy Carter.  How the H – E –DOUBLE TOOTHPICK can this man, who is responsible for the mess we have in the Middle East today, criticize the man who is trying to clean up his mess.  Smoke and mirrors? Speak loudly and carry a load of chicken you know what?  This man is an embarrassment. How many people have died because of his policy?  Maybe some enterprising blogger who is crafty with HTML can come up with a counter for all the people who have died due to the repercussions of Carter’s policies. I sure wish I believed in Purgatory.  Carter may be a good Sunday School teacher and ‘Born Again’ but he should be consigned to Purgatory for a few hundred years for his actions while President of the United States.  Then Carter lies about what he has said.

THE IMPACT OF A BORDER FENCE

The primary reason I do not approve of the border fence is because of what it is going to do to the environment an animal migration.  I am not an environmentalist, but even this gets to me.    There is something almost obscene about this.  It is disgusting and immoral.  People who do not live along the border or in the desert regions do not even begin to comprehend how important it is to be able to get to water.  Event thought the Rio Grande is horribly polluted, you don’t fence off a river, not one this important.  But, what the heck.  Hard-line anti-immigration supporters have already cast aside any pretense of human decency.  What the heck.  Destroy several thousand miles of fragile and endangered desert lands.  You live in other parts of the country.  Maybe we should demand they fence off Lake Hartwell and not allow anyone from North Carolina or Georgia to have access to it.  Fence off the Mississippi. Maybe Canada should fence off the Niagara River.

“…Environmentalists have spent decades acquiring and preserving 90,000 riverfront acres of Texas scrub and forest and protecting their wildlife. Now they fear the hundreds of miles of border fences will undo their work and kill some land animals by cutting them off from the Rio Grande, the only source of fresh water. A fence could also prevent the ocelots and other animals from swimming across the water to mate with partners on the other side. "If you have a fence that runs several miles long, if you are a tortoise or any animal that can't fly over or go through it, then you have a pretty long distance that you have to go to get water," said Brown, an outreach manager at the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, 225 miles south of San Antonio. Also, "any destruction of any brush is very damaging." In addition, some worry that the barrier - described in some plans as triple-layer metal fencing - will damage the tourism industry along the Rio Grande….’

LINDSEY ON CHRIS WALLACE

Lindsey on Chris Wallace:

“…You know, before 9/11, this was a social economic problem. After 9/11, this is a national security problem. I think we all have an obligation to fix this problem. The guest worker program is an important aspect of it. You cannot hire a guest worker until you advertise that no American will take the job and you have to advertise at a competitive wage. I think we have struck the right balance here. We're securing our borders. We're controlling who gets a job on our terms. As Chuck says, this is by no means forgiveness. This is a probationary sentence for the 12 million. If they ever want to become a citizen, they've got to wait till everybody ahead of them goes through the line and they have to go back to their home country to apply.

And to my colleagues who want to make the bill better, you're welcome to come on the floor and let's work together. To my colleagues who come on the floor to tear this bill down with no alternative, you're not doing this country a service, and I will push back. If you've got a better idea, you can lead us to a better solution. I'm all for it. But if all you're going to do is say no and embrace the status quo, I'm going to be your biggest critic. … When is the Republican party going to solve this problem, when we lose every aspect of the government? This is the best deal the Republican Party will get. This is the best deal the Democratic Party will get.

If we can make it better, fine. But this is our chance. This is our moment, and I look forward to taking this bill to the floor, and I believe it will be overwhelmingly supported by the American people. I really do believe that, because it's a good solution to a hard problem. … Here's what I would like to see the Senate do. Find out the facts about the firing of the U.S. attorneys, make sure that -- I don't believe there's any evidence of illegal behavior on the part of the attorney general.

If the president wants to keep him in his job, I will work with him. The Congress is at 29 percent. The Congress is at 29 percent because we're playing all of these "gotcha" games. We've got a chance as Republicans and Democrats to do something good for this country: Solve illegal immigration, the biggest national security problem facing this country.

There are millions of people here. We don't know who they are and what they're up to. I want to focus on that, rather than pass a resolution, that's never been done in the history of the Congress, to play "gotcha" politics with the attorney general. So I hope we'll understand why we're at 29 percent…. What I hope we can do is find benchmarks that will not undermine the mission. We've got to win in Iraq.

And this whole idea of a new mission of where our troops can just fight Al Qaida and no one else -- I've been a military lawyer for 25 years. What you're trying to do is impossible to implement. We have to fight extremists who are trying to topple this infant democracy. Benchmarks, holding the Iraqi government accountable, but not by empowering our money -- they need the money. They're running out of the money. We need to give the troops the money without ensuring their defeat. We're at 29 percent because we can't fund troops at war, and we're trying to do something in the back door which we won't do in the front door, which is cut off funding, bring them home. That's an honorable path. This idea of trying to have benchmarks and time lines that ensure their defeat is unacceptable to me. And this is a war we can't lose. So I hope we'll be smart enough and wise enough as a Congress to give our troops what they need without ensuring their defeat and empowering their enemy….”
