There is a Blog Carnival for Cats tomorrow.   I am going to try and submit early.  Blogging Chicks  is also having one.  I think this is the right site.  I don’t see a theme for this week.  - oh, it’s tips for successful blogging. My tip, get a dictionary!  (I know I am the world’s worst, but I do try to write my blog up on Word, then transfer it over to Blog Harbor.)  That’s another tip, make sure you have a good hosting platform.  I do like Blog Harbor, and no this is not a paid advertisement.

We were subjected to one wild and crazy hail storm this afternoon around 1ish.  It interrupted my self-inflicted pedicure.  Considering I had just accidentally broken my last bottle of nail polish opening it (all over the clean carpet) I am surprised I was able to get any pictures.  I can’t believe the Durango wasn’t damaged. 

Rumsfeld spent the whole time running around barking like a …. Poodle!  He then thought he could continue barking at Bat Masterson to the point where I finally rolled up a magazine and taped it, slamming it on the table in front of him.  He and Doc are now resting comfortably, napping.  Last year I switched from regular house plants to cacti.  Why, might you ask?  Well, ask the cats.  I figured they would stay out of the cacti.  BOY WAS I WRONG.  I just caught Bat Masterson snuggling up against my 4” imitation Saguaro, trying to propel himself from the 15” pot to the center of my window in order to catch a fly.  I also had to raise the blinds that are falling apart (another cat, another story) before he played another game of Tarzan on them.  He is quite, so evidently the fly is history.

IMMIGRATION

Right now I am very thankful that Curt at Flopping Aces  “gets it” about Ron Paul and his far right merchants have hate have gone so far right they have merged with the far left. Curt links to Malkin,   who links to several “Ron Paul” supporter sites.  What I don’t understand is when is she going to realize she has been sold a false bill of goods on immigration.  Just segue down to the bottom of the page and see what is said about Immigration.   Then look to see what they did to Little Green Footballs.

The best critique of the whole bill I’ve yet to see is from the WSJ’s Opinion Journal, but then I agree with about 90% of what is in the article.   As usual Blog Lizards has an excellent summary of the proposed immigration bill.

I don’t think immigration is the death of the GOP.  Neither does AJ Strata over at Strata-Sphere. 

 Migrants don’t always sponge off the government, even thought the Tanton based organizations would have us to believe otherwise.  Sometimes they become millionaires and business leaders.  Yikes – they are taking jobs away from CEO’s. 

MY RANT FOR THE DAY

I Am a Republican!

If there is any doubt that Drudge is not biased, well, forget that one.     I’ve said it before and I will say it again, Matt Drudge is a hysterical fool when it comes to immigration.  He is so terrified by the “Mexican” and Hispanic menace that he just knows he is going to be hacked to death one evening in his sleep by marauding bands of Mexicans with machetes.  He lives in West Palm Beach.  If his death is to be by illegal immigrants, he’ll probably be done in by some Haitian zombie who has been turned into a zombie so he will work for free in the migrant camps in the ‘Glades!   His hysteria is helping to fuel the whole anti-immigration fervor.

The other day when President Bush was having his joint press conference with Tony Blair, at the end the President said we must have courage in today’s world.  I don’t know anyone who has more courage than George W. Bush.  It takes either a tremendous amount of courage to stand in front of a head-wind with your name on it, or else a heck of a lot of pig-headed-ness – or probably a combination of the two.  I find the fact that no matter how hard his enemies, or in Islamic terms the enemy of my enemy is my friend, i.e. the Dems and Al Qaeda are working jointly to destroy this great man, George W. Bush remains steadfast.  He has the courage to stand up to the conservatives who have gone off the deep end, shall we say, and are giving in to hysteria that has taken about thirty years to manufacture and build into today’s insanity.   I keep praying that today’s conservatives will do what is right and honorable. 

The Lord works in mysterious ways so I’ll just keep on keeping on.  I find fascinating the fact that the conservatives of today  have left me in the dust to the point where once I was proud to be ‘conservative’.  Today, I am a detested moderate.  The funny thing is none of my values or ideals have changed except for the fact that I am now against the death penalty.  The reason?  I am pro-life.  I am so pro-life I do have a difficult time dealing with the morality of war, but it is war, and war, the death penalty and abortion have nothing to do with one another.  And yes, I’ve always held the same abortion position as Rudy Giuliani.  But, today, I am no longer ‘conservative’.

Synonyms for CONSERVATIVE are traditional, conventional, conformist, un-adventurous, old-fashioned.  Synonyms for OLD-FASHIONED are out of date.  Synonyms for UNADVENTEROUS are safe, cautious, timid, and shy! Synonyms for CONFORMIST are follower and sheep!

I am no follower.  Evidently that is what today’s conservatives have become.  Funny thing, but I can’t think of a better definition of them.  Blind, mindless followers – sheep. 

Synonyms  for MODERATE:  Judicial, sensible, restrained, judicious, fair, temperate, modest, careful and cautious. So, I am proud to be moderate.  I am not conventional.  I do not choose to be a common man (we need to change that to person).  I am not a conservative.  I am a Republican.  Funny, but if you read the Republican Creed, there is no way today’s conservatives can exist within the GOP if they continue to demand we meet their demands.  Their demands hare not Republican.  They envision some sort of Reaganesque Utopia that just doesn’t exist within the parameters of the GOP.

I want opportunity, not security.  I will take a calculated risk.  I do not want utopia.  I will not cower before any conservative talk show pundit who preaches defeat.  I am a free American!  I am a Republican not a conservative.  I will not be bullied by their demands of ideological purity.  I refuse to worship at the altar they have created for Ronald Reagan.  Ronald Reagan was a Christian, not some pagan god to be worshiped as the Children of Israel did the Golden Calf.  I have a God and a Savior.  I take my talking points from The Sermon on the Mount, not the teachings of William F. Buckley. I am a Republican.

I will not live in fear of a migrant worker seeking freedom.  I will allow him or her to become a free American.  I will do all that I can to assist them in that endeavor, because that is what it means to be a Republican.
